  1. I can understand how hard it would be to trouble shoot the problem, but if they knew there were issues with Trend , you'd think they would ask you if you were running it before all the other work we went through testing for the cause of the problem. Good point, will take that into consideration next post :-)
  2. Interesting Ken, there is obviously no internal communication at CNC software about the issue then as I only stumbled across it by mistake after hours spent doing re-installs , configuration etc at CNC softwares suggestion but no mention of Trend possibly being an issue !
  3. People running Trend micro security be aware that it may be affecting your Mastercam execution. As mentioned previously in threads on here we were having trouble with any of the 3d opti paths not processing and would just get "computational error" errors. No other indication of what was going wrong. QC effectively put it in the too hard basket after trying to sort it out because they weren't seeing any issue at there end . Anyway by a fluke I have worked out that Trend is some how interfering with the processing going on in the background and causing the "computational error". So if your running Trend and having "computational error" issues it might be worth a try to disable it.
  4. Whoa , that's some fine tolerances and must take a lot of power and time to crunch the numbers !! We never go below 0.0035 mm total tolerance for our mould work or it just takes too long to generate the tool paths.
  5. No. no where near it sometimes. Just completed verifying a mould here (looked good) and then was run through vericut due to 5 axis work and showed up a lot of small gouges due to a leadin/out error with a hog nose endmill and I trust vericut to be right !
  6. Yes it does, but correct me if I'm wrong , when you select your point for 5 axis drilling it needs to be the end point of the axis line, this is where it would be good if the line only extended above the solid hole face.
  7. Lathes, yes due to the nature of them. HAAS mills no, they are no where near dynamic enough to move them selves around due to machining movement and from recent past experience here in Christchurch, New Zealand if you get a large earth quake and they are bolted down they will get damaged, where as if they aren't they just dance across the floor and need repositioning and re levelling :-)
  8. I'd like to see either verisurf or mastercam hole axis create a line that is on the axis but is above the solid face , i.e. pointing away from the hole as when you do any 5 axis drilling this is what you need to select , an endpoint of a line that is above the hole to be drilled as this sets the side the drill is working from.
  9. Looked into this a bit more and it appears that the stock setup numbers are not being transferred from the stock setup page to the verify settings page properly if you are in anything other than top stock view. Am going to send to QC.
  10. Hi John Yes we know how and where to setup the stock, have been doing it for years and worked as expected. That is if you are working in a bottom tool/construction plane and wish to have your stock set relative to it then you do so in the stock setup page and it transfers through to verify. The problem with X7 verify is this doesn't seem to work unless you have it setup in Top view.
  11. Am I missing something or does the new X7 verify not import stock properly if you have the stock setup in anything other than TOP view ? When we have the stock setup on bottom view the stock ends up in the wrong place in the Z plane.
  12. Had this error even on our Heidenhain post after upgrading to Vericut 7.2.3 - CG tech tech support sorted it out with a new control def .xctl file
  13. Anyone know why they dropped the ability to do spring passes when you have an overlap set in the pocket toolpath finish lead in/out. Had totally forgot that it used to work until I opened up some old proven files today and kept getting the "spring passes not output with lead in/out overlap" warning. These files have the .MCX extension so from memory that was up to X4 ? so it used to work up until X5 I think ?
  14. invest in vericut or camplete or the like. This is the only way to be confident in the 5 axis paths coming out of mastercam !
  15. If you can step up to a Quadro 4000 you should, made a huge difference in X7 over our old quadro FX1700 card Just a side note, if you can test the build before commiting do so as our new build here won't run any of the "opti toolpaths" (very frustrating) and yet another build almost identical will !! really struggling to work out where the issue is.
  16. finishing option EXAMPLE_SCALLOP-MARK.MCX-7
  17. How about ticking the use holder for gouge checking on the holder page ?
  18. Yip this is what I do too but does take time to crunch all the tool paths that you won't even use !
  19. A nice function would be to have a chook or just a "create step chains" function that would behave in a similar way to what FBM does and create chains at each step depth to aid in chain selection when choosing contouring chains.
  20. We never managed to get our HAAS 4th axis to cut simultaneous tool paths at a reasonable jerk free feed rate even after having the parameters tuned by a HAAS service tech !! But what did help a bit was to make sure that your part dia set in setting 34 is close to what you are machining and you can also set setting 191 to 1 (rough) to allow freer movement but this can make gouging worse if there is a lot of tight direction changes
  21. Been trying to sort out another issue we are having with "opti" toolpaths and "computation errors" with CNC software and they suggested changing our graphics card settings to force mastercam to always use the dedicated graphics card to try and fix the error, it didn't :-( But my right click is now alot faster :-)
  22. Definitely slower in X7 for me, not a huge amount, but noticeable
  23. Is anyone else experiencing slow opening when right clicking in the operations manager to edit common parameters, renumber tools etc ?
