  1. create curve on edges and transform to your desired height. ???
  2. I had the same issues this week, i contacted our reseller, he told me to 1. Uninstall ALL MasterCam 2. cleanall CNC Software from registry.3.Reinstall X5 and you will be good to go. This worked for us, YMMV!
  3. We have a brand new Okuma Lb3000 with a p2000l control. There is NO space in this machine! Especially when trying to mill on the sub spindle! Its a rigid machine. We have been milling a radius on a part and cant seem to hold .0005 We have been sending the post back almost daily for over a month now. I like the machine, but alot of headaches because of post issues, its too new and nobody has a good working post. Just my .02!!

    Turn Profile

    I use it for lathe.

    Turn Profile

It gives you the profile of the solid, without having to draw it out. Its alot faster than drawing it out, just not exactly accurate.

Good Point Wes, I havn't had any negative issues with it yet, other than tightening the tollerance. It would be better if it were a perfect matc, at least i wouldnt have to go back and double check to make sure the profile is good!
  7. We had issues with our new Dell Precision T1500's with the same Graphics card. If you download the latest driver, from Nvidia, your problems will, "for the most part", go away.
  8. Thanks Brad, i broke out the Active Reports Design and created one for myself. It was pretty easy actually. The only options i had were for mill OR lathe, so i had to start from scratch and customize it for my own use.
  9. Send them out and have them gundrilled??
  10. Gee, nobody uses Active Reports for setup sheets on a millturn?
  11. If you are doing any 3d work, you NEED HSM capabilities, on an Okuma its called SuperNurbs. If you have a small amopunt of memory, make sure you can run DNC from a usb or another computer. Get these things up front or they will cost you $$$$ later!
  12. Anyone willing to share a template for a millturn? Thanks in advance!

    Turn Profile

Ive used it some more, and I program for a mill-turn and think this tool is ver helpful! You have to tighten the tollerance up to .0001 to get it to produce straight lines but its very fast and easy! "Spin" works great!

    Turn Profile

I used it for the first time last week, but I could only use it for roughing. The profiles it created were not straight enough for the tollerances i had to hold! Maybe i need to tighten up the tesselation Tol.???
  15. FBM and FBD ONLY work with Solids! and mill
  16. The trouble with anything industrial size is the cost of moving it! Unless its right next door it can cost 10 grand just to move it! The last shop i worked in bout 2 used hurco machines for 5 grand each but it cost us 8 grand to move them just across town! and dont forget about having the electrician come to hook it up! Have you looked at the do it yourself cnc websites? Im sure just for making 1911 grips you wouldnt need a huge rigid machine! Contact your local machine reps. They are in and out of shops all the time, they might know of a shop that just has one sitting collecting dust???? GOOD LUCK!
  17. It works for me! Do you have Unroll checked?
  18. EUREKA ! "Houston we have a problem here..."sorry, i couldnt resist, we have several Hurcos here as well, not bad cnc machines, just not very rigid for applying HSM techniques.(IMHO) We make alot of aluminum parts as well, I like to use DataFlute brand 3fl. emills. They work well with no coating !! For HSM we will setup on machines with much higher spindle speeds, and actually have the HSM option.
  19. As long as the chipsget flushed away from the tool, you will be fine cuz of the chip thinning...
  20. Yep, i am using zig zag, the toolpath just comes off the part on each edge feeding at the plunge feedrate and then back onto the surface again. It moves off the exact amount i have the linear exit/entry set at.
  21. Yep, i tried that but i get an entry and exit all up and down the sides of my surfaces!..is there another way?
  22. I am trying to surface multiple surfaces using this technique. I get the toolpath to look great! The only proble is the tool rapids into the part to start! Is there any control or setting that I am overlooking to adjust the tool up? Thanks for the help!
