  1. it really depends on the toolpath strategy you choose. without multiaxis you limited to using axis substitution and from looking at that geometry it would be difficult in my opinion to get axis substitution to accomplish that. Alternatively you could do more of the 3+2 type of programming where you position the 4th, surface as much as you can and repeat. This process you could do however you probably going to have a far greater run time than if you were using multi-axis paths, so in my opinion you would need to weigh the cost of the extra run time and programming time required in comparison to the price of the multiaxis package. if you plan on running lots of these or have intentions for similar parts in the future i would say contact your re-seller and get yourself the multi-axis paths, if not 3+2 type of work should get you by. Good luck bud.
  2. i replied with instructions on the other posting you created. settings, config, screen, display viewport XYZ needs unchecked
  3. oh, i follow you now after seeing the other one you posted. You need to go to settings --> config --> Screen --> Display viweport XYZ axis (this needs to be unchecked if you do not want to see that stuff)
  4. I disagree a bit with the through spindle coolant comment above. I really think this feature is well worth the money. Many of the new tooling options out there have specialized tool holders which can direct coolant directly on the insert where flood coolant can just not even compete. I mean carbide drills.... forget about high speed tooling, through spindle is the way of the future and any machine without this functionality just can not support many of the speeds and feeds some of the new tooling can. I do mean any disrespect to anyone but I think it would be a mistake to neglect the through spindle coolant as it will pay for itself if used properly in time.
  5. lol, I don't care where you are from or what you speak as long as were all using mastercam to get the job done!
  6. this is 'merica! not frenchland!
  7. Jay, This video is great and I have a customer whom is asking this exact same question, did you ever happen to get the sound quality synced back up like you mentioned above?
  8. Or sometimes these are easiest to address through the re-seller so even if you do have a sim you may want to give them a call any have them take a gander. Couple things you can try in the mean time though: 1. The hasp should glow red (if the hasp does not light up when plugged in this is typically a driver issue, use Gcodes recommendation above and go to alladin website or sometimes easier yet would be to get it off the master cam website under downloads and misc, again this will most likely only be needed if the hasp does not glow. 2. Go to start --> all programs --> mastercam X7 --> utilities --> nhaspx.exe (hasp should be set to hasp) (nethasp should be set to nethasp and Local if the sim is plugged into the same pc or network if it is not into the current pc. there is some other stuff you can do if you still have issues however like i stated above it would be best to have assistance from your mc re-seller from here on out.
  9. This is not a bug or an error and is more of just a warning to the user suggesting you use the 5 axis engine because there could potentially be undercuts in the file. If there are no undercuts you can simply neglect the warning and you are all set or you can use the 5axis engine instead. Also like others stated above this warning should be corrected in MU1 and I believe MU1 may also even default the simulator into the 5 axis engine. Dont panic people Its not a bug and not an error, just a warning or suggestion to us users that we may want to change our simulator through the file --> options. Hopefully after MU1 we will no longer see this because people panic when they see it for some reason.
  10. I dont believe there is an option for this but I do have a solution that may work for you. You can create a mastercam template file, basically create the planes you wish to have in your files, levels, etc. Then you can save the file to a safe location. Then right click on the file through windows explorer and go into properties, change the file to "read only", this will prevent the file from being over written. Now just use this template file to start all your future parts. Hope this helps.
  11. Are you talking about shading? If so try ALT+S on the keyboard. If you are talking about in verify, set your stock to transparent, this can be done in the verify by changing the stock check box to the translucent option (second option).
  12. You could also check with your mastercam re-seller to see if they can implement a custom drill cycle into the post. Alternatively the Point toolpath may give you what you need and is very easy to use.
  13. For those of you whom work with large file you may want to give the Ram Savor utility a try, you can find it under settings.
  14. I recently seen this issue on a system and even though I had the correct files it would not stick either. I worked around the issue by opening up my config into notepad and went to line 25000 and manually typed the name of my LMD-7 file. As seen in the text below. This worked well for me and i have pasted the section of the config which you would want to edit below. Hope this helps, if not contact your reseller 25001. Lathe Machine Definition? <APP_DIR_SHARED>CNC_Machines\Lathe Default.lmd-7
  15. Nice JParis! I use dynamic planes all the time and had no idea you could do that. I was going to tell him a method I use with the xform project where you can project a point off the surface and create a vector line that we could use for plane creation purposes but this way seems much easier and you can still snap to a point on the surface.
  16. Please send a link to the exact tool you are using off the tool manufacturers website and I will see if i can do a vid.
  17. If you are using X7 and If Iscar can provide you with a DXF (typicaly they are made avalable on the MFG website) of the tool and as long as they set up the DXF properly meeting the ISO 13399 standard (which it should be) then you can simply load the DXF into the new tool manager built into X7 and the tool will come in custom without any need to construct or edit the dxf file. I would typically save the DXF to the same location you keep your tooldb files. Hope this helps
  18. +1 for what chris stated above, Not to overwhelm you with options but a third option in addition to Chris's suggestions would be to toolpath the part with what you think would work and do a stock model compare (third page in the stock model settings)... but you would have to toolpath it so your best option will be the "Analyze > Test surface Solid > Curvature"
  19. You may want to send your re-seller a zip2go along with the inspection report from the system inspection utility which you can download here: http://mastercam.com/Support/Downloads/Misc/Default.aspx
  20. Could we just make this simple and take the hasp home with you? Not sure if thats an option for you but if it is you can just install mastercam on the home computer and just bring the hasp home with you.
  21. +1 - Both dynamic core and area have a built in setting (micro lift) which could most likely accomplish this as John has stated above, however these tool paths are intended more for Roughing and I would not call the dynamic toolpaths very good for finishing walls, however for finishing floors it should still work well, which judging by the picture that seems like more of what you are concerned with, but I would still leave some stock on the walls and just contour them separate otherwise the finish on the walls may not be too impressive. my $0.02
  22. These questions will be better for someone from CNC to answer but I will attempt to answer them for you and they can just correct me if I am wrong. 1. This is simply a warning and currently does not have a way to set the defaults (projected to have default settings available with MU1), UBV is short for Unified Backplot / Verify and the warning is simply asking you if you have undercuts and suggesting that you use the 5axis engine if you do (my hopes are that they remove that warning and give us a default setting for the 5axis engine but i am not sure there intentions). 2. currently the default settings can be manipulated by editing this file "MastercamSimulatorDefaults.xml" located in this location "C:\Users\computer name\Documents\my mcamx7" or go into mastercam and go to file --> open user folder. 3. There currently is not an option for the old verify however you can still go back to the classic backplot through the mastercam advanced configuration or control panel applet. I think most of this info should be relatively accurate but if not I am sure someone can correct me if not. Hope this helps

    Chamfering

Very nice! I have not considered this option either but seems like you could use it on almost any degree chamfer.
  24. If you are just referring to the autocurser tool bar then you can reload the default toolbar file by going to: settings --> Customize --> click open (in lower left) --> select the mastercam.mtb. This should load mastercams default toolbars. Hope this helps, if thats not what your after then hopefully you can get the screen shot on here.
