  1. we just loaded x 7 and are having the same problem opps are all set to have coolant on, Use tool's step, peck, coolant not checked ,if you go to coolant page before you pick a tool its on, then if you pick a tool it stays on, if you pick a tool first it will be turn coolant off. it is vary strange what is happening.
  2. Kevin, they do not frequent the board as much as people think. Will be best to send it over to Rob at CCC and let him push it up to CNC. Importing ops has never worked well for me. Best thing is to rename file, delete geometry and save in special spot. Open file, merge file and re-pick geometry. I would also like to comment-. With as many costumers as cnc has, there should by more then 20 to 50 comments per day. Somebody should be telling Maintenance customers about major flaws in the updates. Email is easy these days. I have been a mastercam user for 10 plus years and only found the forum last year and watching it. There are alot of good trips and tricks to be learned here. The best one is copying geometry from one session to another. But as Lisa Simpson says "I'm a small fish in a big pond."
  3. you can go top to bottom with a angle if you like and it still be alright but you will wear out the bottom of your cutter
  4. you need taper, a angle cutter will be out of the cut in 1 rev, bottom to top ,going from the top dosn't matter it wont be in full cut until it pulls out at the bottom,. that is all there is to it you can dream all you want .0017 dosn't matter in low pressure but it is not right
  5. We use carmex solid carbide threadmills with the taper on the cutter and don't have this worry with inputting the taper in the taper angle box..just curious what brand tooling are you using that has 13 teeth or are u counting every tooth on the cutter if so that sounds like a low amount..I find using 1 tooth to work better and to enter cut by start at top of hole and to enter and exit at center rather then leading in and out of hole with radius to prevent accidental gauges..I know it's climb cutting this way but less hastle and retracts in my opinion also some controls will error out with a arc lead in with wear turned on..I've been cutting threads for long time and all different sizes and pitches and find this method to be sure fire every time and great finish..doing it the way above I can see why people are intimidated by thread cutting and why everyone that runs across a job that requires thread cutting comes to me for advice..all about the right tooling and cutter dia.'s as well as the way you approach it and it's as easy as drilling the hole to be thread what----------------------
  6. do. if its off by .0017 the way im doing it and still works without taper I want to use the taper and have it be within .0002 cutting it the way its supposed to be. so if you want to really help then post an example file I can download in X6 format for the company I work for refuses to install X7 until its got the bugs worked out but that another issue of its own.. but X6 example file using this cutter mtb 0375 d06 18 npt mt7 milling it the way you are trying to expain to me
  7. this is a really nice feature that doesn't work vary well
  8. if you add tool path radis of .005-.01 for scallops it helps alot, small zig zags on the edge of a part will slow a mill with look ahead and high speed down to a crawl, older controls it can be really bad
  9. i would save my mastercam and shared mastercam and then you will be able to use any thing you want
  10. if the machine builder calls for it ,I would do it, castings are not as thick as they use to be.
  11. all that counts is generation time with no crashes...
  12. with only a .250 lead in with a .500 cutter you can only run 0 or a neg value in your wear comp i think with a .0015 wear you needa .2515 radius or more
  13. we had a simmeler problum with two parts in a row, never had a problum with the machine befor, master cam was not caculating the right end point or swing point of the arc the progamer drew it out on the computer and it was not the right numbers, the machine should have alarmed out, but the parm was set big enough to let it keep going, the only thing that fixed it was to set to the no rounding setting we reran prog meny times with diffrent settings, but no rounding was the only fix for us
  14. turing off the ask dosent let you chang the folder on the first post then it dos not give you the option to direct the fils to a folder it just sends it to the defalt setting but it would be nice if the post dialog box dident come up to tell you what post you are using ,that is not the place to change it anyway.
  15. diamater on dynamic analiz would be nice to have,
  16. thanks for repling it is only in the surfes tool pathes that we have problums with scallops, hybred etc. If you look at tool paths you can see it, in the steel you can realy see it, we started geting more of this swithching from X3 to X5 and it still is here in X6 . we cut a mold that was orignly drawn in m9 and progrmed in X6 a few months ago and the surfes finish was perfect.
  17. Hi First timmer I was wondring about this also what is the best tol seting for exporting from sw and import to master cam. and also other files to get good surfeses to cut. The filter lets the mill smoth out the fasetes using arcs but point to point is diffrent some files you get a glass finish some you do not ? Also we were thinking about posting in .00001 resoluton, pros cons every body doing it . The resaler also said to adjust arc filter settings to smoth out the flats. Up down? What are having good luck with? I realy hate postin g18 and g19 code, bad expirnses!! What total tol .0001, .0005,or .00001 I still want to cut shutoffs properly it seemes like even when we thighten evry thing up it still comes back to the surfis geomatry for the finish.some times good other times not. It seems like the surfeses we are cutting some times are just alot of flats if you look close.
