  1. If you use flowline. Play around with the gap settings to keep the tool from retracting It is set to broken by default. I use direct and change the gap size to distance and enter a large value. HTH
  2. just use the canned text as james suggested rather than hacking up your post. unless you really know what u r doing in which case feel free to hack away. but canned text is alot easier and faster. HTH
  3. We have 3x DMG 50 eVolution 5-axis and they are great! Mastercam and these machines blend nicely. It helps that we have a good post though. Some of the 5-axis stuff can be a little tricky at times.
  4. Welcome Benji! Enjoy your stay
  5. Well, I think I have found the problem. It might be the post executable (mp file). We went back to an old mp file and the code is cleaner. Which version is everyone using? MP 9.19 here Thanks for all the help everyone, I might have this one whipped now.
  6. Well, we thought it might have been the filter settings so we ran some without using the filter and some with the filter on and it didn't seem to affect the problem. We have 5 programmers here and we all have our different theories. One guy said he ran the same program twice, back to back and one part had errors and the other was fine. Same exact code. To me that sounds like a machine control problem. Another said he ran the same program twice, back to back and both parts had the errors on it. So it's kinda a hit or miss thing. It's hard to single one thing out as the culprit because we changed some of our processes. For example, We were using R for arc output and now we use I's & J's. We have messed around with our tolerance settings in MCam. Just alot of stuff. Another point to stress would be, I can't remember having this problem before upgrading to MCam v9.1 SP2. We've been with MCam for 2-3 yrs. now and it just recently came about.
  7. No, all the controls are not the same. Some Fanuc, some Heidenhain. Yes, the actual verify looks good. Haven't compared tape file after it was sent to the machine. Wouldn't think the machine would be dropping packets during download. Will have to take a look at that.
  8. Yes, the verification looks good. Yes, we use contour window and select a search point. Well I don't think it would be a machine problem, because we have several different machines that we run on and they all have this problem. So that would tell me that it's a code thing, right? Thanks,
  9. Alright Guru's here is a good one for you. We engrave a lot of part numbers and such on our parts. Well we've run into a problem on letters like P or B or R for example. We use contour toolpath to drive the tool (tapermill), but for some reason in the arcs of the letters it performs a full circle. It backplots correctly, so we don't know there is a problem until it is machined. But the funny thing is that not all of the letters will engrave like this. You could have 100 P's next to each other and only a few would get screwed up. For the geometry we use create>next menu> letters. We don't have the engraving plug-in. I talked to our reseller and they suggested using the "find overlap" c-hook. We tested the c-hook and it did not fix the problem. Anyone else have similar problems?
  10. think I could get those threadmills now. I added my e-mail addy to forum. thanks
  11. We are going to have an open house at our shop to show some of our customers what our machines a capable of. Does anyone have any cool part ideas that they'd like to share with me. One thing we are gonna do is a Golf Tee. We are planning on turning it and engraving our company logo where the ball sits on it. We plan on using some of our Mori Seiki lathes w/ live tooling, twin spindle, twin turret! And maybe our new Mori Seiki NV5000. And maybe some swarf cutting on our 5axis DMG's. Thanks in advance for any ideas you guys might have.

are you using the same post as them? good idea to put posts on a network drive if there are multiple programmers. that way everyone is using the same posts.
  13. One of the most exciting athletes to come around in years, if I may say so. I think the NFL should give him an exemption. And if not of well. I don't however believe he should be re-instated. He did hire an agent and if we let one person do it, everyone will try to get away with it.
  14. I found it. It's a chook, and they are not bitmaps of his toolpaths, they are for creating toolpaths. Thanks for the help.
  15. I tried copying the screen and inserting it into my operations manager to no success. I'm not sure if my question was understood completely. I want to insert an image of my toolpath next to my operations manager. On Hardmills WCS tutorial (found on the FTP) there is an image showing his operations manager and next to it are some images of his toolpaths. Hope that clears things up.
  16. hardmill, how did you get those bitmaps of your toolpaths on your operations manager? I noticed these in your wcs tutorial, on the regen toolpath page. thanks, d00d
  17. I always go bottom -> up, much better thread IMHO
  18. I had the same problem once, and I found it to be my stepover amount. Try and decrease it to see if that works. HTH
