  1. quote: I've never used PayPal. Do I need to setup an account? The answer is yes. It's a really easy setup which will require you to use a credit card with a predetermined limit of $1000.00 - If you wish for a higher limit then you need to allow access to your bank account. The way it works, is that PayPal adds a small percentage to the price which gets added to your bill. This is very simple and works like a charm. Regards, Jack
  2. Hey Jayson, It would be a waste of time for me to send a cheque since I have gone through the nightmare of US banks refusing to acknowledge a Canadian cheque written in US dollars, this takes a couple of months and no satisfaction has ever been realized. PayPal is your best bet but I can only pay people with a few clicks. You really need to learn how to email a request for payment; I could forward you an emailed example if you like. You could also auction the shirt on EBay but as you know, EBay will claw back a certain percentage of the sale. Riches are awaiting you here – Send the white shirt to Travis, its high time he cleaned himself up anyways. Regards, Jack
  3. Hey Jayson, Do you have a PayPal account set up already? If "Yes" then I will forward a fair bit to this very reasonable request. P.S. If it's the highest donation then I would prefer that you send the shirt to Travis Regards, Jack ([email protected])
  4. Hey burns, I guess this is reality check; at least it was for me. Observing a continual class size reduction confirms the inevitable. As the class becomes smaller, so does the profit margin and I believe you’re looking at the writing on the wall. Looking for a possible summer job or a temporary job is not going to fill a possible vacant position since the owner might view such as a complete waste of time. I might suggest NOT saying “it’s just that I see class reductions” or “it’s just for the summer” or “I want to further develop my skills” Even if you offered yourself for no financial gain, this could still be a tough sell. I am not looking to get you all discouraged but your query just seems to jump right off the page. Regards, Jack
  5. Peter, I might suggest a small test program using G95 as opposed to G94. I seem to recall this topic in the past as having something to do with the exact stop command as well. Please email me if the customer might also require an experienced Mastercam/Mazatrol toolmaker. Regards, Jack
  6. quote: its closed on the top and it is sand cast, i dont think its taperedIf it's sand cast then there must be some taper otherwise the center core will not readily separate. Perhaps an "ID" operation should be added to allow for a concentric mardrel support. Machining would allow for consistancy which is rather difficult even with investment cast. Just a thought.. Regards, Jack
  7. Welcome to the forum. Way back then, I don't really know if software was licensed for resale or not. Ver 3.11 goes way, way back. Regards, Jack
  8. quote: P4 Extreme Edition 3.4GHz 512k L2 Cache, 2Mb L3 Cache I bought the extreme edition at the premium of $1000.00 and I believe the level 2 cache is 2meg. The performance between both systems is negligable, hence, buy what you want since it really does not matter in the grand scheme of things Regards, Jack
  9. This is always scary for me. I would go with one pass conventional, slow feed, and 250rpm (for steel). I err to caution since I have broken a few of these before - and this is not very pretty. Regards, Jack
  10. Whistler and the Blackcomb mountains are amazing and Phil has descibed it perfectly. We went there two years ago - expensive but so very worth the trip. Regards, Jack
  11. Hey guy’s, It is not unusual for an institution to solicit students and faculty prior to launching a course assumed to be in great demand. In this situation, this new member, I believe to be doing just that. He has even gone as far to provide an exact address and offered a link into the teaching facility as well. The associated cost difference between an educational seating and an industrial setting is a mere pittance given what your employer has paid for the product. Take care not to incite a negative reaction towards a very positive thing such as an institution willing to go the extra mile to ensure they prospect (even through the forum) a professional and well educated person. Regards, Jack
  12. Try doing three or five segments at a time, you will see the problem much more clearly by simplifing the task. Regards, Jack
  13. Taking Surfcam to further your degree does fit up so well with industry standards around here. If Surfcam was offered at our local community colleges then I would also take it as an interest course only – funny thing is, that to the best of my knowledge, no community colleges offer this on southern Ontario. Have fun anyways. Regards, Jack
  14. quote: I'd recommend using a G90 M00, never really know whats next. The beginning of the current program is next if a branch to another program is not stated. The % or the "end of record" symbol is not even required since the loop will shoot to the top of the current program. I stated % as the last line since many readers require a stop code otherwise the seek would remain active for more. I have done this for many years for the simple fact that I do not want tool changed etc! I only want the fastest turn around time in a production situation - this method assures it for me. Regards, Jack
  15. G00 G49 Z2.0 M09 G91 Y0 M05 M00 M99 % It’s a manual edit that should do this job nicely. Regards, Jack
  16. Damn, timed out on the edit. Right click and save as over each picture, then you would have the opportunity to enlarge the view as required. Regards, Jack
  17. Hopefully these are clear enough to comprehend. As ran for years and years on an Ikegia AX20N CNC lathe (Fanuc 6T) Regards, Jack [ 02-02-2005, 03:27 PM: Message edited by: Jack Mitchell ]
  18. Andris, I would lean towards sweeping the “Y” axis to ensure true center is established. Next I would use a dial test indicator and rotate the rotary axis and record the “X” axis variance across all 360 points as you have described. To test the result is to program in Mastercam without a spindle speed. You can figure this I am sure. The largest benefit is that the mounted tool (Test indicator) will follow the contour and you can see variations throughout the cam path. Another method would be to test cut the existing contour about .1” deep using a ½” solid carbide finisher and to feel the witness mark variations. Once the data is obtained then it is also possible to calculate the throw using mathematics. Regards, Jack
  19. +1 to Rick's comment. The other thing to consider is the beating you're putting this machine tool through. I always go light axially and heavy on the feed, this way the machine tool should last a lifetime. Regards, Jack
  20. quote: What's a CNMG? (For turning guys) From memory only C 80deg diamond N nuetral rake 0 deg M hole thru center G tolerance .005 4 4/8 inscribed circle 3 3/16 thickness 2 2/64 tool nose rad Hopefully I got this correct - so what do I win Regards, Jack
  21. radanman, Welcome to the forum. A virgin Mastercam user learning a five axis router - this is going to be a tough learn Welcome aboard and try to shoot the questions on main users section as Philcott has suggested. Regards, Jack
  22. No this is not a parameter feature option. I would also like to know if anybody has purchased some sort of memory expansion for an M32 control. This control will drip feed any size of EIA program you could ever want to use. It is unusual to fill to capacity with Mazatrol programs but this does happen on occasion. Regards, Jack
  23. Let’s say we take a chill on this one for a while guys. No doubt techschool student must really feel like a chump about this affair. I believe Ketil is probably in shock not just by the rather rude initial response but the overwhelming disgusting reaction factor as well. What I am trying to say here is let’s forgive and forget so long as this sort of thing does not present itself again. I very much wish both new members a happy experience on EMasterCam and sincerely hope both will return often. Regards, Jack
  24. Rob, Peck tapping and tornado milling are cool. The tool file is slightly different but all in all the control is virtually the same as the M32. Auto probing and tool measure macro's are neat as well. Regards, Jack
