  1. We have some "Custom" shaped sheet metal on one machine from hanging the over the table..
  2. With 4 and 5 axis, machine verification is a valuable tool and another level of precaution. Almost every shop I have worked for uses some type of machine verification. Vericut being my particular favorite. Even the new X5 verification is better than nothing.
  3. This is on a mill. What type of tool material did you use? It looks like Slater recommends M2 tool Steel. Just wondering how this holds up in Ti. Thanks,
  4. I am about to try using a rotary broach to put a 20 tooth x 3/8 dia. spline in Ti and was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience doing this. Is this difficult to do? This is a through hole about .125 deep. Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randle
  5. It sure would be nice if machine tool manufacturers would supply basic 3d models of their machines. With all the major CAM packages using some type of 3d simulation, and the popularity of software like Veri-cut and Preditor I would think machine tool manufacturers would be all over this. I think this is the 3rd time over the years I have modeled up a Haas VF6 and rotary for machine simulation... Better save the files this time.. lol!
  6. In the world of machining titanium castings there is no such thing as scrap. Some of the casting cost more to replace than we would make for the whole job. Its a long slow process.. machine material safe, CMM, adjust to machine net, lots of on machine probing and every cut is watched very closely. Scrap is not an option..
  7. ^^^ Yep, that's the one.. G05.1 Q R
  8. HSM toolpaths produces a lot of arcs. If your controller is set to slow down in the corners, the overall feed may appear to be a lot slower. Most controllers with this option have the ability to adjust the arc feedrates (contour control) with an G Code setting. You may need to find the perfect balance of contour control and speed. If I remember correctly Fanuc is somthing like G05 P1000 P being the ajustable feed setting. I would look in your machine tool manual to find the exact code needed for your control.
  9. Is your inverse time feedrate checked in your control def?? If not, Check to see if is on in the post switches. (inside the .pst file) use_frinv : 0 #Use Inverse Time Feedrates in 4 Axis, (0 = no, 1 = yes)
  10. IPR with tapping cycles only.. Everything else IPM.
  11. Peel Mill works good at full depth. It works really good at deep slots.
  12. I'm the only programmer here.. Only a couple people have ANY idea whats going on, kinda like semi controlled chaos.. no joke!! Management here outnumbers the people who actually do stuff.. LOL!!
  13. Just turn on "mirror A" on the Haas control to use the rotary on the right side..
  14. Sometimes you need to regen to get the program name to stick.. not sure why.
  15. Yep, that was it.. Thanks gcode
  16. Damn... my speeling is off today too!!!! LOL!!!
  17. Back in X4, I had the option of deleting only the geometry NOT associated with a toolpath or operation. Does anyone know where this setting is turned on or off? Or is it gone with X5? I have a very old messy file (old programmer) that I am trying to clean up and fix. Thanks
  18. Thanks for the info. Doing some testing now..
  19. Cornering feed rates. Most newer controls have countour control or a similur type of function that slows corning feedrates to help control finish quality. I have a older machine that does not hve this capaiblity and I would like to do it via Mastercam.. I kinda remember seeing this before.. Any ideas.. Thanks.
  20. The fact that you would need to degrade the performance of an operating system software to properly run a brand new released version of Mastercrash is just another fine example of how far out of touch MC developers are with modern computer technologies.. Once again..
  21. Not for me.. The only options is "Set-up sheet." If you run this, it will run a full blown set-up sheet with image capture and all! This takes forever.. I would like to just run a report without all the image capture crap. Maybe even select from a few different types of active reports.
  22. Enhancement Request: How about the ability to select operations and run a report?? Right now when you right click on selected operation you on get a couple options like "Doc File" or "Setup Sheet". It would be nice to add a "Report" option that would allow you to run a customized active report file. How cool would that be?
  23. Nice simple tool list. I like it. MS Word would be nice. Also the ability to just output selected operations, rather than every tool (used or not) would be nice.
