These guys are kicking this around try not to confuse a Lathe profile for the cutter. The cutter diam stays the same rpm.
  2. Now if I could only keep track of that little TOOLPATH arrow insert thingy to listen to me and not do what ever it wants :CHIP:
  3. If I'm building something in MC and I need to check my work like a section view. I keep an "extrude" sectioning the part. I "roll back" the feature. Grab that little stop at the bottom of the solids mgr and drag it up MC does alright. I prefer modelers too but if it's not in the budget you do what you gotta do the key is to NEVER say you CANT :CHIP:
  4. OK GOTTA ADMIT. :CHIP: is W/O machine, talking from "HEARSAY". what haappens after X-Y-Z
  5. I've run a Blum before. Truth is if your parts are REAL CRITICAL. Your gonna want to take the error out. i noticed variations after running 15k+ rpm for hours. Refrigeration is an issue. HSK or taper might vary some. I had to learn how to adjust for this TOO Keeping the probes calibrated takes time :CHIP:
  6. "Seiki" is like "Smith". Machines from all over are bearing the "Smith" name. Akira "Smith" I think Korean. The innovators who SORTA set the bar (I think) is Mori "Smith". now hyphenated: Mori-"Smith"-DMU? :CHIP:
  7. Face countour is right. Create the (2d) profile in (Right of) Left Plane. Lathe/ Toolpath/ mill MC should create a plane for you when you Toolpath. follow the parameters and make sure C axis is on. Like NICKB10 said. Unless you run Y axis, :head scratch: I think is your other option. In your plane mgr you (should) see the plane MC created for the toolpath. I wouldn't create a tool. (Sorta pickey how Lathe custom tools need to be. Colors, profiles and such). use a generic endmill and adjust the diameter for your grinding wheel
  8. If I have time I think I'll try this for Lathe. Matl stick out. Lil confused Colin but I'll give it a whirl
  9. I too had issues with spindle forcing in the wrong places. prpm pspindle pnullspin were confused. I got it after a lil bit but somehow my count was wrong in the MI for grabbing forward and reverse. I think I got it but I haven't posted a whole lot of different types of toolpaths to know it something else is wrong. if I screw something over in the misc drill. I copy from a previous. Your mill post is lil complicated because of all the 5axis code but grabbing refz and depth, plane return blah blah blah is there. Should be in some of the other ops in case you get lost. +1 Colin lots of info (have to read it a couple times) but definitely +1
  10. I too have issues with Opti-Rough. I like the HSS features but a lot of the issues I have a difficult time controlling the feature based parameters. Sometimes this doesn't achieve the depths I'm trying for but multi contours/pockets/profiles, matl removal is bitchen. I find my self extracting what Opti-Rough gives me and Dynamic Contouring what I don't get. Dynamic Countour is cool for 2018. (I have yet to make a Tool path in 2018 but I like the chaining updates) the chaining once you get use to it can make your path super fast and efficient. You'd be surprised, the tineyist piece of matl. Draw a profile and Dynamic that corner out as fast as your machine'll go. For me Hybrid Roughing is just that. Matl removal something YOU CAN REALLY TRUST a "go to Tool path" to stay within a boundary and not gouge your project :CHIP:
  11. Seriously. Gotta say 2017 was a pleasant surprise. only for handful of parts I (we) built. (Lots Of turning) optimistic for 2018.
  12. I looked at it, but that's about it. I can't help it I'm a guy.
  13. These guys might want to know to. What lucky guys gets this painted on his race car
  14. I hear you. With ever evolving toolpaths, Now that same tool is capable of A WHOLE LOT of new circumstances. DEFINE A PROGRAMMER - Wouldn't this fit under a programmer title? How bout some HSM FBM?
  15. Can you use sav_? Similar to save previous position or previous spindle? In the save couldn't you count every third or 10th eob. Then the N number isn't linked through the CD?
  16. How 'bout FBM or FBM Drill. Thats a great point. most engineers draw threaded holes correctly. Run a search for 0.422 holes and ask: Do you want to .500-13 this hole FBM adds a tap. Or .49989 holes ask: Want a reamer or bore or Cir int? SolidWorks 2016 wizard now has the helix kind of cool
  17. Im thinking about it. (I like the code readable verson) but at a cost pushing 20 I think Id like it to profile some of the tools in my library like high feed profile Mitsubishi. that funky angle radius would help if verified correctly.
