Slitting saws on a vertical mill or a horizontal? I would use a manual horizonal, it's supports both side of the arbor. If the machine it tight you should be able to hold size.
To give you an idea of what it looks like. On a lathe with a .032 nosie rad and a feed of .008 this is a 32 finish. Or at least by the Sandvik surface finish card.

MA Ford 135 series still beats OSG end mills. I rough with a 3/8 diameter at 12500 RPM 395IPM at a depth of .36 Still have not found an end mill that can come close to this one.
