  1. multi-axis swarf or see this thread http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/77157-rotary-peel-mill/
  2. just checked X9 and you can do the same as 2017, also you can go to screen tab and do a copy image to clipboard, then open paint or whichever editor you want and paste the image and save as jpeg. this will copy exactly as your screen is displayed, background color etc. the image capture will give you a white background.
  3. i believe you can add the "image capture" function to your quick access toolbar. this is part of your setup sheet function from MC. click it and you have the option to name it, color or b & w, where to save it, edit, add dimensions, notes. it saves as a bmp just open in paint and then save as a jpeg. edit: above is for 2017, which you can also find in the machine tab, setup sheet.
  4. sharles, if you remember when people were switching from v7, 8 or 9 to the x series, there was plenty of complaining. i've been on mc2017 since public beta 1 and now if i go back to x9, i have a hard time remembering where everything was at. just like anything else, once you're acclimated you'll like it. take the time to set your right click mouse button and such. i love having my planes and level manager on my second screen. jmho
  5. Awesome never knew that was there thanks JP
  6. will Cimco V8 be out soon? they're website still shows V7.
  7. djstedman, i will check that out and test it. thank you
  8. found it, here is what i changed using mi7: #Feedrate calculationspfcalc #Feedrate calculations, gcode 0 does not evaluate if (mill5$ = 1 & rotfeed5$) | (not(mill5$) & rotfeed4$ = 2), use_frinv = mi7$ # ( was use_frinv = 1 ) else, use_frinv = mi7$ # ( was use_frinv = 0 ) if gcode$ <> zero,
  9. Hi guys, i currently use two modified versions of mpmaster: no inverse (for general 3 axis work) inverse (for 4 axis work where i have xya axis moving simultaneously) better surface finish .... Question is can I get away with one version using a miscellaneous integer to switch between upm or inverse time? I'm thinking some sort of variable but not sure where to put it / call it out. TIA
  10. justchips, I am programming from the point of rotation. I just wanted to know if the axis shift works in case for some reason I would need to use it.
  11. never mind it is correct, i understand the logic now. i was assuming it would recalculate all the axiis to the point of rotation(POR). i may not be wording this correct but for the Z it posts the difference between your wcs and the Z when it's tilted not up from the POR as it is when programming from the POR.
  12. we recently purchased a Robodrill alphaD21MiA5 with a Koma TN-131 table mounted on the X+ end of the table with the B axis parallel with Y. I set it up with the generic fanuc 5x mill post and control-9 file, created my model and programmed my part. A simple tilt B 12 degrees and mill a pocket using XYZ, with my WCS at the center of the part and bottom face, and posted out the code. I then tried to turn on work shift (mi6) and then enter my shift values to the point of rotation in mr7-mr9 and post the code, no difference in code. So I edit the post to turn on the work shift and then entered the same values in mr7-mr9, this seemed to correct the values for x but not z. I then created another plane and shifted it to the point of rotation, turned off work shift, zeroed mr7-mr9 and posted. perfect! So my question, is there a bug in the generic fanuc 5x mill post and control-9 file that they don't fully communicate with each other, ie.. mi6 does not activate/deactivate work shift and that the post does not fully calculate XYZ when using axis shift, to the point of rotation? I have compared the two posted files, one where I programmed to the point of rotation and one where I use work shift to the point of rotation and they are very different. TIA
  13. nice rig plus seller has a 100% feedback. only one left, but looks like you can contact the seller to add/build what you want.
  14. what version of Mastercam? have you tried peel mill? X9 offers dynamic peel and the old version of peel and try to reduce your min toolpath radius, and bare minimum on your stock to leave on walls. hth ps. since your end mill size is so close to the slot width, change your back feedrate to be the same as your initial feed also have zero micro lift
  15. does your reseller offer any training classes? would be well worth it, V8 to X8 is a huge jump. there are also several online courses too. e-apprentice, emastercam has e-courses, youtube...etc
  16. got it Del, and i compared your version, cathedrals version and mine. the greatest variation was between Del's and Cathedrals which was approx .0011-.0006. mine fell pretty much in between the two. i really appreciate all your help guys
  17. between cathedral and what Ron recommended, i had to play with the "circular tooth thickness"
  18. thanks Cathedral and Del i will try this and see, and Del i also sent you my email.
  19. i have never wire cut an involute spline and am attempting it with the gear.dll c-hook. i have attached two pictures, one that has the print data for the spline and one with the information that i entered into the gear c-hook. let me know if you think this is correct.
  20. Cjep, i assume the toolpath should be in 4 axis. also how did you com up with the chain for the tool axis control?
  21. those sound really good about now lol thanks again!
  22. CJEP That's what i've been looking for, looks pretty damn good. i will have to play with it a little but other than that, i owe you sir.
  23. i have made the part in straight 3 axis waterline milling successfully, but the tooling is expensive. using 13 end mills to mill this, all 1/32 ball mills ranging in length of reach from 3x to 8x. the material is Haynes 188 and i would like to just use a 1/32 ball mill with flute length of .093, there are a total of 58 cavities around the part equally spaced. i modified the solid to show just one cavity since my thought was a sub program. BD41612 did you modify the post through the machine def, and control def, or did you actually edit the post? i'm currently tinkering with the MILL 5 - AXIS TABLE - HEAD VERTICAL.MMD, the GENERIC FANUC 5X MILL.CONTROL-9, and the GENERIC FANUC 5X MILL.PST thank you all for the input/ideas!
