glad it's working good, here's another thought. drill a .25 hole about .75 deep then switch to a gundrill with thru spindle coolant, the initial .25 hole acts as a drill bushing, feed the gundrill in approx .5-.625 then turn spindle and coolant on.
not sure if you have to have maintenance to post on the MC forum, just create an account. they have a section labled "non-maintenace customer forums"
Awesome Murlin that it worked for you, kudos to Brian
JP whatever happened with this customer? was it the fanuc parameter? thanks Tim!! i will change those parameters in our 18i and 31i controls since this has happened
to me in the past. it always turns out that x,y,i, or j is off by .0001 but plots fine in cimco and runs fine on a fadal (go figure, those fadals)
if you have X8 as a quick launch icon in your task bar, you may have inadvertently double clicked it which in previous versions resets MC back to the default config file.
what if you're using a lollipop type cutter, doing an undercut like surface? i use flowline but recently had a job that kept gouging the part, i switched to surface finish contour with containment and it worked better but still milled in areas where it should not have when doing a compare to the solid.
i had some weird stuff happening with my x8 tool manager trying to edit a tool inside mastercam. here is what i did:
close mastercam
go into c:\users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\temp
and delete all files at least what will allow you to
restart mastercam
this solved my problem hth
I had this problem as well and i migrated my config file from X7. Dump (delete) your config file and start over with a newly generated one to modify (when you delete your current one, mastercam will generate a new one). Your machines will show up now, and change what you need. hth
thanks Cjep, how reliable is the X8 migration wizard? i've had problems in the past with migration so i've just made my changes to the default mpmaster post.
