  5. lets say I have an helix profile with a helix angle of 17.5 deg. If I use Plane Normal and create a plane at the end of this helix, it should be perpendicular to that end. But it doesn't look like it. How do I verify wheter its true or not? my maths is weak, pitch = PCD X tan (helix angle), right?
  6. quote: I don't really care for surface contour to finish because it seems to take such a small stepdown to get a nice finish .....nevermind
  7. Original question: quote: If I use the new highspeed Horizontal Area toolpath to cut them, how do I cut the rest of the 3D area? I haven't seen the part but how about using waterline toolpath, isn't it like surface contour toolpath?
  8. wow! thanks for quick replies and solution.
  9. A customer of mine opened a very large 80 megs Soliworks file in mastercam V9 SP2 and this weird box pop up... what is it?
  10. quote: Just like that little woman at home so i guess Mastercam Tech Support person is actually a marriage councillor? if you're having an affair with other CAM software, don't let Mastercam know!
  11. for more info on pocketing options, you can check the mastercam 2005 newsletter in page 5 pdf here
  12. does increasing the tolerance help?
  13. asking for post after posting 38 times? that's a new record
  14. i can't repeat the problem over here. i tried exactly what you said.... can u repeat the problem on another file?
  15. i tried to repeat the problem but there's no error. why don't you share the file so the forum members can take a look at it. if you want me to help you, why don't you e-mail the file so i can take a look at it?
  16. Mastercam Art only has tolerance for Cut tolerance with no ratio setting, at least I can't find it...
  17. i'm using X MR1, i created a renumber button in the NC Functions Toolbar inside the editor and it works fine.
  18. not sure what you're talking about, is it pocket facing option? chain the main pocket that contains your "air walls" and chain the "islands" inside the main pocket that you don't want the tool to touch at all. under pocketing parameters u can set the pocket type to facing and set the overlap amount to the value u want.
  19. i just had sw2006 with assembly of 15 component doing expode view animation and opened mastercam X with a sample file and did a finish scallop cut with 0.08mm scallop height on 38 drive surfaces. ultra slow, but no crash at all. i'm doing my work on an old PIII PC. so, could be the PC specific problem. This is a long shot but does turning off advanced graphics in SW2006 make any difference?
  20. not sure what is B92.1, but aren't gear spline the same except for the angles?
  21. council oak, quote: Function not responding to MC_EXITFUNC request)with MasterCam X especially when ending verification mode I've seen this 5-6 times during training with 2 of my students using the same PC spec. I can't seem to repeat the problem when I do it. can you reproduce the problem? how did you do it?
  22. thanks Psychomill for the input so far we've been able to post out codes that runs on the machine, just having some holder collision problem i need to work out quote: ability to "tag" your sequences for easier searching. does anybody have any effective "tagging" method they'ed like to share?
  23. I've got a customer who want to use X with this machine: Its only used for finishing. Its used for parallel cuts only as it cannot take G02/G03. They had a previous obselete software that posted out CNC codes with the sequence number being a function of stepover. So that if they had any mishaps they could paste back the clay and easily look for it and start at the problem sequence. Is it possible for me to adjust the post so that the codes generate with the sequence number being a function of stepover? Where do I start? Thanks in advace. I'll be on a one week leave, so can't wait to see what you guys have to say....
