  1. Umm, the owner of this shop thinks all software is like playing the Atari 2600. He was so impressed that I picked up on Mastercam that he thinks everyone can do that with UG. I have to give Mastercam credit for making it so easy to learn the basic functions. We actually have a trial period on the UG Cam for a few months, so he really didn't pay for that, but UG will not get a sale if they don't offer some kinda training. One of the designers was recently forced to resign cuz he wasn't productive enough on UG NX4 after only using it for 9 months. He was very good at Solidworks though. This moldmaking business certainly sucks at times. Everyone in management (customers and vendors included) are nothing but a bunch of lying xxxx and will do anything to screw over the other party. Our biggest customer, who is very happy with our work, is 180 days behind in payment. What gives with these people?! Sorry. I had to vent.
  2. Damn. Now I'm nervous bout the UG thing. UG was just loaded on my tube and I can't figure it out. The three designers, who each have 8+ years experience on UG can't figure it out either. I was suppose to dig into this further, but they expect me to keep the machines running at the same time. UG wants us to attend a class at $3K each, but the owner here won't pay for that. Mastercam has a hard time handling our very large parts, and the UG salesman demonstrated to the owner that they have the answer. I wonder why my partner and I (who happens to do all the programming here) wasn't included in the demonstration. I see this becoming a dead issue at our shop very fast. I certainly hope Mastercam can somehow speed up their toolpath generation. Right now I'm experimenting with Powermill and noticed that it processes toolpaths much faster.
  3. Thanks David. I'll check it out tomorrow when I get back to work and let ya know if it works.
  4. Currently I import my cad data from UG NX4 with a parasolid. The colors are somewhat accurate to the UG colors. But, when I import cad data from UG as a step file, the colors are just one color. Is there a setting in X2 or UG that can resolve this problem? Our designers color code engineering changes for me and it would be useful if I could replicate the colors from a step file.
  5. I also gave up on the high speed toolpaths. I have to program and operate the machines. Everything I do is in a rush and I don't have time to wait for toolpaths to generate. Although, the high speed horizontal toolpath is useful to me. Some of my larger parts would just choke on the high speed toolpaths.
  6. Is there any way to lock in the face selection rather than gliding the cursor across the solid and watching the cursor to switch from a cube to a square?
  7. tagrpsti, have you resolved that $$$$$$$ problem yet? I'm still banging my head on this one.
  8. You mean I've been doing all that selecting for nothing??? Sheez! Thanks John!
  9. If that machine is under warranty, be sure to call Haas on EVERY hiccup.
  10. We have a new Haas VM2, VM3, and EC-1600. We are constantly plagued by software problems. It seems the software on the machines have been updated several times, with minor improvements, but we still get odd hiccups. The HAAS MUST have 80 LBS PSI, or it WILL NOT run properly and the toolchanger will error. The programmable coolant nozzle has also been an issue. I had the serviceman look at that yesterday and he mentioned that they had a large batch of defective nozzle units. It will be replaced under warranty next week. These are my first experiences with the Haas machines and I'm happy with the results if you keep the feedrates down. The high-speed machining capabilites are kind of a joke compared to my Fanuc 18i controlled machines. Give me another year of experience with these models and I can get you a true opinion on these machines. I just hope I won't be dissappointed.
  11. Ok, I helped my situation by changing the "select color". But the crosshair seems to automatically change colors with every color I choose in the "select color config". I guess there isn't an option to force the cursor to stick to one color.
  12. Thad, I never thought of that. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. I was hoping to have a black crosshair. There are only a few colors that these eyes can distinguish. It would also be nice if I could increase the size of the crosshair too.
  13. Is there any way I can change the color of the cursor? The cursor is close to the same color and shade as my surfaces and a color blind idiot like me can't see the crazy cursor.
  14. peon

    X2 verify

You can actually increase it to 100000, but you can only save it as 10000 in your config. Is this a bug anyone?
  15. I have the exact problem in the Bottom Plan. From now on when I select a circle for drilling, I use "Entities" rather than the manual selection. This seems to work.
  16. We also had a seat of MR2 that locked up and crashed often. We updated the video driver and our pain was relieved.
  17. Did you try raising your "moves/refresh" to 100000?
  18. Mb1 and Chris. I downloaded the install file off the website again today, but still get the same errors as Mb1
  19. Any ideas Chris? I'm wondering if it is an issue with the AMD Processor.
  20. Chris. I tried to register those file that you suggested. But, I get an error in the status window. "x Error opening registry"
  21. Chris. In the user accounts, I'm administrator.
  22. Chris, not sure. I'm the only one who uses this tube and never had problems loading software in the past. How do I find out if I have them priviledges? Thanks
  23. Are there any known issues with the 64-bit version of .NET 2.? See this thread: http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...ic;f=1;t=023129
