  1. Today
  2. ahhhhh sh**. yeah im not doing any contract work anymore. lol
  3. Learn the process to build your own machines and controls. If a customer has Vericut then request a copy of their machine. Terms and conditions are extremely important in this regard. I carry 3 different liability polices totaling about $5 million in coverage. I have had to hire a lawyer a few times over the years, but clearly state not responsible for collision or crashes. I provide the Vericut Summary when the project is done if the customer has Vericut if not then it falls back on them to prove out the code. I also have a FAI clause that if they don't bring up any issues in the FAI and run parts the responsibility falls back on them and not my company. Had customers run 100 parts that were not to print because they gave me the wrong model that was not to the correct revision to program to. 12 years ago I did have that in the terms and conditions and refused to pay for the work even though it was there fault and I could prove it was their fault. I have condition that a customer has 10 days after program is submitted to review and approve. If after 10 days they have no issues to report they consider the programs acceptable. Had customers not going to run parts for 3 months and expect me to wait until they run the programs to get paid 30 days after they ran the programs. Nope I am a service as such pay me for my efforts. Many people want to get into contract programming and consulting. Read up on AB5 in California and see how that is coming to the whole USA. 1099 people will be a thing of the past thanks to the unions if they are doing work like that of the company hiring them. Either you are a Bona Fide Business doing a B2B transaction or an employee. AB5 is such a bad law it has had so many expectations added. Here is some light reading for those thinking of getting into contract programming. Link 1 AB5 Law Some of the expectations Who is willing to tell a major machine builder they are not correctly calibrating customer machines? Imagine if I sold Software and then had to tell one of the major builders their process for doing that was not good? Do you think they would want to recommend my software to anyone to use for programming their machines? Want to tell one of the major Space Companies they have not done the correct DFM(Design for Manufacturability) on a part and they are not going to make their launch window? Just a list of small things I have had to do in the last 12 years. Recently had to loose a customer due to some issues on our end and not get paid for 150 hours of work. That hurt, but part of running a business is you win some and you loose some.
  4. Been reported numerous times maybe this time it will get addressed.
  5. Thanks Aaron! Thanks Steven! I was just able to duplicate the issue following the steps of D-48731... in our latest MC code... and in debug! I'll see if I can get this prioritized and see if I can get it fixed. (I'm not sure how I missed this one - I try to stay tuned into the forums and stay on top of stock model operation bugs, but completely missed this one. Sorry!)
  6. Thank you Aaron. Good to know it's not just me.
  7. Yep! Here's two recent threads on it: When Curt and I were working on it this past December, Bill, it was logged under D-48731. With this one, Save (or Save As) always fixes it.
  8. It is maybe worth noting that with basic solids like block or sphere, they are parametric. You can go back and just change the numbers to re-size. Also, any extrude function can be edited to change the distance with just a number. But the thing that I have found interesting over the last several versions is that in analyze mode you can edit XYZ locations of endpoints of lines and center points of arcs, as well as radius or diameter and sweep angle of arc and the vector angle of a line, and the the 3D length of either. Changing 3D length and sweep or vector doesn't give you a choice of which end is going to change, so that's not very good control. But it does allow you to just change numbers to modify the chained geometry for a solid function.
  9. It happens to me a lot randomly too. I saw Aaron chimed in on this post the other day, I don't think I have tried to just hit save and regen as he said, I think I have just restarted Mastercam like you do.
  10. This may have been logged, recently, as D-54519. It, too, was a stock model operation that picked up another shape (mesh, solid, ...). That issue also went away when Mastercam was restarted. I tried to duplicate the issue but was not successful. If possible, would you send your part to [email protected]? Thank you. Is this MC2024? Do you recall what other work you did before creating the stock model operation? Did you have Mastercam running for some time? Were you working on other part files? Anything you recall may help me duplicate this issue.
  11. Thank you so much!! Today I can navigate without problem
  12. I will take advantage of the fact that from June 3 to 7 there is a fair 60km from where I live, and I will stop by their stand so they can explain how it works a little. https://biemh.bilbaoexhibitioncentre.com/
  13. Pretty frequently I have an issue where I will create a stock model, and it will grab other solids in the file that I never selected. Tombstones, vises, fixtures, etc. Usually I can just restart MC, and create a new Stock Model, and it will be fine. Any idea what could be causing this? For instance, in this screenshot, the piece of stock is the only thing I selected, and it adds the tombstone and Rock Lock base to the stock model.
  14. Ditch STL and export as a step file from your modeling software. Pretty sure prusaslicer supports step files now.
  15. Same cat-like reflexes it takes to nab the big-red-button just in time. I'll defer to decades of video games for those - mad tight ribbon skills are a happy consequence, lol
  16. Oh I don't doubt they're stupid expensive to replace. As far as growth and such it was pretty damn stable. Was an excellent machine for super tight mold work.
  17. thanks. it looks like he hasn't been here in a year. i downloaded the conversational and iso 3 axis ones from the mastercam website. the conversational is pretty close . i need to figure out how to add the little squiggly at the end of the drill cycle parameters. it is yelling at me currently
  18. That's makes sense We've got 1g up/1g down here.. I just ran a test and it's running about 850K each way on my desktop My Android phone is running through a guest Wi-Fi network which is running 150K That would explain why my desktop was totally blocked and my phone could still see eMC's front page

  20. Our IT guy has looked into this, he had recently modified the rate limiting settings based on recommended levels to catch malicious bots and other such reprobates/degenerates but apparently it was low enough to catch some particularly speedy legitimate users. He's raised the limit so it should help prevent some of these site-crashers without interfering with legitimate human users, hopefully. Let me know if it keeps happening and we'll tweak it some more
  21. Get a quote from them...see what it all entails....no, it's not cheap, our purchase was substantially costlier, more than 2x's, but we added other things as well. Only through working with them will you get a clear picture..... You're a contractor....ask yourself this, what happens if a machine crashes and the customer comes back on you for recompense? Are you insured? Have you taken every step possible to ensure a crash doesn't happen through any code created by you?
  22. Just like Mastercam has a large library of posts processors available for download from the Tech Exchange, Vericut installs a substantial library of machines. It also ships with all the tools needed to build your own machines.
  23. Ok, so as a summary, you pay approximately 30k for the software, and also for each machine x$. it's right?
  24. I keep thinking about vericut, and I have a question. Is the price for the software or is it limited to one machine? I mean if I have 7 5x machines, does the price stay the same or does it increase?
