Storkman,

This is exactly what has been done to resolve any further future problems. I truly do believe that this individual did not fully understand the implications and legalities of installing such software. He is a newbie out of school, and although this is still not an excuse, it will be a lesson learned.

Besides he is still allowed Internet eccess - But only to Mastercam and Emastercam.com!

Thanks for the understanding all!

Dan !

And everyone else !

I am Iskander`s voice :

"

I never said that what this poor fellow made was good .

I only say that I would react different and your

way of dealing with this thing contradicts to my moral principles .

Being the atheist with moral principles ,I will

nevertheless turn to religion .

One of great Jewish religious teachers sais in Talmud :

Ten zhut al-yadey zakay,ve ten hova al -yadey hayav .

That means one very basic ,but important thing :

Good things leave to good man ,and bad things to bad .

Also in the same book you`ll find a prayer :

G-D almighty ,don`t choose me to be your punishing hand !

This is a basic principle and it is simple -

try not to punish ,at least not to exagerate punishment .

If you punish too much ,the man will hide inside him hatred and will live with it all his life and

you`ll be responsible .

You`ll be responsible for his shame and humiliation ,and he may basically from a good guy

turn to bad by your own hands ,you `ll create yet one more criminal ,misanthrope or homeless .

That`s religious principle ,but I share it too .

How would I act :

I will talk with him privatly ,explain the moral aspect and the punishment and the responsibility of you and your company for his actions .

That would teach him a good lesson and I doubt he would ever do it .

You acted publicly and I fear many others know now his story .

That`s a bad thing .

Why ,even in Russian army in sergants school the first thing we learned was to punish a guilty man in private as far as possible giving him chance to restore a good name and this thing works as far as I know .

I prefer encircle me with a friends ,not with enimies ,I have them too much anyway ,because I always say what I think .

That`s the first thing to say .

Now comes he second :

In dark ages I am sure they would burn me alive together with a bunch of witches and wizards .

In any country .

Because people always fear things they don`t understand and wish not to understand .

Knowledge can be destructive and can be protective .

But you can not protect if you don`t know how to destruct .

That`s always divided people on two groups white and black wizards ,kinda .

I am protector .

I never cracked anything not because the fear of punishment ,but because of my moral principles .

I try to raise my daughters the same way .

The inner self is the worst judge ,your sin stays with you forever,no matter you caught or not .

But knowledge protects too .

Having known how easily I can be tracked and how

it is close to impossible to hide the trail I would never do iteven without moral principles too .

So what`s wrong to educate the people .

Hacker is not a bad guy ,as you think .

He is a bit geek ,but what`s wrong with that ?

He is a guy that asks questions and finds answers and don`t believes anything without checking himself .

Now everyone can go to hundreds sites ,take some backdoor dropper and hack your computer .

I want you to know that this person will never be me ,it is against my principles .

I can dedicate my humble efforts to cracking Mastercam ,as you may think ,or Microsoft products ,as you suppose ,still I would never do it .

And not only because I have obligations ,signed agreements and fear of punishment .

I never destuct .

That`s my basic principle .

I like to help ,I like smiles and laugh ,I do not want tears of children after the next virus ,that can be mine in theory ,but never will be in practice .

I come and repair and that`s enough for me and I never take money .

About this poor fellow .

I am happy that this guy stays at your work .

Now comes most hard thing to say , I fear flames

rising about me .

I will turn to religion one last time .

Jews before Yom Kippur say to everyone :

Sorry if I hurt you in any way and can you forgive me .

This means that if you hurt someone unintentionally You must say this anyway .

The hatred ,feel of mistreat and pain is the worst thing .

Cross over your pride and became friend with this guy and who knows maybe one day you`ll say that I was right !

"

Peace

What the heck? headscratch.gif

Like I said before, my intentions for the post were simple. I think this is heading down a very rediculus path. As I said previously, Thanks for everyones understanding, except for a few down in Pooh hollow - I don't understand where you are going with your replies. I think most would agree - What the heck! headscratch.gifcuckoo.gif

We will take the appropriate steps on our side to deal with the situation. In fact we already have.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Take note -We .
I said why you made this thing be Known to everyone
I would deal in private .
Why to humiliate someone even if he made something wrong for a first time ?
He may read this now.
His work comrades may read this now.
Why?
Was it not enough to talk him and you personally for a first time ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What the heck?

I thought you understand me headscratch.gif

Moral issues? headscratch.gif

I believe when these situations arise you do have some loyalty issues. And mine lie with the other 90+ employees we have here. One guy running bogus software could be enough to close the doors on the place. If he is punished publicly or not, I don't care. But taking food out of the mouths of 90 familys plus my own, becomes a major priority.

"We" as in a team of fellow employees. "We" because "I" do not own the company I work for. "I" need to inform my employer of any acts commited that are either illegal or against my "Employers" ethics. That way "WE" all get to keep our jobs. No humiliation, no dishonor, nobody got fired. "WE" are still employed and working as a "team".

Please let it rest.

Bullines? Any input?

You are absolutly right ,Storkman !

But what with the guy ,anyway .

~~~~~~~~~~~
I do .
You never made mistakes ,Storkman ?
Never was in his place
You know ,when you are young .... ?
You think that is a propper way to deal so hang him at the middle of the workshop as a lesson .
I would make it known to everyone that Noone has a right to install anything and what responsibilites are .
Simple and clear .
But nevertheless I would try to end this matter privatly .
I may be wrong ,that is my personal views and my morals .
And you are entitled to them. I'm not saying yu are wrong Iskander. You must always try to keep these issues within the smallest circle possible. But your superiors have to be made aware of these issues too. If nothing else, just to stop repeated instances. JM2C.
...Steve always always always check with Arlene before you take that new job...
Friends, take note... it is ALWAYS a good idea to have a good relationship with your local Mastercam Reseller. User or Buyer, makes no difference, besides if you're a good programmer, and they know you, they may turn you onto a good job tip if you ever find yourself unemployed.
OBTW, Arlene is our local Mastercam rep, and is ALWAYS ready to help out a LEGIT MC user/company in SoCal.
~~~~~~~~~~

I had a hard time explaining this to someone at work and from that day he does not use it .

We talked privatly .

I always call my dealer to see if a company offering me a job really owns Mastercam.

I don't mean to steer the topic in a different direction, but isn't this wrong also? I would expect that my dealer would keep private the details of my purchases with them.

... besides, employers do a background check into prospective employees right? What's wrong with doing a little background on a prospective employer? Nothing, absolutely nothing IMHO. If they can look into my credit, I can certainly see if they are pirating the software I'm going to be using to earn my living with!

Nothing wrong with that according to my moral principles .

Also very true

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
figure if they'll steal from Mastercam, they'll steal from me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You see ,there lays a distance equal to the ocean between the newbie kid and a guy that fools software vendor ,his workers and clients .

When you are young you can have a fault here and there ,most improtant thing not to be broken ,offence ,abuse and hatred can ruin all your life .

When I learned CNC trade we had a guy ,very talented and bright .

In first work place as a test they gave him to measure some stuff with a caliper of a type he never saw .

It took him too much time ,teh bossman shout to him ,and said something like dumb imbecile .

This guy never found a job.He was broken .

He hates CNC from this moment and works as a low wager .
