How many using X only.

I am just wondering how many of you are using X full time and not going back to 9 as a crutch? Or does X still need refinements (bug fixes) before it can be used full time?

I'm sorry but from a productivity standpoint, 9 blows X away....

 

X is cool and all but I don't think it will replace 9 anytime soon, at least where I am sitting...

Dug into the X trench about 4 weeks ago and havent used 9 since. Yes, the first week was mostly unproductive, but now its become pretty fluent.

Same here. Im still configuring stuff little by litte, but I can easily program just as fast as I could with 9 I'd say

First week and a half pretty much goofed around with it. This is the first full week I am using it.

 

Sometimes its irritating, but usually its the learning curve.

 

I do like the new file merge. Except can't figure out where to apply my scale point.

But I tend to agree with some of the others that 9 also Ver good.

New tools in X make it quite appealing though...

 

Just a bunch of little annoyances that add up basiclly...

Everyone here can probably tell when I'm trying X....I'll post about 5 questions in about 5 minutes.

 

Crunch time and "wierd" stuff is all 9 still. I don't have much time to learn X now, just trying a little at a time with some simple programming (and hoping that the customer does'nt ask why I'm billing them so many hours for programming lately)

Using X almost exclusivly. I hate even having to load 9 to use the wire application. Please of Pleas get wire out in X asap.

 

The solid drill thing got me puzzled the other day so I created points and worked from there. Has anyone logged this as a bug yet?

Just got X loaded yesterday. From playing with it though for a couple days, I'd say it will be at least a couple months before our shops makes the total transition, if not longer for some. We have 5 full time programmers, over a dozen more in programming capacity (plus a few more 'sometimes-programmers') and the learning curve between each is all over the map.

 

I have the initial (and only) install so far. Will spend the next couple of weeks tweaking, learning and working out the bugs (not MC bugs but configuring for ourselves). Of course, I'm real busy right now and can't seem to find enough time to stick with it.

I have it loaded and when I get some free time I load it up and try a few things in it. But I have yet to run a program that I posted from it. Maybe in a couple weeks once I get all the settings configured out.

Made a bunch of fixtures with MCX out of S7 for one job, found 2 bugs (reported) and now waiting for SP1, which is supposed to be out tomorrow...but I've been wrong before

I have gone back to 9 once since getting X. Don't be afraid, alot of the so-called bugs people are throwing out are not really there, just a lack of knowing the new system. There are bugs, don't get me wrong, just not as many as people are claiming.

We started using X 3 weeks ago. Its quite a bit to learn, although I haven't worked with mastercam since version 7 so I am not quite as irritated as the rest who made the transition from version 9.

I'm not using X exclusively yet but am cutting steel. Biggest job so far has been sorting out the posts (still not quite there) and configuing to run 3 machines. If I was to do something in a hurry I draw in V9 open in X and do the toolpaths. I find the Toolpathing faster in X. Still getting my head around the new ways of doing things in X, have to admit there has been some frustration. This forum has been invaluable in the transition between V9 and X I feel that we are able to learn a lot from each others different questions and experiences.

I started playing with X this week after a few calls to my dealer we ran our first part with X that had 3 programs. I am still working in V9.

The more I use X the more I like it. Miss a few keyboard strokes though. Unfortunatly I'm still waiting for my post to be finished. I guess the X translator can't handle it. I think its just as productive as V9, just in a different way. Sorta the same way a brand new mustang is better than a 1960's muscle car. Instead of POWER, you get efficiency...

We've been using x for about a week if we get the crashes remedied it seems productive. But we spend as much time in 9 as in x. So the 60's muscle still gets me there with out losing hours of work pulling off the side of the road and starting over!
