Is there a code that will stop the machine but leave the spindle on? They want to sue it to deburr & polish threads.

Keep the manual spindle start/stop in the hands

of the operator. Trying to mix cnc and manual ops

is a dangerous game to play with someones life.

Yep. Been there and tried to do it. It just doesn't work. I still have all my digits, they're just really scarred up now.

Build a loop macro with dwell so it cycles the dwell in a closed loop without the block delete on.

As soon as they are done, they can turn on block delete and cycle out of the dwell loop then carry on.

I have to agree with Bruce.

eek.gif Don't ask operators to do manual finishing in a lathe. eek.gif

Program using some burr-less machining practices. Bench polishing is exactly that, a "bench" operation.

A couple years ago, I had to bring one of my operators to the ER. The owner wanted him to polish parts in the lathe manually, and without a doubt, it only took 2 weeks for him to get bored, lazy, tired, or whatever.

The end result was a slip, 4 severed fingers, a lawsuit, and a workman's comp claim.
