X4MU3 trying to install when I click on folder in Windows???

It's another bug. You can name your Mastercam folder anything you like during the initial install, so long as you never change it. If you rename the folder, Mastercam decides all on it's own, to install itself into a new folder. If don't cancel it, you'll have two seperate copies of MC installed on your computer.

The only way I was able to fix it on my boss' computer, was to completely uninstall, then re-install, using the same folder name everyone else was using.

Why would you try and change the folder name after. this is windows if you change the folder then you have broken the link to the path for the software. So I do not call this a bug. Ron next time it does this just put the disk in and let it do its thing. It will not install over your system. what you have is it wants to finish the install it will go for a min then stop take the disk out and it should not do it again.

If you rename the folder,

If you rename your install folder

you destroy your install.

All sorts of links and registry

setting get broken and Mastercam

can't run..

Any software will do this..

try renaming C:windows and see what happens

I think there are 2 different questions here. The windows explorer issue I have seen before. Not sure why it happens but letting it run solves the problem. My hunch is that I had this after uninstalling a mastercam add-in

Also just be aware that MCVIEW.DLL is not supported for x64 systems. this is why it is not installed

As for renaming the install folder as someone else mentioned eek.gif
