X4MU3 trying to install when I click on folder in Windows???

Ok explain me this one. I click on a folder and the X4MU3 install keeps trying to run. I deleted the file from my computer and it still wants to run the install. Any ideas??

Actually, this has happened on my virtual machine a couple times. All I do is click cancel when it happens and all is fixed

I think I just ran the install CD and did a repair

and it went away. That was awhile back though.

It's another bug. You can name your Mastercam folder anything you like during the initial install, so long as you never change it. If you rename the folder, Mastercam decides all on it's own, to install itself into a new folder. If don't cancel it, you'll have two seperate copies of MC installed on your computer.

 

The only way I was able to fix it on my boss' computer, was to completely uninstall, then re-install, using the same folder name everyone else was using.

Just let it run and do what it's gonna do and it won't happen again.

I've had this problem now with X3 & X4. Solved it by un-registering/re-registering mcview.dll using the MC control panel applet.

 

there should be only one copy on your system in "C:Program FilesCommon FilesMastercam"

Why would you try and change the folder name after. this is windows if you change the folder then you have broken the link to the path for the software.So I do not call this a bug. Ron next time it does this just put the disk in and let it do its thing. It will not install over your system. what you have is it wants to finish the install it will go for a min then stop take the disk out and it should not do it again.

I thought I read somewhere this problem can be caused by old,or non mastercam dll files in the mcam folder??? Can't remember right now.

Well I let the install run, but seen this on 3 different computers. I will keep you posted when I can pinpoint what is causing it.

Sorry, but that's not a bug. Renaming an installation forlder AFTER the install is not a bug. That's operator error IMHO.

I think there are 2 different questions here. The windows explorer issue I have seen before. Not sure why it happens but letting it run solves the problem. My hunch is that I had this after uninstalling a mastercam add-in

 

Also just be aware that MCVIEW.DLL is not supported for x64 systems. this is why it is not installed

If you are on a network you need administrative rights to finish the install. Otherwise, it will keep trying to install every time because it never finished the previous install.
