M,

It's the SWorks doc manager it's not registered correctly. You can manually register the dll.

To manually register SWorks Doc Manager in McamX5

- open the computer control panel

- click on the McamX applet to open the properties

- use the drop down to select the Mcam version

- open the Mastercam properties and select components

- open the C location

- go to C: program files\ mcamx5\ common\ SWorksdata\

- right click on the SwDocumentMgr.dll file to unregister then register the component

Hope this does the trick for you. B)

Hello all, I tried this fix on a coworkers PC and it did not work. My work station is the only one that has SolidWorks, if a station does not have SolidWorks, should they still be able it open SolidWorks part files in Mastercam. Right now I have to save all of my models as .step files for everyone else to be able to open them in Mastercam.

Thanks,

Chris

Yes, Mcam will open a sldprt file without having SWorks loaded on the computer.

What version of Mcam are you running?

What version of SWorks are files being created in?

McamX6 will open SWorks 2012

McamX5 will open SWorks 2011

So is there a patch coming out to open SW 2013 files?

All CNC needs is the SDK from SW. SW is ussally pretty slow in getting that out. At least a month or two usually. CNC usually turns it around in fairly short order.
