It has its advantages, takes a lot of getting used to. i wish after its set it was easier to rotate x,y,z. when selecting a solid face you dont get enough options for vector directions. I always have to save to somthing close and then rotate it. needs to be more accesible.I use it most for one sided work. it can be a pain when doing 4 axis index work.

If you are importing files that were not constructed on the work plane that you are using,it is needed.

All of our programming starts with our own cad drawing,so we construct it where we want to machine it.

I have used it a couple of times, but even after taking intermeduate class at the reseller,it is still confusing to me.

Maybe I should fly down to sunny Cal. and spend a week with you and 'Rekd. biggrin.gif

WCS... Sometimes a little confusing, but I could not imagine being without it now. It makes programming a lot quicker. Now I work off the original file without having to rotate, transform, change levels, etc.. One file, twenty different programs on twenty different WCS.

A "must have" tool for machining parts......

I don't use it that much, but when I do it makes the job sooooo much better...(no more multiple files)

If I imported some geometry in that was not lined up in the plane that suited me, I would just rotate the part where I wanted it, its not THAT hard to do.

But if I have a part that gets machined on more than one side.....well..... there ya go....

Murlin teh right tool for teh right job

It's a great tool. Were a mold shop and use it alot

when making electrodes. It saves having to create

multiple files for each elctrode.

I would like to see an option in the ops manager

to be able to set the WCS to an operation group

name. Or am I missing something

The only Hang up I run into

Is When I Don't think far enough ahead and one of

My Alternate orgins Flips the Part Where its not

Orientated in the Vice/etc As it should be.

And I suck at Editing this "Phenomenon" without

Lighting up the operations page like a Christmas tree.

Also Having it all come together in Verify

can be a hit or miss for me too.

I get these cad drawings from the Navy that are drawn out in free space somewhere. It was always a problem, translate, mirror, rotate, save as file1. Then again, file2 etc. I always thought it could be easier, now it is. Although I havent used it much yet, just you wait Navy, just try and send another file, I'll show you. smile.gif

A great tool once understood. Those of you who

don't use it put in the extra time its well

worth it. I created a cube to start then created

wcs's all around, this will help you get a basic

understanding.

Plus I read the tutorial.

I'm going to give it a try.

I have been repicking my "Stock Box Corners"

In job for each Alternate orgin set of operations.

Also If your stock is Rightside up but your

cutting air then in your tool parameters

Make sure your T/C box is checked and inside there

Check your Z's I make sure There set to Named

The Same name as My Alternante Orgin

(Copy of system view 3 Back)etc.

GoodLuck.. wink.gif

Tony, setup your first op using the WCS or not define the stock at the time.

Now program using the WCS for the rest of the block.

When done set the WCS back to the start location were you set the stock. I suggest checking real fast make sure it's right for that location.

Then go to ops manger and select all ops and varify you will get all ops around the same block.

I do this daily..

Good luck
