At what point is it finally going to be safe to actually install and use X7? I fully expect another email from my reseller next week telling me that the latest fix of a fix of a fix of a fix didn't completely fix X7, so they are issuing a new fix.

I can't wait for X7 MU4 SP6 Hotfix 3 to get here!

This is spot on!!!

Bucktruck and Calliespro, if you have issues you are concerned about and would like a status please feel free to email [email protected] and we can look them up for you and help you figure out what you should install or not install to meet your needs. Or if you are aware of an issue and want to make others aware, please feel free to do so. It's a whole lot more productive for those reading this thread. Based on our interactions with customers many of them HAVE installed X7 and ARE safely and effectively using X7.

The problems that I am having are mainly with the Verify. It takes forever to load the ops that I want to verify, and If I have it stopping after each op to check what I have programmed it to cut it takes a long time to be able to roll it around to check it. When it is done cutting, it takes even longer to save the part to get ready for another verification of other ops that have been programmed. I was able to program and verify around 3 to 4 cranks a day in X6, with X7 it is hard to get 2 done. I have tried to send the programs to the machine without verifying, but we have had crashes in doing so.

I have contacted my reseller and they have said that this verify was done in house and not by the outside source that was used for X6. That to me is not a very good excuse. I have went back to using X6 until this can be solved.

Any help would be appreciated here!!!

Thanks for the information Calliespro. Have you or can you send us a part file that you have had problems with? If so send us a zip2go file and send it to [email protected]. That way we can review your system specs and the part.

Also, can you provide some information about your work flow, not just in Mastercam, but all applications you might have open or using at the same time? The more we have the better we can try to duplicate a similar environment that you are working in. Are your parts being save locally or on a network?

Jim,

I'll boil it down to this: I get paid by my boss to make parts (read: $$) for his company, not to help CNC Software diagnose and troubleshoot their software. Thus, if I spend hours downloading, installing, updating machine and control definitions, posts, etc, and the first part I try to run on X7 gives me error messages, I am going to be a bit p!ssed and go back to using what works.

I make bicycle parts for a living. If I designed a new brake and it "sort of" worked, but released it to our customers anyway, people could get hurt (or die), our reputation would go to sh!t, we would lose $$$, might get sued, etc. In the end, we would go out of business. So, I wait until the design is perfect and test the crap out of the product before it goes to market, rather than leaving it up to my customers.

Don't get me wrong, Mastercam has helped make us a buttload of money over the past decade and a half. But I will wait until the complaints and subsequent "fixes" for X7 die down a bit before I start using it everyday. Hopefully, that is sooner than later.

Regards,

Bucktruck
