  1. Had to do it in 2020, all I have....check out how I set my path and planes up JP_screen.mcam

  2. To me, this sounds like there is a collision check set up on either the part or stock....collision checking against the stock should not be enabled.. From half a country away, can't say with certainty though

  3. I was having this same issue and your fix did exactly what I needed. If I had a part on the 0 side and wanted to machine on the 270 side, it would post A270. But, if my part was too big to go all the way around, I would have to manually edit the A270. to A-90. With this edit to the post, I now get -A90. for the 270 side, and A90. for the 90 side. Thanks!

  4. Seriously, just give the person a basic part, ask them to spend 30 minutes and evaluate their work, finished or not..you'll get the idea on how they setup their part and paths..

  5. Careful saying this..... Soon as you speak in absolutes lightning will strike and it won't be true anymore... Many times that you wouldn't actually do this. But as default behavior on a table/table machine, sure, no hurt as long as you have the option to suppress it or use another method on the fly via misc ints/reals. No need to get the tool out of there and then get back in if you don't need to.

  6. Yeah Don't expect much out of it if you're not paying to tie the post to it

  7. I do this all the time with one machine group and may have 20 operations for one part. WCS helps and many ways to organized and keep your work tidy. I make each operation and main group and then make sub groups in that operation group. Here is one I am currently working on: Here is my planes manager.

  8. When using mirror(unless you programmed everything on centerline with wireframe, you have to go through so much BS that you might as well just mirror the model and reselect everything.

  9. I usually take the safe route and mirror my geometry and copy the toolpaths and select new geometry and regen the toolpath. Not as elegant but it works, my files and parts are relatively small though.

  10. If you don't have to worry about losing your job then mirror and post and go run the parts on the machine. What is the worst thing that can happen you crash and tear up your machine. Sorry not trying to make lite of your situation, but unless I have run the code through CAV not something I would ever do no matter the CAM Software that mirrors a toolpath. That said in Mastercam I will do like suggest above or copy the file and then mirror that copy of copy the operation to a new machine group and then go through and copy my levels then mirror those levels and go from there. Sorry the auto-magic easy button so many keep taunting for what we do still isn't there yet IMHO. Will we be out of a job one day I have no real idea. I am still of the mind set God gave us our talents and no way a A.I. or anything else will ever match the creative part of our souls. Some thing are easy and they work great with mirror other things do take some tweaking, but compared to where it was in V9 we are light years ahead and improving every version along the way. I got tools in my toolbox I haven't touched in 20 years, but I have that specific tool when I ever need it. Use what you got the best you know how and trust me everything else will fail in place with some good old trial and error.

  11. Walk one day in my shoes and then you can understand my thoughts. See what all I have done for people over the years in the way of help then you might get a better idea of what and why I commented the way I did. Might also know we emailed each other many times after this thread and helped them get going in the right direction for free, but again you haven't walked a day in my shoes so you can only see the posting for your side of the screen not mine. Have a great day and thank you for the one and run.

  15. I guess I don't understand why Mastercam even messes with machine sim since its only good for showing off to the customers that come through the office, the fact you have to pay to tie it to your post is absolutely ridiculus. This is my biggest gripe about Mastercam, can someone explain the reasoning other than the $$$$$$$.
