  1. Please take a moment to read the following X2 installation issues. Please make sure that everyone in your organization that may take a phone call from a customer about installations receives this message. Uninstall removes modified files The issue to be aware has to do with uninstalling a previous version of Mastercam X. If you uninstall any previous version of X (X, X MR1, X MR2 and even X2) either using the recommend installation option in a Mastercam install or by using Add/Remove programs any default Mastercam file that was installed will be removed upon completion of the uninstall. If you have modified a file installed by Mastercam, it will be removed by the uninstall. As stated in the documentation and the following Tech Tip on the Mastercam website, we recommend backing up any and all modified files prior to performing an uninstall. This tech tip can be reached via this link http://www.mastercam.com/Support/TechTips/...precautions.htm. Currently we are working on a backup utility that the user can run at any time. This utility will backup all user customized files into a folder structure allowing the user to remove a previous version of Mastercam without losing their customized files. NOTE: The uninstall problem only affects files installed by the Mastercam installation (default Machines, Controls, posts, defaults, operations, KMP, MTB, etc). It DOES NOT affect any user created files. X2 requires .NET 2.0 Framework Mastercam X2 requires that the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework must be installed on your system for Mastercam X2 to run. The .NET 2.0 framework is NOT part of the web download, but it is part of the 2 Disk installation (Disk 1). There is a note and link on the Mastercam X2 downloads page regarding the .NET 2.0 download. X2 installations on XP64 If you are installing X2 on an XP64 machine, you will need to download and install the vcredist_x86.exe which is also available on the X2 Downloads section of Mastercam.com. If this File is not installed several components will not be registered during the X2 installation process and the user is notified of such. All these issues have been documented on Mastercam.com as well as the Mastercam forum. Thank you.
  2. Hi Peter - This is a known issue if you selected by "entity." The points are still sorted. This will be fixed.
  3. Check the videos directory of your X2 installation, the videos should be in there. I don't think the install is creating the file structure under the Start menu. Let me know if they are there.
  4. What is the exact warning message that you are getting, mtnflyr?
  5. Hi guys - I logged this as bug number cnc00024877. Thanks.
  6. Hi guys - This seems to be a bug on Windows 2000 systems only. It has been logged as cnc00024894. Thank you.
  7. Everyone who is receiving ERROR 1904 on their 64-bit installation, please click this link and install the file once the download is complete. After the installation is complete, please uninstall X2 and try to install it again. The error messages should no longer be present. Please let me know if it works as soon as possible. Thanks again for your patience.
  9. rnb1 - Are you using the same exact installation for all three machines (is it shared on a network drive) or did you download the installation individually for each machine (3 different installations)? It is possible that the install may have been corrupted, especially with such heavy traffic on the server, but if you are using the same installation than we can eliminate this.
  10. Try to manually register the four files using the Mastercam Control Panel Applet. Just browse to the file locations and press "apply." Afterwards, restart your computer and see if Mastercam will launch. I'm looking into this to see why it is occurring in the first place.
  11. Mattstang70 - Enter Control Panel / User Accounts. Your current user name should be in the administrator group.
  12. Mattstang70 and A.L.K. - Do you have administrative privileges on the machines that you are receiving the error messages?
  13. Mastercam X2 is now available on http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X2/Default.aspx. The version available via the website is the product only; CDs are being shipped and should arrive soon. Please keep in mind that the .NET 2.0 Framework MUST be installed on your system for X2 to run. Enjoy
  14. Hi guys - This has been logged as bug number cnc00024304. Thank-you.
  15. Hello gentlemen - I found a bug in MR2 that caused operations to be marked dirty when multiple instances of Mastercam were running. When multiple instances are being used, the binary NCI file of the second sessions is supposed to be stored in a subfolder in the temp directory. But what happened on occasions was that the temp folder for the second session ended up being the same as the first, so when File / Open of File / New was used in the second session, the operations in the first were essentially deleted. This bug has been fixed in X2. Does the following situation sound at all similar to what is going on with your part files? As Colin said, if you have any way of successfully duplicating the bug, please send QC an e-mail with the parts and steps to reproduce the problem. Thanks!
  16. I run a 7600 at home and I haven't had any unexpected issues.

  18. Hi guys - I logged two enhancement requests regarding this poll. The first is cnc00022872, requesting a circle mill cycle in MultiAxis operations. The second is cnc00022873 requests the ability to select geometry or diameter (or radius) while creating a circle mill operation. Thank-you!
  19. Hi Smit - This is a pretty good idea, and I don't believe it is possible to do this in solid drill at this point. I have logged this as enhancement request number cnc00022851. Thank-you.
  20. Settings / Configuration / Toolpath Manager. You should see a NC File name prompt. The setting most similar to MR1 would be to disable the "prompt" radio button and enabled the "Machine name" one.
  21. quote: I'm not sure what the 'haywire' colors issue is. Andrew, I'm not familiar with this issue either. If you can find a way to reproduce this problem, please send a sample file to [email protected] along with a detailed description. Thanks.
  22. DC Gorn - Is there any other way to duplicate this problem on a XP machine? I was unable to do so using your proceedure...just on Win2k. Thanks in advance.
  23. Mark - We got it this time. The SPAM filters may have stopped it on the first attempt. Thanks for your patience.
  24. Hi guys, The crash reports are actually sent to us. I am going to look into these and see if they point to anything specific. Thanks for your patience.
  25. Hi Mark "Couple of weeks ago I sent in another issue I had a problem with and got no response." We have received four e-mails total from you over the past year and a half. One was yesterday and the other three were from August of last year. We typically respond to e-mails in the order in which they are received, so you can expect a response for the one you sent yesterday in a day or two. Thank-you.
