  1. Anubis, 2D Pocket Highspeed smoothing did NOT work in X3. When this came to our attention, we were already late in the development cycle for MU1, and the severity of the issue was not fully known at the time. Fixing a bug at the last minute can create a lot of unintended consequences, including more severe bugs. I have increased the priority of this issue and it will be addressed for the next release. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. In regards to smoothing in 2D HST Area Mill, this seems to be working correctly over here. Can you send in a sample part file to QC with steps to reproduce the problem? Thank you in advance.
  2. Goldorak - When you left the file idle, was there a Solid in it? Or are those surfaces in the screenshot?
  3. PeterM - I know, I know. I was told it needs to be there by a few resellers. Just trying to make everyone happy. Mike_B and Racerx: Try and register SwDocumentMgr.dll in the commonsworksdata directory of your X3 MU1 installation. You can do this in the Mastercam Control Panel applet. Let me know if this works.
  4. Hi Everyone - We have just released Mastercam X3 Maintenance Update 1. This release addresses a number of issues that have been reported in previous Mastercam releases. Please view the “ReadMe.htm” file for detailed information on enhancements. “ReadMe.htm" can be found in the documentationreadme folder of your X3 MU1 installation. This release will not expire. The Mastercam.exe version number is 12.1.2.22. To download X3 MU1, please click the following link: http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X3/Default.aspx . Next, download "mastercamx3-mu1-web.exe." Once you have downloaded the *.exe file, double-click it to begin the installation. Mastercam X3 MU1 IS NOT a standalone installation. It is an update for Mastercam X3, meaning that X3 must be on the system to install this update. To uninstall X3 MU1, go into Control Panel and double-click “Add/Remove Programs” ("Programs and Features" in Vista) followed by clicking “Remove” next to “Mastercam X3 Maintenance Update 1.” Remember that all previous beta and PC versions of MU1 must be uninstalled before installing this version. DO NOT remove Mastercam X3 before removing MU1, as it will cause problems. Current maintenance is required to run X3 MU1 (cutoff date of 10-31-08). If you have any problems or suggestions, please either email [email protected] or post in the eMastercam.com forum. Thank you.
  5. Hi guys, This has been logged as bug number cnc00038890. Mill and Router Level 2 have a different resource file in the Operations Manager / right click menu than Mill (and Router) E, 1 or 2 because of the different toolpaths available (one surface rough and finish). This is why only Level 2 users are seeing this bug. It will be fixed in an update that should be released very soon. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
  6. Hello Rakesh, Please send any files that are needed to reproduce this problem to [email protected]. Thank you.
  7. Hi guys, I logged this as bug number cnc00039522. Thank you.
  8. Hi George, What kind of issues is the customer experiencing? I haven't heard about anything like this. If you can get some more details, particularly hardware / system information, this would be really helpful. Please send as much information as possible to [email protected]. Thanks in advance.
  9. rdshear - It has to do with database maintenance within Mastercam. The geometry can simply be converted, the toolpaths cannot. We make database changes every major release (V9 ---> X ---> X2 ---> X3) to increase product stability and calculation speed, amongst other things. This is the rough side effect of it. The data just is not the same. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  10. Hi Leandro, I have logged the feeds and speeds bug as number cnc00038557. As far as the file path bug in CD is concerned, what exact file paths are you trying to change to go to your "My Documents" folder? Could I have the exact path you are trying to enter, character for character as well? Please send this information to [email protected]. Thank you in advance.
  11. Hi David, Don't bother sending it in, I just logged it as bug number cnc00038318. Thanks.
  12. Toolman, I know you said this is not file-specific, but please send a small sample file to [email protected] with ATTN: Chris Bell in the subject line. Also, what operating system are you running (XP 64 I'm guessing from your sig, but it might be inaccurate)? Are you using any third-party applications? Did you initially migrate when installing X3? Do you work with the Operations Manager docked or undocked? Please provide as much information as possible. Thanks in advance.
  13. It is integrated into Mastercam. It is just Verify, but TrueSolid 5x is now free of charge for Multiaxis customers.
  14. All: We have just released Mastercam X3. This release addresses a number of issues that have been reported in previous Mastercam releases. Please view the “What's New in Mastercam X3.pdf” file for detailed information on the enhancements. The "What's New in Mastercam X3.pdf" file can be found in the documentation folder of your X3 installation. The Mastercam.exe version number is 12.0.4.20. To download X3, please click the following link: http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X3/Default.aspx. Next, logon and download "mastercamx3-web.exe." Once you have downloaded the *.exe file, double-click it to begin the installation. Please be patient with the download, it is a large (Approximately 595MB) installation that will take some time to complete. X3 will be able to run on the same system as Mastercam versions X through X2-MR2. Please remember that current maintenance is required to run X3 (06-30-08 or later). Also available on Mastercam.com are the X3 Mastercam Direct Converters, Catia Translator, Sample Files, Videos, and most recent version of InventorView. If you downloaded the pre-release version of X3, there is no need to download this, as it is the same exact version. If you have any problems or suggestions, please email [email protected]. Thank you.
  15. Rickster, Also remember that if you migrate, you will get lots of start-up MTB error messages if you have all of those 3rd-party apps loaded in X2 MR2. They will go away if you use the new "Purge" function when the errors pop up.
  16. As a little thank-you for all the excellent feedback that the users on eMastercam community provide, we would like to extend a special invitation to download the X3 Release prior to its official roll out which is scheduled for next week. The maintenance cutoff date for X3 is June 30th, 2008, so you must have maintenance on that date or later to run X3. To check your maintenance expiration date, click Help / About / Hasp in X2 MR2 (or check HASPX.exe in the Start menu) and that dialog will display your maintenance expiration date. To download and install Mastercam X3, click here. Save the file to your local hard drive, and when the download is complete, double-click on the self-extracting *.exe file and follow the installation instructions. Please feel free to post any feedback in this thread or email [email protected]. NOTE: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP x64 or Microsoft Vista x64, please note that to install this download, you may need to install a recent Microsoft Hotfix that will allow the self-extracting *.exe to run. You can download the hotfix here.
  17. Thwarted! Sorry for the confusion, guys!
  18. Jeff, Not a problem. Please let me know when you get this resolved and what the exact problem was. I like to keep these things documented.
  19. Hi Jeff, - Is your NetHASP.ini file (in the root of Mastercam) configured to point to the IP address of your NetHASP server? If not, try it. - Is port 475 open to any firewall that you are running? - Have you tried disabling the firewall? - Have you tried running just a dedicated NetHASP server without anyone else using the machine locally? - Are you running the latest drivers for the NetHASP (they can be found on Mastercam.com)? - Have you tried disabling antivirus software on your system temporarily to see if this alleviates the problem? - Has you dealer tried a different NetHASP? The SIM itself might be bad. A lot of things can contribute to NetHASP disconnection errors, but most of the time the issue lies within the user's network. These are just a few things to try. Your reseller might need to come for a visit and help debug these issues. I also really recommend getting a dedicated NetHASP server. I've used machines as old as pentium 2s to run just the Aladdin NetHASP server client (no Mastercam on the machine) and I have not had any problems. You don't need a screaming machine, but having someone use the computer as a work machine is asking for trouble. Hope this helps.
  20. Josh, I logged the first issue as enhancement request number cnc00036530. I haven't received the other part file yet, but I'll reply again when I do. Thanks again.
  21. Hi Josh, Regarding the first issue, it is working correctly. Using a different number of sheets will never optimize the yield. Some people want a hard sheet limit, especially when working with expensive scrap pieces (plastics). If they only have 5 pieces of X x Y material leftover, they want to run as many parts as possible on those sheets...almost like a filer quantity. It is always a good idea to leave the "Create Necessary Quantity" checkbox enabled and to not assume the number of sheets is correct when running a specific job. The results dialog will tell you how many sheets are necessary and you can always go back into the parameters and adjust some settings (grain direction, step angle, part to part distance etc.) to try and get a higher sheet utilization. I could request a message box informing the user of how many parts were not nested based on the (lack of) requested sheets if you would like. The second issue definitely sounds like a bug. Please send the part file to [email protected] with detailed instructions on how to reproduce the issue. Thank you for your help!
  22. Fixed the date... Don't worry, I'll be doing that until at least March...
  23. Mastercam X2 MR2 SP1 is now available for download. Please see the ReadMe for a detailed list of bug fixes in the SP. The fixes made in Patch001.exe and Patch002.exe are also included in this installation. Since they are no longer necessary, these patches will be removed from our website. To download X2 MR2 SP1, please click the following link: http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X2/Default.aspx . Next, right-click "mastercamx2-mr2-servicepack001.zip," select "Save link as" and choose a download location. Once you have downloaded the *.zip file, extract it, double-click on the *.exe contained in the installation folder and follow the installation instructions. Keep in mind that X2 MR2 must be installed on your system since SP1 runs on top of X2 MR2 (it is not a standalone installation.) Please note that an "Uninstall" folder will be created within your X2 MR2 directory. These are the backed up X2 MR2 files which are restored if X2 MR2 SP1 is uninstalled. To uninstall X2 MR2 SP1, go into Control Panel and double-click the “Add/Remove Programs” applet followed by clicking “Remove” next to “Mastercam X2 MR2 Service Pack 1.” It is important to uninstall X2 MR2 SP1 before uninstalling X2 MR2, otherwise the "mcamx/uninstall" directory will remain and could cause problems if a future release is installed to the same location. The required maintenance date does not change if X2 MR2 SP1 is installed. If you have any problems or suggestions, please either email [email protected]. Thank you. 24. Reposting this because I have received 0 responses: Hi guys, We're looking into this issue, but we could use some information from users affected by this problem: - What operating system are you using? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit? - Is anyone using command line switches in the shortcut when starting Mastercam? If so, what are they? - What versions of Mastercam do you have installed? - When you installed Mastercam X2 MR2, did you migrate from X2 MR1? - Please send [email protected] the following two files: C:WINDOWSSoftwareDistributionReportingEvents.log and C:WindowsWindowsUpdate.log. Title the email something along the lines of "Windows update crash." Thanks in advance.
  25. Hi, Jim, If you right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties', your operating system will be displayed under System. It should read Microsoft Windows XP Professional 64-bit Edition or something along those lines if it is a 64-bit OS.
