  1. That's what I thought I would hear, and i have been searching the forum and that's pretty much what all post's have lead too. I got a quote from my reseller for a Postability post for that machine. How much back and forth did it take getting the post dialed in. We also have Vericut with an accurate machine model for this machine.
  2. We have one of these mills at work, it has a Fanuc 31i model b control, a W-Axis for the Bridge, and a Right angle head with 1 degree indexing. I'm looking for info on setting up the Machine Def and which post to possibly use for this machine. Any help would be great.
  3. Mick, I have been using Mastercam for 20 plus years myself and I did go to TopSolid training. Like I said, I see that it is powerful but it is not in no way intuitive. All the documents and reference files and frames and don't get me started on building the damn tools. I am getting pissed just thinking of all the BS you have to do just to try and get a job done. I do not want to hear about I done a job so much faster with this than MC. Well that's just fantastic. I have used other Cam systems and this has to be the worst software I have seen to get code onto the shop floor! Don't think for a second that I haven't been looking for another job!
  4. I already have my own seat of Mastercam 2017, bought and paid with my own money, I do contract programming on the side. I haven't asked if I could install it but I would guess no way. I know 100% that I could be more productive with MC than Topsolid. We have 6 programmers here and not one person likes TS.
  5. Oh no, my problem isn't with Mastercam. It's at my new job, they have Topsolid 7. It is the most unintuitive software I have ever had the misfortune of working with. It's powerful I'll give it that, but DAMN at all the hoops to jump through. God forbid you need training!! I'm sick of it, I have never been so unproductive in my life!! Makes me just want to push a broom all day, then I could at least say I accomplished something!!
  6. We use a spring loaded center in our sub spindle. It makes you really think about what you are doing thats for sure.
  7. On an Okuma LB3000 I have to have an X0.0 on the same line as the G77 or it will alarm.
  8. Oneyankfan why did you have to delete those files?
  9. Greg that would be amazing to use something like that on our new okuma LB3000 EXii. It has live tooling, sub and y axis. I have been using the sample code that the ap's guy came up with and copy and pasting it to do the part transfer.
  10. Joe, do you have to cancel it when drilling or tapping?
  11. I recently started a new job programming and setting up an Okuma LB3000EXII MYW. It has an OSP300L controller, and we bought the Inhouse Okuma post. I have programmed 2 axis lathes for years, but understanding the steps involved for c and y axis programming is on a whole other level. I need to know what planes do I use for c axis and y axis milling and drilling. Any help getting me going would be great. I subscribed to eapprentice and all I see is 1 lathe course and it doesn't go all that deep into the more advanced lathe setting. Thanks for any help I can get.
  12. I'd like to see one compared to a cat40 just to see the size difference.
  13. I was always told to "Make it like the print". I would always say, I would if I knew what all this crap meant. They would really give me some nasty looks. Ah the good old days.
  14. If you do have the time can you cover some of the features of the Makino control and any other feature that you feel a worth mentioning? Like other have said, thank you for the video and thanks for taking time to do them.
  15. Not just resell value, also look at the parts coming off the machines in 10 years. I'm sure the Makino will still be churning out great parts with hardly any down time.
  16. Just look at the tool in the spindle, the housing on the Makino is huge compaired to the Haas. The Haas cannot make up for the mass and how stable the tool will be in the Makino while taking heavy cuts. I feel the Haas is so out gunned in this it isn't even fair, but I can't wait to see some more. There really is a reason why the Highend machines cost so much, because they are worth it.
  17. Thanks Bob, the Makino is definitely more but the gain's look worth every penny if you have the work for it.
  18. Wow that makes the Haas look like a dog! I know they have their place but the VM is one of their top models, and it looked like a toy next to the Makino. When productivity is the bottom line, price is secondary compaired to the overall process of getting the parts out the door and on time. If you don't mind what was the price difference of the two machines? If you can do a few more compairing the machines and give good and bad points about them I would love to see and hear what you come up with. Thank you for the video and anymore you may be doing!!
  19. I have a Quadro 2000 in my Dell T3500. I only run level 1 toolpaths, but I do use Dynamic toolpaths all the time and its fast!! I'm in business to make money and if I'm sitting around waiting on my computer, or restarting the comp from a crash I'm not making money. I can't remember the last time my computer locked up or crashed. You spend hundred's of thousands on machines, and tens of thousands on software but you cant spend 2000-3000 on a computer. I really don't see why you would go cheap on a computer, you are just leaving so much money on the table it's not even funny.
  20. It seems to have good mass for a Haas #18000 it should cut pretty smooth.
  21. What post are you using? If you use the MPMaster post you can lock the wcs on the first operation and it will out the g54 at a0. or what ever the angle your using. Then it should post out just the rotary moves a90., a180., a270.
  22. Yeah updating is a pain in the you know what. Everytime a new release comes out I'm like, Ok here we go again. I just manually update my toolbars and my RMB. Then go and update all my operation default's. It's a few hours in my life I will never get back, but it has to be done.
