  1. Can you buy Cimco V5 full version and use it on a computer that doesn't have a sim?
  2. where do you put the Lang.dll, I ran the X+ installer.
  3. I used to program some Siemens control's, we used MC V9 Lathe. I liked using Mastercam to program them, but the Siemens support funtions could do most all functions you would want to do on a lathe. It had some really nice drilling and threading cycles. Used g54 g55 and so on, easy to set up. The monitors would go out and it was very sensitive to temp changes (didn't like the heat). Siemens parts are very expensive, and sometimes it takes awhile to get what you need. If it was my coin I would go the Fanuc route. Well I did go the Fanuc route, my lathe has a Fanuc 18T, man that thing is so easy to get running.
  4. We're just having some fun, no reason to get all fired up.
  5. If the part has multi ops, I look at the part and start going through the machining steps in my head. If it has many ops 6-?? then I write them down. When I was just starting out my boss made me write down the steps then hand draw the part as it progressed through the machining operations. It was very helpful to do this because it made you see the part in your mind and if you ran into problems you could catch them as your work flow moved forward. The more you do this the better you get at it. Another way to look at it is how not to machine the part. If I machine this step am I going to be able to finish the part? Knowing what won't work is as important as knowing what will work.
  6. What really sux is only having mill level 1, I cant even run this just to benchmark my comp.
  7. Have a look at tapmatic, talk to tech support and see what they recommend. They also have some great info on their web page. www.tapmatic.com
  8. metric taps were the hardest for me to get right. Ive got a small tips booklet from Haas, it really has some handy info. It gives the treads/inch of all the metric taps and I put that info in the tool discription. Just give it an RPM and it spits out the right feedrate.
  9. Just signed up for the May 21 rollout at Cad/Cam Solutions. Is anyone going to that one, would be cool to put some faces to some names. Hope to see some EMastercam members there, and X4 thats for sure. I have heard some very good things so far.
  10. Mastercam Lathe cost alot less than a new lathe. You can do so much more with MCX lathe than the Haas conversational programming, and you have all the programs stored on the computer and very easy to revise the part or just look at the path.
  11. Trimming your toolpath would be the way to go.
  12. http://www.machinetools.com/mt/machines/in...601427872726540 Something like this would be real nice.
  13. The Mori Dura line might be in reach if you have the Haas and Kia optioned out pretty good. Mazak would be another in reach also. If you already have haas machines the VF3 would be a good choice. Your operators already know the control, you already have a post for the haas, just things to look at.
  14. Create a surface fill hole then offset those in to the id of the part. Use those sufaces for the toolpath and use the wirframe of the hole for containment, set stepover to what ever you feel best.
  15. Of course my maint. runs out in May. Oh well maint. on Level 1 is not much.
  16. Why have the smoothing option there if it doesn't work.
  17. When I import DWG files, the text for cutaway views are really large. The company logos and title blocks are big and it seems to go out to 4place decimal. I just use the solidworks eviewer and the same file comes in perfect.
  18. I would make sure I had the latest drivers off the Nvidia website.
  19. Ive had good luck with 316, keep it in the cut, use good coated carbide emills. If you don't use carbide drills, a good quality cobalt will do the trick. I would start at the low end of the SFM and work my way up.
  20. I feel like a idiot when I have to use V9, I can't get anything done. If I go somewhere to find a job and all they have is V9 I just turn around and walk out the door. If they can't pay the small price to stay current then how are they going to treat me come payday. I bought Mastercam and I pay maint. every year.
  21. I just pay my maint. and I get all kinds of emails.
  22. Yeah I thought they said in Oct. and its almost Thanksgiving. Well I can wait if it means more stablilty and bug fixes.
