  1. Dell 2 button w/wheel that also funtions as middle button. Came with the system. We have to get everything thru Dell here.
  2. I just uploaded a pdf file called PTC-export.pdf into Text_&_post_files_&_misc on cadcam's FTP site. Not sure if it will help anyone but it tells various config settings to use in pro-e for exporting in iges to different cad programs.I use iges wireframe and surface and have very few problems at all with iges. HTH
  3. I've been using iges for years from pro-e and never have any trouble. There are settings in Pro-e's config that you can tweak to help the translation too. I haven't even had to do that in the last 2 versions of pro. Step works well too and I've heard para-solid does also although I've never tried it.
  4. Is your controller set to Format 1 or Format 2. I believe Format 1 uses the E1=G54 principle and the Format 2 use G54 like a Fanuc. We ahve ours set to Format 1 and I've been using the E1,E2,E3 etc., etc., for years. You might want to check the Fadal operators manual and users manual for details.
  5. Brendan, I opened it up again after reading others suggestions and just set the comp to computer and left everything else the way you had it and it backplotted fine. Must be something to do with the comp. Weird still.
  6. Hey Brendan, I opened it with X2 MR1 and yes it does exactly as you say. When I look at your lead in, lead out, you have it set entry>tangent>875%......maybe something there needs to change. I changed it to prependicular>0 length and also told it to enter/exit at mid point on closed contours and it went all the way around. Without the enter/exit at mid point on closed contours it still does what it did before. Weird. HTH
  7. I don't have solids but use #10 for most surfaces and #9 for wireframe and then what every colors I might feel like depending on what I need to draw up. I often use different colors for things I have to project or pockets, contours and boundaries I might need to add.HTH
  8. Just a little monday morning bump
  9. Try sfm 400-600 with sharp carbide and a chip load of .006 for say a 1/4in cutter. Smaller cutter, smaller chip load. And yes it will chip. HTH edit: yeah and what the other guys say about melting and using coolant too.
  10. Camgen, congrats on owning your own bussiness. That can be a tough boat to row sometimes. Good luck, I'm sure it will work out well for you. I live in Coconut Creek myself. Lived in Coral Springs for awhile too. quote: One word... HURRICANES Yes, James you're correct. We do have the Miami Hurricanes
  11. Camgen, no problem and totally respect honesty and fact that you have no desire to work for big companies. Like I said, S.FL may not be ideal for everyone but there are opportunities down here and it may be better than someones current situation. Even though you may have meant to direct your statements to Rob and Hardmill, keep in mind all members can read this thread. I'd hate to see a good prospect pass it over and not even give it any consideration without making their own inquiry. quote: If you want a positive assessment, the tyco healthcare up in deland (fl) who I assume is same parent company, is know around town as one of the better places to be an employee. Tyco recently split into 3 different companies, technically the health care section isn't a part of the same, but rather a spin off. A year ago, yes, we were all under the same "parent" company. You can check some of the bussiness sites to find the details. If anybody does have questions about the job or area, feel free to ask, I'll answer honestly but would prefer to answer thru emails. Peace
  12. quote: but the pay scale will shock you, so bring money with you There's some truth to this in your AVERAGE shops, the payscale here is definitely on the higher end. Camgen....ease up on the negatives please, especailly since you haven't inquired about anything yourself. This is, after all, where I live now that your talking about. It might not be ideal (as are alot of places) but it is home and the negative comments might scare someone away unnecessarily before they have a chance to inquire. Peace.
  13. quote: Somewhere between St. Augustine & Cocoa Beach would be just fine by me hmmm......would that be ....say .....Daytona? Yeah, we're a little further south than that, but it would make for a nice bike ride on the weekends Btw, Rob, sent an email to your comcast addy
  14. Hey Rob, I believe you'd be more than qualified. Don't let the title scare ya.

  16. Welcome Back Chris! Hope the healing goes well. quote: Rock on +1000
  17. I wouldn't go back. I still have V9 on my pc though but have only used that to open older files since I started using X. I can understand why some people haven't made the jump for various reasons but once you get your head around it, it's pretty sweet. I wish I would have had some of these tools 10 yrs ago when I worked in a mold shop programming trodes and such. It would have made life a bit more productive and less stressful.
  18. Hey Rick, alot of times you don't necessarily have to remove the line, just rem it by putting a pound sign in front like 3rdString has: #scomm_str, "PROGRAM NAME - ", sprogname, etc.etc. That tells it not to read that line. If you look at the comment at the beginning of a post you'll see all the lines start with a pound sign.HTH Al
  19. Good to see ya could make it home!
  20. Hope you have a quick recovery Chris. Get well soon.
  21. I've used both and prefer MasterCam. I use Pro-e alot but all my programming is done with MC. I could still use Pro if I wanted 'cause we still have the license available, I just prefer the ease of use (yes, even with X2) and toolpath control that I get with MasterCam. Just my .02 Good luck.
  22. Hey Metz, How's things down south? Shoot me am email if you want. Al
  23. If you have Photoshop or Illustrator you might be able to bring it in and save it as an *.ai file and then into MC. Haven't tried it but think it can be done.....maybe.
  24. Do you have a spam filter on your email account? Sometimes they (filters) block things unless you tell them not to. Just a thought.
  25. We use a water solulable synthetic coolant called Eco-Cool. That or a cold air gun.hth
