  1. It depends on what format you run your control in.There are 2 posts available with the install. Generic Fadal Format_1 4X Mill.pst Generic Fadal Format_2 4X Mill.pst It just depends which format you choose to run the machine in. We run in Format1 and the generic post worked well with just a little tweaking. Best bet would be to contact your reseller to get the tweaks you want.
  2. The chipload is usually more related to the material you are cutting. I remember seeing some info on the Garr Tool web site. Try this link http://www.garrtool.com/pdf/MillingGuide_Fractional.pdf
  3. Machinery Handbook is a good place to start. Look up the material and suggested LPT there. You could probably also consult your tool supplier to see what they recommend.
  4. We use OBO Modulan from McCausey Lumber www.mccauseylumber.com It cuts a little better then ren with a little less dust (depends on the density). 1-800-365-9663 is their number.
  5. Did you check to see if maybe there was some "overlapping" geometry or something underneath. That happens to me sometimes when I project geometry. Just a thought.
  6. I've been using X exclusively since after SP1 came out. Haven't had any more problems ....yet...still.....but waiting for MR1 to be sure.....sort of.....maybe.

  8. The help file. Do a search for hotkeys.Or shortcut keys in the index.
  9. from Websters Unabridged: "Pro*fes"sion*al*ism (?), n. The following of a profession, sport, etc., as an occupation; -- opposed to amateurism" thought you might need some help with the english language.
  10. I'm not sure about some of the other machines, but the Fadal has a code that "ramps"down feeds at the end of every linear move as to reduce over run. Check your Fadal manual for details. I think it's something like a G98 maybe but not sure on that.
  11. A machine I had awhile back had the FX500 and I couldn't run V9 with the graphics acceleration on. I'm not sure if it was the graphics card or something else on the system (Pro-e ran great with acceleration and our IT didn't seem to think it was anything other than the card and didn't want to spend much time investigating ). The box I have now has a FX1400 and I'm running V9,X and Pro with full acceleration. Other people don't seem to have problems with it though (the FX500) but thought I'd throw this out there for you.
  12. As the guys in the Guiness commercial say... "BRILLIANT!!" Thanks!
  13. quote: You'll prolly have to window your entities I've discovered that using crtl+a in the graphics window is a good way to select all entities.
  14. quote: I'd love to talk with you but ...I kinda live a little far .... otherwise Same thing here. I think it would be cool to train/help others, it's one of the reasons I joined the forum
  15. Start Menu>Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types>New>type igs and associate it X

    Fadal DNC

What format are you running Format1 or Format2? Format1 needs % as first line of code. Also try typing TA,1 at the command line on the control before you start the dnc from pc.
  17. Thanks! Guess I should have checked the "Tools" link out earlier.
  18. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing..... Did it exist in V9? I never knew there was a c-hook available or anything. Could come in handy. Sorry Stork....I think it's you, me and the crickets
  19. I went ahead and did the work around posted by Joel, it's seems to work best. I'm able to print in color, color-shaded with no background, b/w, all lines and dims show up! Thanks Joel.
  20. I'm expriencing some of the same stuff here too but my work around was to set my printer properties to print in b/w. I realize this might not work for printing shaded but atleast I got all my lines/dims to print. I'm gonna try the above work around to see about the shaded issue in color.
  21. Alex, I gather that from your message that you weren't running V9 and that you went right into X. The V9 install cd's had many post that were good starting points. There were both format1 and format2 posts for Fadal so it would depend on which format you have your machine set up for. We have a 40-20 with the 88hs and use the format1 post. I didn't have to tweak it much and it updated to X just fine. Al
  22. quote: It seems to me people like TKDBB ,RandleXX and DragonZ only come here to try an illicit a reply such as he got. Maybe they are all related. Or go to the same group therapy sessions. I believe in other forums they call these guys "trolls" 'cause they just post so they can stir up s**t. If you ignore their posts they usually settle down and/or go away. The more fuel you add to the fire the more it burns.
  23. quote: Looks like Crazy Millman likes to tinker more in the code. I would just goof it all up. I think that might be a throw back to his autocad days where that was about the only way to customize menus. I haven't used autocad since R14 so I don't know how it is now. Good to know you can do it with code but I'll take the easier (and safer......yep call me chicken) way out BTW great info Ron and thanks for the tip to both you and Jim
