We like to use 145° spots in our shop. Seem to give us the best result as far as size and location goes.
And yes 17-4 is a little nasty, if you need any help with cutting it let me know, 98% of what we do is 17-4.
I would also suggest a look at Linky and ask Martin Roderick. He used to be an applications specialist for Mazak and has moved on to his own company. He is very helpful.

Got it, it was in the settings Start / Exit. Have multiple user on this PC so I had to instruct the software to load my setting instead of the default.
Thanks for the help
I keep un-checking the same boxes in the display options
Every time I restart MCAM I have to do it again, is there something I am missing????
Thanks in advance
Chris
Well, here at our back asswards place it was decided (before my time) that G53 would represent the CL of all 4th and 5th axis. There fore the operator could use G54, G55, ... to fine tune and be able to see exactly what the last clown did. With that said trying to use G53 here would be darn near impossible. G91 G28 Z0, the safest wat for us, posts at begining and end of tool, just incase i was only .100" above my part and forgot to home that stupid machine and it forgot were it was. JM2C
James,
We have 2 machines one with and one with out. I have not pinch turned but am told that it can be done, as the post (from In-House) supports it. We use our lower turret as a parts catcher, and hide it under the sub most of the time.
Casey,
Not sure if this is what you are trying to do, but
To create relative views, first click on the parent view in the View Manager. Then, click the Relative button to display this dialog box. Select the planes in which you want to create new views, and type in a name for them.
hope that helps.
Hey folks, looking for some "play" parts for our apprenticeship program. Would like to give them something useful and fun to make. Lathe, wire, mill one of each or something that combines all would work. I am searching the FTP site right now, but I figured one or two of the members may have something on stand by.
Thanks in advance
I use NX and MCAM on a regular basis.
MCAM user interface is awesome on the CAM side
NX try turning cutter comp on sometime, after you have clicked thru 2 menus and a drop down, don't forget to turn the check box on.... you may have it.....
MCAM ---- 1 nice drop down
IMHO I would not run any new MS product until it has benn out for atleast 18 months
GO BEARS!!!!
No don't grey out the spacing box ..... When engraving small text on surfaces the spacing needs to be adjusted to make the text more legible.
Happy New Year
I'd try his suggestion, but ask him if he is going to buy the busted inserts. I would also ask him if he wants you to G82 or G83, I know I actually had a drill rep that wanted us to chip break.
