  1. The wise owl says don't buy it.
  2. Go to mmsonline.com they have a whole bunch of to read up on for high speed machining. They have emphasis zones geared for diffeent applications. O ne of them happens to be high speed machining. I've found it to be a good infomational website, they cover all kind of applications.
  3. I think Rekd has helped someone out with this before. Do a search and see what comes up.
  4. It sounds as if they are looking for an exuse to reprimand or terminate this particular employee. Why have an exuse? I think the CEO should just do what needs to be done. Address the issue he has with the employee privately and move on.
  5. To be fair the bosses activity should be tracked along with it.
  6. Sound like simple addition and subtraction to me. I had never heard of a chart either. I've just used common sense and a calculator or pencil and paper so its written down and can I can pick the proper blocks from the set.
  7. Put the file on the ftp so we can see how it sits in the vise.
  8. We have a "simple plan" here. Max per year in a simple plan is $9000.00 this year, which I will contribute all of it. Everyone here calls it a 401k but its not. It really is a simple IRA. 401k's have higher costs associated and applied to the business than sep ira's or simple ira's. Check out "The Motley Fool.com" Some really good information is available there. With most of the plans I've been associated with the companies will have a SEP IRA plan and call it a 401k. With these plans the cost is mostly absorbed by us the contibutor only it is not very easy to find what the cost actually is. It gets hidden in management fees from the plan provider.
  9. Are we talking 1000 ft. or 100ft? I'm sure it depends on strength of the signal. Just looking for a ball park figure. We will have 4 lasers and 2 VMC's so there probably shouldn't be much interferance.
  10. I wasn't really talking about the signal loss of the laser beam more about the wireless communication system
  11. About how far of a distance before signal loss occurs? Just curious. We are taking shipment of a a new laser next Monday. When we were in the showroom it was set up wireless.
  12. Hey Allied I'm from your neck of the woods.
  13. Thanks for the input. I was just going through this and wannted to know if it was happening to others besides me. We ended up asking for a step which worked great. I guess I should have asked for a step in the first place, but I've always had trouble with the igs files from ideas. I did try using the masking function in the igs converter but didn't have any luck.
  14. Sometimes we only recieve a 3d model in which case we will create a print from the 3d model. As far as tolerancing we use our "house tolerance" (.5mm). Unless of course a specific feature has been discussed in which case we will accomadate the customer. We make prototype stampings, thats why sometimes there is no print. Sometimes the customer just wants to know if the part formability feasable or they might do testing for strength or NVH (noise, vibration, harshness).
  15. We seem to have a problem sometimes when people send us an igs file that has been exported from I-deas. Other times we don't have a problem. The problem is the surfaces come in untrimmed. Has anyone come across this before? I think it might be lack of understanding the exportation of igs from ideas. Any comments would be appreciated.
  16. I think cad should be do all and end all. We have issues once in a while when a cad model is not the same as the print. Usually we will call the customer and make them sign off which ever way they would like it made. However this is only when we "by chance" see a discrepancy. I believe what the job is quoted (print or cad) is when issues like this should be resolved. Sometimes things move in such a short timeframe we may have parts done and the customer has issued a new rev level but it didn't move through our system fast enough At one point we were doing confirmations with each order. It would state what cad file, rev level, material etc. and the buywould have sign it and fax it back. I'm not sure why we stopped doing it.
  17. I've never used Robb Jack, but there supposed to be pretty good.
  18. Sometimes different video cards can be a problem. Check your memory allocations in screen/configure/
  19. 40 millionths= 1 micron .00004 in inches
  20. Jackson Mi. is the birthplace of the Republican party.
  21. Hey Mayday I'm not a biker but I was thinkn, and I bet if bike night was at a Hooters there would be a good turnout even on poor weather nights.
