Back in high school we had an old German welding/ drafting teacher, much like G-Code describes (drill Sargent/ taskmaster). He would make students cry. I still remember everything he taught us (well I think I remember!!!).
Yes drafting with a T-Square and Vellum paper!
I had an employee retire after nearly 40 years, he didn't use computers.... he would make "quick sketches" (his description) that were nothing short of works of art. Everything neatly scaled, shaded and sectioned and dimensioned immaculately.
Could you modify a duplicate solid (remove the upper portion that is overhanging the undercut area (make the model shorter by that amount)). Then surface it with a lollipop mill?
Axis Substitution requires a different method when trying to transform rotate. You need to use "Translate" not rotate and "Coordinate" not tool plane. Then on the next page use "Delta" for Method.
Rotary Ø * pi / # of pattern instances
Our C-Axis lathe has a Siemens 840D controller on it with shop turn software. The Shop Turn software is really powerful and easy to use. We have MC lathe license but the Shop Turn software for R&D one offs is really convenient as you can "copy", "cut", "paste" from existing programs.
I still have my purple HASP...it is likely on life support but it works well (easily) for moving my license between my desktop and my laptop. I know if it craps out I am getting a license file...
Make sure the coolant is blasting the on the tool or use through spindle coolant if you have it. Peck drilling cycle with the pecks set to 1/2 the diameter of the drill.
HLE or Home Learning Edition has these restrictions (can not post, can not export etc)
Educational versions (paid license) have full access to posting, exporting etc. Your license has to include the products that you are working with (Lathe, Mill, Multi-Axis etc).
Usually most systems have an on-board card for regular graphics and a high performance GPU for CAD/CAM work. So it is switchable graphics.
If you only have the High performance GPU than it shouldn't be an issue.
