  1. I'm trying to rough a slot in a Ø50 Ti ring The slot is 4.25wide 2.25" deep and has a sweep of 170° I want to use dynamic roughing with a Ø1" carbide endmill I've got a very nice toolpath going but... It rapids to about C 160, helixes to depth , roughs all the way back to C0 rapids out and back to C160 then finishes the slot to C170 Is there any way to control where to toolpath starts cutting and in which direction it goes?. This is a production part and I need it to be as efficient as possible. Ideally it would start at c10 machine to C0, then rapid back to C10 and finish to C170
  2. Do you have any values set in Reference Points
  3. Lie .... make your drive geometry longer than the actual part so the plunge move is safe.
  4. There are 2 machine sim's available for Mastercam. One version, supplied by Mastercam, is free and runs on NCI. The seconds is the Postability Machine Sim. It is linked to your Postability post but it does not run the actual gcode. However, it does accurately reflect what will happen on the machine. It's greatest advantage is it launches straight out of Mastercam. It is excellent for checking tool clearance, toolpath motion, collisions and the stability and smoothness of 4 and 5X toolpaths. I use it extensively to program our Okuma MU1000H, a JOBS C/A 5X gantry mill and a Cincinatti A/B gantry mill. It is especially useful for checking windup limits on the JOBS as the C axis is limited to ±200° and it is as simple as launching a Verify session. It is not a replacement for Vericut. Vericut stands in a league of it's own, but it also costs 7 to 10 times the price of Postability Machine Sim. I use Postability Machine Sim as a programming aide and Vericut as the final check before releasing a program to the floor.
  5. Aside from this graphics issue, how is that Threadripper treating you. I've read that Threadrippers and Mastercam can have issues, though I don't remember where I read that.
  6. Check this setting Start/Mastercam 2024/Advanced Configuration you'll need Admin rights to make changes
  7. a dumb question If my seed toolpath gas wear CDC enabled, will Convert to 5X output the G41 D and G40 callouts Even if it did, I don't think it would work if .1" long linear leadin/out moves were converted to .001 point to point motion
  8. I wish Moduleworks could output arcs when it was appropriate. Moduleworks outputs some really sweet toolpath motion but most of the time, the file sizes are too big to run on the old dinosaurs we've got around here. Cimco used to offer a filtering app, but last time I looked, it hadn't been updated in years... and now it's not on the Product list. I often wondered how well it worked, but never had the opportunity to try it I did find an old brochure
  9. Will this convert the whole toolpath to point to point even if the seed file contains arcs??
  10. AutoDesk is becoming The Borg from Star Trek You will be assimilated!
  11. Do you have to install it to install Camplete?
  12. Edit the arc page in Control Def Change it to Break into 180 degree arcs
  13. We've had some heavy rain recently and a giant sinkhole across the street ate a large power transformer. The power company has been working to repair it for a month, They were supposed to shut power down on the whole block last Saturday night for the final hookup, but got called out to an emergency and didn't get it done. This morning, they informed us that power would be shut down tonight at 1AM and would be off for 9 hours minimum. Obviously, the shop can't run tonight or tomorrow, but 1 phone call to CCC and they delivered 3 temporary Mastercam software licenses an hour later. My guys can work from home tomorrow, get a one day jump on the shop and not miss any time . Great service !!!
  14. Mastercam can do it much better than that, but if you won't provide a sample file, we cannot help you.
  15. You could also use STL compare in Verify for this
  16. with only 3 posts made to date you may still be on probation New members have restricted rights until they've made a certain number of posts. I believe the magic number is 3.. you may find you can edit posts when you make post #4
  17. What's that got to do with anything?
  18. or a guy playing with a basket full of crack software, cherry picking the best features from each brand
  19. If you're a pirate, you just download the next release from Cracks-R-US and reap the benefits of the hard work and $$$ legal users have invested in improving the software. That's just one more reason why pirates are scumbags.
  20. The sample he posted from Tebis was not roughing It was a finish toolpath, just like the sample I did in MC Admittedly, I did not do the floor and the wall with one toolpath, but we don't know if he did either. The trouble with Mastercam Optirough is it uses the tallest stock value to determine where is goes to retract. There have been occasions where I've used the new STL tools to chop my stock model down to keep the retracts low.
  21. You will need to download a utility that validates that a Mastercam license is attached to your computer. It will then give you a code that allows you to register. Once you've registered you can access the forum from any computer, but you have to revalidate your license once a year. If you want to talk to the people that develop Mastercam, this is the place to be. Create an account
  22. straight machine sim? yes all the time Postability Machinesim is much better, One thing Vericut does than Machine Sim can't is Autodiff
  23. Your license cannot leak out. It is not included in the file. The license number of the hasp that created the file is included in the file. Only a dealer's hasp can see that number. This is a forum for legal users. If you read the Terms of Agreement when you signed up, you'll see the administrators of this forum can request your license number and ban you if you fail to provide it. That is rare as we normally operate on the honor system. As for the ethical issues, using stolen software makes the user a liar and a thief. Many of the users here are private contractors who compete on the open market for work. A thief with a stolen seat of Mastercam can work cheaper than a person with a legal seat. Personally, I purchased Mastercam with my own money in 1998 and have kept it current ever since... and I have lost a lot of work to contractors and companies running stolen software. It took a lot of money and sacrifice over the years to keep my seat current and I have no use for liars and thieves using stolen software.
  24. I use Machine Sim from Postability on our Okuma 5X HMC's It is linked to the post but I don't believe it runs on actual gcode. It is very useful for instantly checking the stability and smoothness of 5X toolpaths. Of course the final program goes through Vericut before it hits the machine.
