  1. Open to suggestions on Video cards.
  2. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions about this system. ( Video card for one ) ASUS PC-DL Deluxe Dual Cpu Mobo 500W power supply with 5 cooling fans/blowers Dual XEON 3GHz 533FSB Processors 4 Gb DDR PC2700 ( 4 x 1 Gb 333MHz ) RAM 36Gb SCSI Ultra 320 HD 15,000 Rpm Adaptec 29320A-R SCSI Controller Win 2K Pro Note: All toolpaths are done on the shop floor and it's very rare to have more than one session of MC running at the same time, so i'm wondering if the dual processors are worth the extra money. Thanks in advance for any replies
  3. Ken, I use Imaging for Windows to open up tiff files. Check the image properties for size, then select your plotter to print to and select sheet size to suit. HTH
  4. James, I have read all the info on dual processors on the forum, I just wanted to know if MC was going to support it. Thanks anyway
  5. Will version X support dual processors? My operators are due for a hardware upgrade soon, and i would like to know if i should pay the extra $ If this is a hush-hush thing, could someone from CNC Software reply by E-mail. Would be much appreciated. Thanks
  6. Quote : "Harryman, it's just that I couldn't recall the demonination, which I simply referred to as former clergy." DEMONination ? careful Jack, your horns are showing LOL
  7. Paul, buy the 1/32 cutter and grind .089" off the tip. now you have a 3/64 dia.
  8. Modify, X to nurbs, all arcs. This will change the arcs to splines
  9. Jeff, I put a file up called jeffhelix-surf. I assume you just wanted to create a surface on this. I noticed that your splines were pretty dense, they had about 3500 control points on each one. this would take some time to create a surface on. What i usually do is try the remnodes chook first, change tol to .001. In this case only one spline was reduced. next i created points along the splines (45 on each spline) and recreated the splines. You can now create a coons surface with the geometry. I also created lines joining the 45 points on each spline, and created a loft surface. there was a slight difference between the two. the surface on the part is the lofted one. create a coons and pick the surface you want.
  10. Phil, highlite the entire page and change color to black Steve
  11. Paul, I use a program called Fastblank for this. Its very easy to use but takes a little more than " just push a button ". You have to create a mesh on the surfaces, offset the mesh by half the material thickness, pick the material type, then "push the button". I use it mainly for quoting on jobs. If you can put your part up on the ftp, i'll run it through the program for you if you like. If you can't put it on the ftp, feel free to email it to me.
  12. Jim, bbox is now in "create, next menu, bound.box" "squash" is now under Xform. It's not too often that features are dropped, but they do change where to find them HTH
  13. coxy, bend radius calc is not required for this. The way you have it drawn is fine. Usually the only time you need bend radius calc is for blank development. At last ! 100 posts
  14. Iskander, I just tried processing a toolpath with settings at normal, high priority, and real time and time was identical for all 3 settings. Running win2KPro, P4 2.2 1 gig ram. Any idea why there is no change ? ( running a finish scallop toolpath, tolerance .0001, .001 step over )
  15. Motty "hi hi hi my little droobies" if it's "droogies" then it was Malcolm McDowell as Alex in "A Clockwork Orange"
  16. Roger, use the "levels" C-Hook. It won't change colors, but will move entities to different levels based on the z height
  17. Thad, I had the same problem as you. (running W2K Pro) The only entities i could read in were line, circle, polyline, spline, arc and face entities. Use the masking features. I also read in the MText entities, but for some reason could not save them. I kept getting " directory not found" message. If all you need is the wireframe, then use the masking feature, otherwise try getting the file as iges. hope this helps
  18. Take a look at offset curve_1 on ftp.
  19. Thad, check out my reply to gcodes thread "surface finish in surface toolpaths". The excell file i put on the ftp site might help you out.
  20. Corey, just about every restaurant in this area offer perch and pickerel, north side of erie from detroit to simcoe. My neighbor is a commercial fisherman and these 2 species account for about 90 percent of his catch. He has a fish fry every year for the neighbors, brings home about 600 fish, rolls em in flour and deep fries em. gooood eatin!
  21. I just uploaded an excell file called "surface finish calculator" to the "unspecified_uploads" directory on the ftp site. All you have to enter is the radius of the tool in column B next to the surface finish you need in column A. A2 =250 finish A3 =125 finish A4 =63 finish etc. Note! this is only valid on a flat surface for milling or for turning on a lathe (result should be feed per rev) Hope this is of some use to somebody Steve teh i love playing with numbers (At this rate i figure i'll get my avatar in 3 years 9 months and 12 days. gotta start posting more often ) [ 06-12-2003, 09:20 AM: Message edited by: camguy ]
  22. "Recent problems with security on the FTP force password change. Follow this link FTP" Allan, when i clicked on the above link i got into the site o.k. but when i add this to my favorites bar and try to get on, it asks me for a user name and password. any ideas? Thanks Steve
  23. Paul, there are several ways to do this. The method suggested by Travis will give you straight edges along the length. If you need a more spiral effect, create 7 lines 25 mm apart in y direction, change to front construction plane, rotate line 2 7.5 deg, line 3 15 deg, line 4 22.5 deg. line 5 30 deg line 6 37.5 deg, and line 7 45 deg. now create a lofted surface using the 7 lines.this will give you more of a spiral effect. HTH.
