  1. We need a lot more information to be able to help. Please describe exactly what you are wanting to do.
  2. There are a number of tools that might work, axis sub, curve 5ax, or a multiaxis toolpath. Can you share the file?
  3. If you are using X8 you can check the angle between two solid edges using Analyze > Angle
  4. Is there a reason that you are saving out as an STL. Stock model was created to avoid having to do this anymore. There was an update released yesterday, not saying it will solve the issues just FYI.
  5. The backplot with give an estimated run time, however typically it will be 10 - 20% faster than actual run time. The weight of a piece is dependent on it's volume and density. You can calculate this using Analyze > Volume / Area > Solid properties and input your materials mass.
  6. If you are just getting started with Dynamic I would recommend using X8, it includes several new features that make the toolpaths easier and it would be better to learn the new methods first rather than having to relearn a few things later down the road.
  7. The cutting portion of the toolpath is controlled by the "Stepover" parameter. The toolpath that you have there looks good. It is common to see the radius moves appear larger than the linear. The toolpath maintains a consistent tool engangment not necessarily an exact step over amount.
  8. So here is what I see in this file. If I edit the WCS settings within the toolpath parameters there are no issues and the WCS settings are set correctly, I mean WCS is set as "TOP-1" and Toolpane and Cplane match. However if I right click on the same toolpath and use the Edit common parameters to make the change everything goes haywire just like you said. Also for some reason the WCS settings look different, the Tplane is set as expected but for some reason the Cplane is set the same as the WCS. This file wouldn't happen to have been from a previous version would it?
  9. Look at JParis screen shot above, in your Operation Manager, the machine definition has a properties button, go to the Files section. You will find the dialog you need, the just choose the " ! " button for the "Operation defaults" setting.
  10. Well not more I can say here. Without a file I can't say why it might be happening but it is definitely not happening for me.
  11. Following your steps and nothing happens to me, only the toolpath that I had selected is marked dirty. You might try making sure you are on the latest update release. Are you using any stock models? Rest milling? Transform? toolpaths. Depending on how your operations are organized this may explain the issue.
  12. This is expected. Sorry I can't help. I am not experiencing the issue that you describe. Sharing a file or being more specific about your processes would help though.
  13. Can be more specific about exactly how your program is setup, what type of machines, toolpaths ,etc. Or even upload the MC file itself. A picture is worth a thousand words.
  14. I would not consider having to regenerate my toolpath after changing its planes a "problem". If I change any feature of the toolpath be it geometry or a parameter, the toolpath has to regenerate the NCI file based on the new input that you have given it.
  15. It can be set in the operation defaults, but it doesn't look like the disk icon at the top of the dialog is working for this option. Instead go to the machine defintion properties page and edit the defaults file from the " ! " button. This will allow you to edit all the options for all the available toolpaths.
  16. Good job CNC, please keep it up. MCfSWX is maturing rapidly and recognizing the little nit picky things is important.
  17. I really recommend that you keep all personal settings on the local computer. This would be everything in the "my mcamx8" directory. I know that if you are using multiple computers this might be a pain but it will avoid issues like this. Now this is not to say you can't move your machine files and tool libraries to the network, Mastercam has made much progress in this regard and I am more than comfortable doing so.
  18. Yes but it doesn't necessarily give that last pass at 90deg in the corner.
  19. Tyguidry if you are current I would highly recommend upgrading to X8. It will look much better on your retina screen than X6. Much more functional too. If your not current give your reseller a call and they'll get you fixed up.
  20. That is where it is in X8 in X6 go to Settings > Configuration > Screen > Large Buttons. Is there a way that you can make the dialogs bigger on your macbook? I know windows has a setting that allows you to make all the objects bigger on the screen.
  21. Yes it can be done, I probably wouldn't though. radius multiaxis.zip
  22. The thought is that if you modify a speed and feed in the toolpath dialog box and later update that tools' speed and feed that you would not want to have your toolpath's parameters changed as well. Otherwise you might have to go back through your whole program and redo the speeds and feeds for those toolpaths. Of course this does not work for everyone hence the available checkbox.
  23. It would be much easier and probably a better and more stable cut to use a 3 axis toolpath such as the ones already recommended. I think everyone is wondering - Why would you want to rotate and cut the radius the way you are describing?
  24. Yeah that would be great but....How is Mastercam supposed to know your plane is wrong? Maybe the plane is right and the geometry is wrong?
