Maybe a dumb question, but I'm not seeing where I can "export as txt" option in the stand-alone manger or the tool manager inside MC 2021.
I would like to be able to modify my tool lib with a txt editor.
Create planes at respected degrees you want using dynamic planes rotating about center. When you create a toolpath select that T and C plane when you select your cutting geometry, same WCS. That should give you an "A" move
Man, 2021 has been the buggiest release I can remember in years. I'm not gonna nag and complain, as I know software has shortfalls sometimes.
I just want CNC to put fourth effort in correcting some of the problems before more bells and whistles are implemented.
I do like some of the new paths and geometry alteration methods, so not all is bad.
Thanks Ron, I'll look into that to that tomorrow. I would like to have a .300" broach made, time may not allow. If I used a .156" it would be like cutting two keys next to each other?
My IT has my POS computer the rest of the day. I won't get to experiment until tomorrow...
It is just a simple key slot 1.1" deep and .300" wide by .125 deep. Through hole
I know this has been discussed before, but is the point toolpath my go-to for this operation?
I'm using 2021, haven't installed the update 1 yet. Luckily I do have spindle orientation on this Haas.
Just need to step in Y about .002 per pass, feed down, retract in Y-, then Rapid up in Z and repeat. There's not a standard width broach for this application, so I'd like to be able to step over in X at Each depth cut.
Any pointers?
You'll be $$$ ahead if you outsource to get them ground by some means to thickness.
They're gonna warp like a SOB peeling .053" off the face with a mill
Hey Ron,
I worked with some guys at CNC with weird issues I was having between 2020 and 2021 tool databases. Something isn't working correctly with migration. I'd suggest calling them if you're still stuck.
Thanks for you help John,
CNC was able to convert the file over to 2021 and send it back to me. They didn't have an answer as to why my migration wasn't effective...
Was on the phone w/ CNC for about 30 min going over everything. He had near the exact same vid card as I have. We went over every setting and verified all of them.
Still Doesn't work - New file, old file, doesn't change, just an unexpected error has occurred.
I tried that. I'm able to see, open, and use the "migrated" tooldb in the 2021 folder that came from 2020. When I create a tool within MC 2021 and click "save to library" it states its unable to as this is from a previous version of MC.
When I attempt to open this folder in stand-alone tool manager, I get the same message : run migration wizard
G, I did just edit a tool in the folder, then clicked finish. I can edit them, just cant create new ones or open in tool manager
Okay, I see why its not updating the tooldb. for that particular tool list. I get an error on the migration list of converted files after completion.
It states: DATABASE ERROR MIGRATING, FILE NOT UPDATED. This is the Only file I really Need updated as all my custom tools are in there.
