  1. maybe the FOR SALE section of the Practical Machinist Forum?
  2. Thanks so Much!! I will use that as needed, but I found my problem..... If you specify the tool as custom and not a lollipop it gives the tool a Zero radius, hence it thinks it is cutting.
  3. Hey guys, Using MC2019. I've drawn the custom tool geometry for this 3/8 lollipop mill on a level in the correct orientation. Using the Surf Finish Flowline toolpath with all the gouge checks turned off, and have tried almost every option I know. I cannot get the tool to follow the surface... Its leaving the amount shown in the attached picture. Negative stock to leave gets into the surface. Help Please
  4. Same problem with the neighbors computer as well. I'll just have to get another disk when I can looks like.
  5. IT is going to try installing on another Box that's on the network here in just a bit. This would at least single out my computer.
  6. Power trip maybe. But it's the Government.... This install worked perfectly on a near identical box in another building I work in. Here, the Install just locks up before it get about 80% through.
  7. Hey Guys, and Gals I have finally made time to install 2019 at the two separate stations I work at. We have to use a reseller supplied DVD for our installs (Admin will NOT let us D/L releases from Mastercam's share site). Along with the help/admin rights of our IT guy we successfully installed and updated at station #1 with our NetHasp. On to station #2 the Install just hangs up towards the end of the progress. Ok, so I have our guy call up our dealer for help (our maintenance expires Tomorrow!) They check about everything even look at all the log files during the attempted install. Computer is a Dell w/ Windows 10enterprise 16G ram, Xeon, Nvidia video cards. This same machine is running MasterCam 2017 just fine. Our reseller sent this up the ladder to CNC. You guys have any ideas?
  8. I was just looking into this yesterday. Our admin has this Blocked. We have to get our dealer to send us DVD's for updates Why does a company as big as CNCSoftware use a file sharing host to D/L new releases, or updates??
  9. Has anyone used any of the Solid Ceramic Endmills? I don't need them atm, but I was just curious
  10. I too think I could get around faster in the X9 era. Only thing is that the software is getting better and faster at actually machining things... It's a give and take kinda situation. I haven't touched it since MC 2017, but I hear good things from people ( G ) about MC2019
  11. Model a small Radius and use a FlowLine toolpath with a Lolli-Pop mill, make sure gouge checking is off.
  12. Is that the No HAZ aluminum? I've worked a lot with that stuff. It really machines beautifully I thought, along with being bend-able.
  13. Thanks JP I would have thought you guys already had numerous 5AX machines.... Yeah I kinda figured a purchased post would be one of the main priorities. I need to present a ballpark price this is gonna cost them, cause the last thing I want is "we already spent 200k and we can't do this and this & that"??? I know how much MC multi-ax is roughly, but is a decent post 3k, 5k, 10k? I do know that Vericut is super $$$$ like 25k? I'm just not sure how this is very feasible for one 5axis machine in a prototype shop? Is it sad that I'd just rather have a decent vertical with a rotary
  14. So the company I've been working for, just a few months now has decided their first machine tool is going to be a Mazak VCU 500 lol. I did try and explain they may not see the outside expenses that comes along with multiaxis. MasterCam+Post+Verification costs some serious dough. My recommendation was to start off maybe with a 3 axis machine then move up. I've been programming for about 8 years (MC the whole time) and I'm pretty confident with most everything minus 5Ax (never had the chance to learn). Have done a decent amount of simultaneous 4th. I'm going to be "the guy" so I need to not look like a goob when and If this Mazak hits the floor. Just how much more difficult is positional 5 over say positional 4th axis? Does MC have a decent post for this machine, or is it a call to Postability or such? I say 5 Ax positional, just because 95% of parts we would make doesn't require simultaneous. Bad part is I currently don't have MC or even access to it, and won't untill at least 6 more months.... Thanks guys
  15. Rough out with Dynamic Finish the flat pocket floor with "pocket" Finish the walls with contour. I use surface finish contour to walk down the .07" floor/wall radius. Can't see your part, but I imagine this is a correct assumption.
  16. Not a lot of folks on here are still using X8. You could probably get some sound advise from some really good programmers, just not an example file you can open....
  17. Dan, don't expect great results helixing into harder steels. It'll cut a few but it really hurts the bottom of the tool. If there's a way to plunge outside, or drill a start hole Do It. If I ever have trouble trying to chain a start point for entry I find another route. Just do your op with a helical entry, next do a drill op and put it before your milling op where it helicals in.
  18. I just pace a point at the theoretical point where the material would be without a chamfer. Might take 30 seconds...
  19. You have to play with your cut depths to get it to cut where You want. Copy down the tool paths and change your cut depths. It is a roughing pass, one toolpath doesn't always get all the material you want...
  20. Well damn that's the exact question I asked in another topic. I obviously couldn't post it on the Mastercam site.
  21. I'm gonna give them a call today, being on a military installation we get forgotten about me thinks? Newb, don't tell me you got a hat?? I'd just like a sticker
  22. Hey guys, How am I supposed to go about updating to 2018 without linking my computer? We use a Nethasp and the admin won't allow us to run the code generator without jumping through a bunch of hoops. I would just download the updates at home, but I don't have a MC account to link to from home. Thanks
