  1. I used to work for a press tool manufacturer, and i has set up a template file, where, levels, planes, machines, were all set up, but what we also had. was a "c-hook" which when run, would move all holes, pockets and geometry, to set different levels, making setup and programming very quick, i wonder if this c-hook is still available ?
  2. prime is a Chook, once loaded the tool library loads with this
  3. Have fun with the tool, it makes a hissing noise while cutting
  4. No reason why not, but obviously you would not get 1mm/rev of feed rate.Sandviks selling point(to me), was they could not get the insert to wear, i reckon, i could have run the insert at the speeds/feeds for around 60 minutes
  5. O8om40 steel, EN8, and this was 3mm per side, i have a 100KW spindle, and the tool ran about 30% of power,
  6. Jeff, i trialled this tool for Sandvik, we ended up at 3mm depth of cut, 0.3mm plunge into the radii, 1mm per rev, and 285 mtrs/min, the tool ran for around 38 mins, with no discernable wear
  7. You need to use the plunge feedrate, it should be set around .3mm/rev, on the radii into the part, then upto your set feedrate for the roughing
  8. Shrinivas, try this, I created a standard grooving tool, turned the tool to -40 degrees, set up back offset. T1.mcam
  9. Try creating the face groove tooling as a custom tool, bit more work, but this is how I have set them up
  10. I had no problem with this, but....you do need maintenance
  11. Greg, all of my lathe tools are HSK, and are custom. I assume the geometry is fine ? and tools are drawn, when tool changed. with the insert in the correct position ,i.e. facing to you/ facing away from you You then need to define the tool correctly along with clearances, this is the most crucial point, what i do with mines is set the defaults, then post to check, orientation of tool, spindle direction is correct, once i have got these done, it works fine, I am off work at the moment, so cannot check your files. So hope what i am saying is understandable.
  12. I had lots of problems with 2017, especially it crashing, constantly, 2018 is a different ball game, for me much more stable, i have not had one problem with it at all, So my opinion, is to upgrade
  13. Thanks Jeff, All of my tools are from files that i draw up, (as i do not have millturn), so to get the B axis tooling, i have to be creative.
  14. I have run the "B" type tool, on EN9 steel at 275mtrs/min rpm`s, 3mm depth of cut, and 1mm/rev, the tool cut for 34 mins, abd i could not see any wear on the edge. Interestingly, i have tried the C hook, but got the error that i needed to use a coroplus prime tool, How can you import into lathe ?
