  1. The default location for that file when installing mastercam is shared mcamx7\common\FBM folder. Is it in there?
  2. I read somewhere from CNC software that X7 HLE will not expire every 6 months like previous versions. It will eventually expire permanently sometime around the next release X8 or whatever name it ends up with.
  3. Its the Home Learning Edition. You can get it from your local re-seller.
  4. Try setting your verify option to the 5-axis engine. Sometimes the 3-axis engine will show the features on one side of the part, but just waterfall straight down on the sides. Also there are some stl tolerance settings somewhere in those options.
  5. Windows updates can cause some strange things sometimes. It once took out one of my raid backup hard drives because the firmware was not compatible with the update.
  6. If you are getting an error message that mentions target of an invocation or unable to cast object of type, then it is most likely due to a messed up netframework 4.0 installation. I have run into this twice now. Try a windows update first, be aware the netframework updates are under optional updates, not always under critical/important updates. In the two cases I ran into I had to uninstall netframework 4.0 and download/install again from microsoft's website. Make sure to re-start the computer after re-installing netframework 4.0 to get it to take effect.
  7. I was at a place a few weeks ago where X7 was crashing on verify constantly. I noticed he was running an ATI Fire Pro V5900, a decent card. We copied the mcx over to another computer with an nvidia quadro 600 and it verified fine. It also verified just fine on my dell m4400 laptop with an nvidia quadro fx1700m video card.
  8. Just took one our tech support laptops from 16 GB up to 32 GB.
  9. You should still be able to get them from your local Mastercam re-seller.
  10. Yes, hit the select catalog button, then type in a new name for a new lic file, then you can save an insert into it. See picture below.
  11. I ran into this problem a couple years ago. Mazak had to come out and change hundreds of parameter settings. It took the guy two days to get it done. He was changing them manually. He said they did not have the inch parameters for that machine on a disk. I would have tried harder to find them on a disk somewhere - Japan maybe.
  12. No, that is not what I said or meant. You will still be able to do a final (finish) cut.
  13. "Use stock as outer boundary" means that it will alter the tool path for the current operation based on the shape of the stock as it was formed by all previous operations. I recommend using it whenever it is available. I think it is only available for roughing operations. To use it you must start off by describing your raw stock in the stock setup area under "properties".
  14. might have to download the newer haspx or nhaspx from mastercam. com - I think its version 7.something.
  15. Colin, I have gotten a couple of customers reporting this error in the past few days. I sent some file in to QC a few minutes ago.
  16. I reported this to CNC Software last week. For now you will just have to use the only button.
  17. ^ I always thought that is how it functions normally. Out of curiosity I just confirmed it by trying it on X5, X6, and X7. However if you change a depth or something and re-generate the operation the toolpath disappears while rotating but does not reappear when motion stops. I have often wondered why it functions in this way but that is how its been since at least X5. In an observation related to your quote, you will notice that when you run a toolpath in backplot (X6 style) the toolpath does stay on screen while you are rotating and when rotation stops.
  18. Using the new bench mark file that was posted on Jan 12, 2012 with the computer specs listed below: X6MU3 = 7min 55 sec X7PC1 = 4 min 53 sec X6 with all products(dealer sim) Intel I7-2600K Asus P8Z68-V/GEN3 16GB Gskill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL Quadro 2000 video card standard 7200 RPM hard drive 2 x 500GB hard drives in raid_1 for data
  19. 1.) What he said ^. the cannot find parasolid data warning ususallly means you need to register the swdocument Manager. Use the search feature, it has been discussed many times. 2.) Keep in mind that to open a sldasm the sldprt files must also be available. 3.) The data I first posted was taken from a published technical document available to Mastercam re-sellers.
  20. (SLDPRT ONLY) V9-MR0105 = SW2005 X-XMR2 = SW2006 (SLDPRT AND SLDASM) X2-X2MR2SP1 = SW2008 (note windows 2000 only through SW2006) X3-X3MU1 = SW2009 X4-X4MU3 = SW2010 X5-X5MU1 = SW2011 X6-X6MU3 = SW2013 X7 = 2013
  21. Sorry for the confusion from my last post. My last reply was done with swept surface. It cannot be made with Mastercam solids. I was just pointing out that explanation from the Mastercam help files as it explains why it cannot be done. I thought it would be helpful for others that might come across this thread later.
