  1. I think you're all being way to hard on NASA. Afterall where would we be today without...well...lets see...how 'bout...um...TANG. It tasted ok if you added Koolaid and sugar to it. Besides, what the Russians saved on pens they spent on Vodka.
  2. Did they have TV's 2000 years ago?
  3. Ken, Is that a Sandwich? My Grandpa had 6 or 7 engines including one with 5'(or so) flywheels. He'd have to stand on the wheels and swing his body weight to get the thing started. He said if it back fired while he was on it, it would break a leg. I remember watching those engines run saw rigs. If the flywheel didn't get you the belt would or the PTO wheel would. It's amazing anyone in that generation died of "natural causes". My son is 4 now and I can't wait to show him the things my grandpa showed me. I'd have a mile long post if I told about all the things my grandpa did that amazed me. to him
  4. Our shop produces about 3/4 of a semi trailer full of sawdust each day!! Sorry, that's the best I've got.
  5. WOW!!! That was close! I was cringing and I didn't even start the thread. I think some pitbulls missed the scent of fresh meat. So much for entertainment today...maybe tomorrow?!
  6. I'm registered as ScottyB. on about 50 different sites. Most of those sites, I wonder if that is too telling. I feel safe on this board, but why change my system. I try to keep my last name off the net. As stated before...if someone really wants to know...they WILL find out. I thought about changing by sig to Inspector Gadget since I am entering the building inspection field, but then I'd loose my post count. On the other hand...If it weren't for real names I wouldn't have notice that Mike (my local rep.) has joined us resently. Hello Mike.
  7. Have fun James!! The wife and I were in Mexico 2 weeks ago. It was great!! Warm weather and a great resort. After the 1st night I didn't need to ask what day it was, what time it was, or what the temp. was. The answer was "Time for a drink at the swim up bar." I had to get the umbrella drinks out of my system down there...You loose your MAN CARD if you order one of those around here. ScottyB
  8. It could use a bit more chrome!! J/K Very Nice! ToolFab, It's that time of the year where I start to miss my ride. Although road salt is not our friend this time of year. Keep the shiney side up, eh!! ScottyB feelin' spring fever.
  9. WOW, I'm happy to hear that you guys screw up or need to tweak your programs. I thought I was the only one. For most new programs, I will go out and HELP run the first couple parts. My operators can tweak the the minor changes themselves. If something needs overhauling, I do it in the office. We're fortunate in the fact that my 2 operators have been working with me for 6 or 7 years. I know the limitations of each one and I'm sure they know mine. Maybe we're not the best trio in the world but knock-on-wood...we have never had a major crash on either machine. Maybe we should have one just to remind everyone that just putting a damn (.) in the wrong place can cost $20k. I have experienced everything mentioned in this thread, but my pet peeve is when you go out to the shop and the operator is not there. Is it coincidence that he is always checking a part or checking with maintenance, or getting a sample when I come down...Oh well. There may be a couple better operators out there, but there are hundreds that are worse. They might say the same about their programmer, and that's ok. I'm headed back to the classroom in 2 weeks to boost my value. "Don't sweat the petty things, Pet the sweaty things!!!!" ScottyB.
  10. My vote is for the Chevy and the kids swearing...pretty funny. A close second was the Bud light and 2 dogs. I would like to know who sits in a board room somewhere and says, "OK we're incharge of Superbowl halftime with millions of viewers of all ages...Let's have Jacko's washed up sister, play 'It's gettin' hot in hear' and lets get MTV involved. That is sure to go well." Wake up NFL and CBS...What were you thinking. That sucked! And today, to play like you are shocked is even worse. ScottyB. See you all next week...I'm headed south of the border for some warmth. 2 hours to go!!
  11. Iowajim, I wasn't referring to alternative forms of energy...I was referring to the fact that we just kicked the ash of the biggest oil hoarding dictator of all time. It would be nice if we saw a litte sumtin' for the effort. I'm not saying this is what the war was about, but it could be a benefit of the outcome. Not free oil, just justifiable prices, that's all. As for the last post... I'd sell that townhouse for $300k plus, move to WI and you'd be ahead. You could spend the difference on winter clothes and shovels.
  12. Do you need a smooth finish? If not use a 3 flute down shear carbide with a serated edge. If you need smooth then a 2 or 3 flute down shear. Climb cut and leave at least 1mm for final pass. If you buy from a company like Onsrud they can give you direction on feeds and speeds. Stay away from single flute or non-shearing cutters.
  13. You could move to NE Wisconsin. $150k will get you a nice new 3 BR home. The problem is $50k is above average income. Heating and gas costs have gone crazy and the temp reached a whopping 2F yesterday. Wait a minute...I forgot if this is a good place to live or a bad. The single most important factor in the economy is fuel. Until someone stands up to the oil hoarding SOB's out there...we're all screwed. Happy thoughts, Happy thoughts!!
  14. I create a new tool and save it to the tool library. Lets say I call it Tool 5. If I create a new job and call up Tool 5 the tool number will default to 1. Why??? The "number tools sequentially" box is not checked. What am I missing?
  15. If not for O/T, my post count would be 2. O/T gets me thinking and often leads to a solution to something in my mind. I check this forum a few times each day. I read to learn. I Post to comment. Maybe we should have a "Posts Read" count. Besides, some posts remind me that you need a sense of humor to be in this line of work. Some of you are just plain WACKED and that's a good thing. We are in the business of talking to computers or about computers. You'd be burnt out in 2 years if you didn't entertain the mind throughout the 9 hours a day. ScottyB. one post closer to a genius.
  16. quote: ...You'd think with all the 4X4s you hillbillies have this wouldn't be a problem... HEY, We're not hillbillies!! Rednecks maybe, but not hillbillies! 5" or 6" more white fluff last night. My plow truck is finally getting a work out. I'm running out of room to push the snow in my yard. About a foot on the ground now. Still not bad enough to take the 4x4 to work though. The Caddy bucks these little drifts just fine. I drove through Kentucky, Indiana, and IL in an ice/snow storm a couple years ago...you can have that junk! All of lifes problems go away when you go sledding with your kids for an hour on Sat. morning. ScottyB. in Cancun one week from today...perfect timing.
  17. Very good Cadcamjim, 6 workdays 'til I leave for Mexico. Even I'm starting to hate this weather. It's been below zero for that last couple days and it won't get above 18 for the next week. We're finally getting some snow though. -10F...cover all exposed skin. +90F...Expose as much skin as possible. Alcohol consumption will help you remember to remove even more clothing. Visions of bikinis dancing in my head. ScottyB. TGIF
  18. What a coincidence...my son's remote control truck died today too. It almost lasted a month. I feel better since mine doesn't work at 13 feet, much less 13(insert a bunch of zeros) miles. I'll bet some martian kid is having a blast up there.
  19. quote: Finally Trump fired the runt. He was in that Boardroom 3x. 3 strikes and you're out! His days were numbered after he fell asleep on the job. He might not have gotten to stike 3 with me. It's interesting to see how Trump holds the team leaders responsible for most failures. You get the feeling he's dropped the axe a few times before.
  20. That was the first time I saw Average Joe. What kind of parents never teach a kid how to ride a bike or swim? Maybe their religion didn't believe in wheels...or water????!! My wife is a Survivor junky (ok me too). If you remember Joel from the first Survivor, he was a friend of mine when I was young. He lived a couple miles from me. My wife was star struck when I introduced her to him while the show was still going on. You'd have thought I introduced her to Tom Hanks or something. I caught a couple of that Donald Trump show. I can't believe how many times those spanks interupt or try to correct Donald Trump...Rule #1, Do not interupt the richest man in America!! Kinda funny. It's actually a pretty good show. Maybe T.V. kills the brain, but what else are we supposed to do in WI once the Packers are done. It's -35 windchill this morning, so a stroll in the woods is out of the question. Later, ScottyB.
  21. More "Go fast, turn left" digs please. That was good. You all know who I cheer for, so I'll just sit here and watch the fun...How many days til training camp??? BTW, we're still ticked. Pack vs. Cat's would have been fun. ScottyB. bitter for 6 more months.
  22. I've been complaining about the lack of snow lately, so I should prolly mention that it has been a winter wonderland here the past 3 days. Light snow falling all day long. Temps 10-20 and 3-4" expected tonight. Finally got to plow, I love it. Temp dropping to 0 by Tuesday. I feel sorry for you Northeasterners (Except Philly, J/K) I also have a problem the "Global Warming" people (ie. my mother in-law is one) They make it sound like palm trees are sprouting on the Arctic Circle. Have a good weekend. Keep the little lady warm!!
  23. I was happy to see the Panthers win. Half way through the game, my wife asked me who I wanted to win. I said "It doesn't matter much." But then I saw the Ram's owner, Georgia, come down from her almighty box and standing next to Mike Marx. Then I had 2 reasons to pull for the Panthers. Unfortunately the Pack will not be playing next week. Call me a homer, but I think the better team lost. The Pack had about 4 chances to end the game...But didn't. It was an exciting weekend though...and the Pack went farther than some would have predicted. NEXT YEAR!! ScottyB lost without my Sunday ritual. Now what do I do?
  24. That's right... Greg, I forgot you're a Eagles fan. I was fortunate enough to be at last weeks game...This weekend should be just as good. Whoever goes to the big dance is going to have to earn it. I'm suprised at the spread...5.5 pts??? You know who I'm picking...It's gonna be good. ScottyB. glued to the TV
