  1. Hello all sorry for the seemingly dumb question but not sure how to open an STL file in verify in X7. I am pretty sure that it was discussed in the forum before but a search did not turn up anything very useful. It takes way too long to verify all toolpaths over again just to verify the finsih toolpath. Thanks in advance Richard
  2. I miss the Coolent Icon, it was a great double check on one of my most forgotten settings
  3. Some of the functions are also locked out, not sure of all of them but some of the CHOOKS (coons surface at least), bolt circles, things like that.
  4. Thanks for the info. I will have to try that sometime in the near future.
  5. is this add-on software or is it built right into M/C already...and what version of M/C is it in? sounds pretty cool.
  6. I teach macros and their uses, they can do some pretty cool stuff. You can create custom operations, but most of all if you do a lot of manual programming it could greatly reduce the programming time for features like bolt circles...one macro can easily be designed to make any type of bolt circle pattern. In general macros are a very important programming method that is still quite often used in industry where the same type of parts are constantly produced.
  7. OOPs I guess I should have looked before asking, I see all the extras have ben edited into the original already...sorry for being greedy and lazy
  8. Hey EX-wcc what an awesome idea, I love automatic checks for errors, it really uses computers and programs to their greatest abilities. can you post the fully edited version of the enteries after you make all the changes.
  9. I belive that the answer may be in the machine definition. The general machine parameters allow you to create new coolent commands. If you uncheck the "support coolent using coolent value in post processor" you can then make a new coolent command for the air. I have done this for the bed wash option on HAAS mills before.
  10. What version of Autocad are you using? If you are using Mastercam X5 the Autocad version must be pre X5 in other words no newer than 2011 I think. I have also found that you can not open a file by clicking on it with the educational version. You must open Mastercam first then open the file through the Mastercam open command. Hope this helps
  11. Hi Dave, you could use the 3 wire method of measuring the pitch dia. there is lots of info on this method including the calculation for the best wire size to use (this depends on the type of thread and pitch) and the correct measurement over the wires in the machinist handbook. A quick look in the book suggests the best wire size is 0.12911 but your size callout (dia.) is metric and your "pitch" is in TPI (inch) the dia. should be converted to inch. After getting this info you can then calculate the proper measurement over three wires. There is some info here about using the one wire method for ACME threads http://www.neme-s.org/Shaper%20Books/Square%20Threads/TMT%20Square%20Thread%20Info.pdf
  12. along the same lines, I edited the G28 out of my post and just inserted a location in Z that would hit the limit switch, the same could be done for the X and Y axis by putting the replacement location in quotes eg. "Z20."
  13. that is really inconvienent, is the mp master the only post that does the min. max. values. I never used to worry about them but they are a great addition to ensure proper setup height. and clearance from he vise.
  14. I have edited a post for an Okuma that I program for and I am now pretty used to seeing the min. max travel, I am now programming a HAAS using the GENERIC HAAS 4X MILL post. I can't seem to get it to post the overall or the indiviual tool min. max travel. is it possible to do this or am I missing something real simple?
  15. I've finally started to mess with the project but won't have much time to really get at it till next week, I will send it along as soon as I can.
  16. Hi guys this is looking like a cool topic, I don't know how much time I will have for any real input but I love the challenge of new parts. Count me in. I do only 3 axis programming at this point but would like to learn multi axis.
  17. Sorry to be a PITA but I don't run High Speed Toolpaths, I was going to benchmark this past weekend not sure if I understand the instructions properly. Am I supposed to change the ARC filter in the parameters of each of the last three toolpaths to 0.0001 then regenerate them and time them?
  18. Thanks Ex-wccprogrammer at least I know where to look for the values. I will try to add it to my post sometime soon.
  19. Hello all Just wondering if it is possible to have the post pickup the defined stock size from the stock setup and add it in the comments on the header. Currently I am adding it as a manual entry. Thanks in advance
  20. Hi guys I recently found a small FREE program that accually views the STL files, its called STL viewer its and easy google search and is available for download. Just thought you might want to know that you can sort through all the old STL files without viewing them all through MasterCAM.
  21. I went through 5 mice before I found one I like and works, I ended up with a logitech mx mouse cost near $100 but ergo design and works great even through walls and floors(if that matters) and on any surface.
  22. Thanks Jay, downloading now I will give it a try on my setups
  23. I'd like to do the test but can't find the benchmark file, I don't have the original disks. any suggestions?
