i was on a long weekend and just caught
this thread. i wasn't able to read all
the respones, do you have and adress so
i can send by mail. thanks
marty
thad has a thread called oops. in it you can
see a big die. you will also see bushings and
wear plates.like thad said of the strippers
you might have bushing or pin holes to put in
and the rest is basicly clearance for punches.
watch the tolerences and you will know if a
certain part is fussy or not.usally two places
are + or -.01 and three + or - .001.i do alot
of profiling on form punches and die steels.i also do alot of strippers and adapters like
you see in thads die.like thad said i don't
know of any book out there. if you like i could
take some pictures of some of ours to give
you an idea. it would'nt be untill monday.
man i could go on and on about this
hth

afternoon everyone
i have a big ring of stainlee steel to cut.
i have'nt machined this in many many moons.
it's a big ring 33.00 ins. in dia. i have
some pockets and large holes to put in some
tapped hole etc, etc.before i call our cutter
guy i am coming here first.it is 304 ss
thats all i know about it. i will be using a 1.5 dia 3 inserted dyna shear. the inserts are coated
and they work really well on reg. steel a2,d2,s7
and so on.i run that cutter at 2300 rpm at a
feed of 230.i would like some input on the
speeds and feeds for this job.any ideas are
always appreciated.this job should only take
around 6 hours to do.the operator says it
will take him 8 to ten. well i know this
operator and yea it will take him that long.
the owner bet us a lunch that it will take that
long to do.cause my big mouth said it won't take
that long. so i want to have everything set
for the operator.well thanks in advance.
going home now and wait for all the freezing rain
have a good day all.

i have 8.1.1 on my comp. also 9.1.
i don't have all the window updates either
i only do 2d stuff. but 8.1.1 runs great
so does 9.1. if it's a brand new comp.
it has to be a hardware issue
marty
right on the money Tim. when i was
on the floor and had a problem i
would double check everything.
when i was satisfied i had everything
correct,then i would go upstairs.never
did i ever say ,hey your program sucks.
we all have to work together.now the
operaters we have now don't bother with
checking any thing out,its the program
that's wrong.well 98 percent of the time
it's the operater being a dumb arse,just
to lazy to check anything out.the other
2 percent is me.just yesterday i had a
operater come up and did this very thing.
i said ok and i checked my program right in front
of him.i said looks good.turns out he didn't
rotate his program correctly.now if he would
have checked everything out he would have
found his problem.no no it's the program man.
i don't get mad at anyone cause like i said
we all have to work together. just like
this forum.we are all working together.
this place has helped me over and over again.
just my 2c have good new year all

up on the inside.there having the same problem

but you know. they will just use there mallot
to open the vice.hth
