  1. Great Idea, i don't mind throwing down some toolpaths, but I don't think i'll have time to be part of the group. you could add me to the list and I can stop in from time to time
  2. Is Haas the best thing on the market? No Do they make parts and make people money? Yes Are they a good value for the Dollar? Absolutely You will find at-least 1 Haas in close 90%+ shops in North America. I would put one in my shop if I owned one. Is it my first choice of a machine? No, but when it comes down to what you can afford a Haas makes alot of sense, maybe not as fast or as efficiently as other machines but a lot easier on the pocketbook. Are there good Chinese/Taiwanese machines out there in the same price point? Yes.. but where do you find parts for them in 5-10 years?
  3. Surface Rough Pocket Compensate tool to inside additional offset = Toolrad Drive = Whole part Containment = Top edge
  4. If the Mouse has macro capability you can record whatever keystrokes you like and assign them to a button. Macro Double Click = Alt+F1 etc etc
  5. You can do the above suggestions Force the line of code your after in the Post (Eliminate Manual Entry) If using Cimco EditPro make a Macro that inserts the Line
  6. Cimco editpro has an option in the backplot window to save as DXF also
  7. Just spitballing here Move the offset out, run the previous paths in the air, move offset back the continue on?
  8. Since V8, and I have used other CAM packages. I don't have a problem with Dynamic and I can use it just fine. I was simply stating that for some people the Xform 3-D is easier to use, they both have pros/cons depending on the scenario I can see your point about Retraining MC users, but I am talking "Green to CAM" users I generally skip it (again depending on the class), For the more advanced classes I force people to use it if they are not already, just so they can compare the differences. I have had students in my Mill1 Class that don't even know computer basics.. like how to move a mouse...........Create Line Endpoint is pushing the limit, so no way I am touching Dynamic Other side of the coin I have had students who excel and I show them how to surface machine with Mill1 and thinking outside the box
  9. I use both daily, they both have there uses, as good as Dynamic is I have seen way too many people swing a part 89.899Deg instead of 90 or something like that. On a complicated Solid it sometimes hard to set the genome right, snap to a chamfer depth instead of top of hole etc. Also for people who are new to mastercam, I don't even show the Dynamic, to complex for "most" new Mcam users. Depends on the group I am teaching.
  10. you could take your programmed part and "save as" "Template Part1234", delete the geometry, re-save. Then file merge your new partfile, you will have to recreate your WCS if you don't want to xform your part out of car position, then reselect chains/geom in operations.
  11. Talk to your boss about taking some Training, In-House offers it in Missasuaga, Cambridge or on-site http://www.inhousesolutions.com/training/schedule.php
  12. You have 0.01 defined as stock to leave on Z,and Clearance of Z set to 0, technically a .01 crash. Set Z clearance to 0.01+ to get rid or warning.
  13. I never create Curves on all edges, I just create them when I need them for toolpathing, Keeps your file much cleaner and makes it a lot easyer selecting Geometry as the autocursor is not trying to snap to 128907018273 things
  14. NAS, network attached storage. I moved away from a home server and have never looked back, It is a hassle to maintain another PC, just to store stuff, Build myself a NAS and now have everything backed up weekly, If your data is sensitive you can back it on a cloud service from your NAS. Years ago I ran RAID arrays, but after struggling with data loss, and painstakingly rebuilding data I reverted back to the "KISS" analogy. Single Drives, backed-up onto single Drives. With the speed and size of HDD now days RAID only shines when your files are HUGE. Also I don't need a huge PC tower, as most of my HDD's are in the "server room" ie: basement/garage/laundry. Single SSD for OS, everything else on NAS. My data is available on any PC in the home without a hitch.
  15. one of the best employees I ever had I thought he was boarderline retarded in the interview, if I went on impressions alone I would have never hired him. I gave him a shot with the love/hate deal and I gave him a higher than "$Y" value after the second day he impressed me so much.
  16. Is your network setup for "roaming profiles"? or does or does your IT store your "user" folder on a network location? //server/users/Ray/mydocuments/mymcx6?
  17. when I was hiring/firing I did a 2 week love/hate trial. I hired them for 2 weeks at $X, if they could not do what they said they could or where not worth the $X I sent them packing, or kept them at $X or less. Depending what positions I needed or thought they could learn etc. If after the 2 weeks, if they were worth $X they stayed the same wage, if they were worth $Y I payed them the $Y for the initial 2 weeks (back-pay essential) You find out very quick who can do what is listed on their resume, usually if they said "no Thanks" they could not do what was on their resume and it saves us both the time.
  18. If you have Multiaxis Morph between 2 curves works great for that shape, force it to 3 axis output. Gives you all kinds of roughing options if needed. Otherwise all of the suggested paths work.
  19. open mcx-5 file with mcx-6, then save as mcx-6 Or File>Update Folder>update the folder you have MCX files stored.
  20. If you have Cimco DNC-Max check this out http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=71947
  21. This could be done with Mill1 and Curve/Drill Addon It would be much easyer with MIll3 and Multiaxis. I would probably machine it in a rotary with extra stock on the ends to removed after, as this way you don't need to make any fixtures, and I hate handling parts
  22. Basic WCS picking, you could Also Transform your existing path to a different Plane. THDMILL.MCX-6
  23. Depending on your post, it might not even bee looking at those settings in mastercam, your post could also be set to force the feed values
