  1. Spoiled being in Silicon Valley....if I order a tool by 9am it's here by lunch. If I order by lunch it's here by 4. Western Tool and Supply. MSC is a last resort.
  2. I have both x6 and x8 in my quick launch task bar in windows 7 but I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. I haven't done a zip-to-go file or rolled back to a previous date. Thanks for pointing out the save-as config file under configuration.
  3. Out of the blue all of my customization's disappeared. Background color, tool bars, right-click menus. I spent a lot of time getting these dialed in. - Did I inadvertently do something wrong? - Is there a way to save these settings so if this were to happen again, I can reset them? Running X8 0.26.0.139
  4. Have you asked the customer if it can be redesigned? This is going to be an expensive feature and it's possible the customer could easily modify their assembly. Telling them that feature will cost them an extra $$$$ per piece may motivate them.
  5. Yup, cathedral explained it perfectly. It's not a huge deal but thought i 'd throw it out there since it doesn't hurt to ask
  6. Correct, I'm talking about the menu that appears when pressing the right mouse button. I have the quick-mask-wireframe icon loaded in it. When you left click the QM icon, it selects all wireframe which is good. When you right click the QM icon, it should allow you to select only wireframe ignoring solids/surface/etc. But it doesn't.
  7. I use my right mouse button to access my most commonly used tools. With the Quick Mask icon however I'm not able to right-click the icon from within the menu. Is there a way to get the Quick Mask button to work the same way from within the menu as it does on the main screen?
  8. This is indeed interesting. I apologize in advance if this is a silly question but I just never get this kind of work. On a job like this do you... A ) Position the part using the trunnion, then lay 3 axis tool paths on top of it. (repeating this sequence to reach all areas of the part) B ) Use full simultaneous 5 axis motion C) Combination of both I'm guessing you do "A" to rough and "B" to finish. I'm also guessing if you don't have access to a full 5 axis module you can finish the entire part using method "A"?
  9. I think the idea of lean is great but sometimes common sense needs to prevail. Back to the original post....you have an order for two parts but one part doesn't ship until next month. Running one, tearing down and setting up again next month doesn't make any sense. Maybe if the setup time is 10 minutes and the cycle time is 10 hours but for most jobs it seems obvious that you just run one more part while it's setup. Putting parts on the shelf and shipping from stock has worked extremely well for me but I do understand the argument against.
  10. Should I be glad it wasn't just me or pissed I spent an hour trying to figure out a button that has no meaning?
  11. There is a switch in verify labeled "fixtures".....how do I tie a fixture to this? Are there any rules?
  12. I switched from blaser to qualchem this year too. I did it because of foaming problems with blaser though...not smell
  13. What does one need to do to see the off topic forum? I've owned mastercam for three years.
  14. The longest running repeat order in history and I'm starting to get sick of it
  15. I figured it out...use boolean remove using a "dummy" solid. I was trying to extrude-cut using wireframe geometry and it didn't like that
  16. What if I want a disjointed body? Is there a way to cut a solid in half? I'm using x6 It seems like this should be pretty straight forward???
  17. This is a great source of models.... http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/
  18. That worked...thank you! You're right, I did do a lot of copy and pasting on this file.
  19. I get this error when trying to save....what have I done to deserve this?
  20. Thanks....I like doing things the hard way:-/
  21. I'm modeling a fixture that has 250+ holes so my solids "tree" has 250 "extrude cut" I need to change the depth of these holes. How do I change the depths without having to go into 250 parameters and manually changing it?
  22. Attached is a short description of what the NTMA considers a "class A" shop. It has motivated me to get my shop in order. If starting from scratch you have the luxury of doing it right from the beginning. I don't have skylights but I have 3 roll-up doors in a 3,300 sqft space. One of the things I love about my shop is it's bright with a lot of fresh air blowing through. We're in the San Francisco Bay Area where the climate is mild so the doors are up 99% of the time. If we get a glare on our monitors in the afternoon we can roll the door down half way. I give two thumbs to at least 4 roll-ups doors. I couldn't stand working in a huge dungeonous shop with no fresh air. I don't do any crazy tolerance stuff so the temperature isn't an issue. Shop_Image_A_.pdf
  23. +1 Seems like it would be an easy add
