  1. Does anyone have experience with cimco probing? About half the price of renishaw
  2. It's ok but I get 2 or 3 tools per page. Having 6 per is very nice.
  3. Are you willing to share this beauty of a template? I'll buy you a beer or a burrito or a %$@#?
  4. It may be as easy as this! Still curious if this is the best workflow for automating the setup process.
  5. 24 work offsets because I have 24 parts fixtured and probing them all gives higher accuracy. We use Jergens Ball-lock system across our 7 vertical machines so vises/rotaries/fixture plates are interchangeable throughout. To date...it's not zero-point. I'm using G10 to load approximate locations and letting the probing routine dial everything in. That part is working. I was just wondering how other people are storing their probing routines and if there is any downside to having it loaded after M30 and if there is a way to get mastercam to post it as such.
  6. I'm curious what workflow shops are using for probing. I have manually created a probing program to touch off all tools and probe 24 different work offsets. My thought is to insert this program after the M30 of the main program. This way all the operator has to do is load the tools and fixtures...search for the "N12345" probing routine and push the green button to setup the job. I wanted to use manual entry to do this but I was told I can't get manual entry to post after an M30. I'm curious how other shops store and call up their probing cycles.
  7. I would think too that the first year would be included.
  8. I think I've heard Crazy mention he always locks his holder and tool together. What are the pros and cons of doing that as opposed to doing what is mentioned above? I need to build a new robust tool library from the ground up and want to get it correct from the beginning.
  9. I'm moving out of the dark ages and starting to utilize probing for setting up and tool breakage detection. Currently I'm just entering the code manually after the last operation of the tool I want checked. I read Bob's last post and it sounds like he's using integers/reals for tool breakage code. I'm sure there is a good reason but can someone explain how that works?
  10. That was it....phew....thank you!
  11. It's a tower with dual nvidia K1200 video cards. The power supply went out on this about a week and a half ago which I replaced
  12. I'm experiencing wire-frame geometry "disappearing" when I spin it or view it in isometric view. It reappears when it's in top view. Is this a sign the file is corrupt? Or am I having a graphics card problem? It's not happening on other files though that I can see.
  13. What is process of changing multiple hole diameters? I want to change a bunch of .078" dia. to .080" dia. It must be something simple I'm just not seeing.
  14. Also Walter A1249XPL work well. I cut alloy 49 with these two.
  15. I'd like to bump this...my mc defaults to 11x17 ....have you found a way to get the printer setting to stick?
  16. I've been wanting to setup a home pc but was told I needed to switch my dongle to a nethasp and my re-seller warned that it wasn't a supported. Is there a way of doing this with a dongle?
  17. I have an old carousel tool changer machine with the alarm. It's not so much an alarm as it is a message that says "low air pressure". The machine still runs fine and I'm guessing this will bite me in the a$$ at the worst possible time so I should probably take care of it. Tool restore doesn't work.
  18. damn...you model your vise nicer than I model my parts....I need to step up my game.
  19. Thanks for the input gentlemen. The price quoted to transfer to nethasp wasn't that bad. I hadn't lost a set of keys for 20 years but somehow I'm on my third set of keys this year...needless to say I don't trust myself carting around a dongle.
  20. dealer says they can convert to net hasp for $$$ but it's not designed for vpn and offer no support for it....but that sounds like it may be the best option anyways. It also means I'll have to invest in a beefy computer for the house. How complicated is it to setup for someone (like myself) with zero networking experience? I may play with the remote desktop first just to see how it works...doesn't hurt to try I guess.
  21. I want to setup a home office to program using remote desktop. I have one seat of MC at work using a dongle. Shop PC: Intel Xeon E5-2360 64g ram quadro K1200 (2x) solid state HD dual monitors Internet speed at the shop is: 30 mbps down 10 mbps up Internet speed at home is: 100 mbps down I don't do any crazy multi axis surfacing or anything like that. 99% is 2.5 axis but work extensively with solids. Questions: This should be doable, right? How powerful of a PC do I need on the home side of things? If I have dual monitors at home will my workspace behave just as it does at the shop? Or should I have one extra large home monitor? What is the best remote desktop software to use? Thanks for the help!
