  1. The way around the bracket for us was to use the square brackets "[ ]" that are used for Macro B on Fanuc. It's just a matter of getting used to write it that way. It will look like this: ( tool 3 [regrind] small pocket)
  2. You need to edit the registry. look here: http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/58954-open-with-problem-with-x5/?p=769141 This is a recurring thing since X5 and Cnc Software has never came up with a solution. HTH,
  3. Thanks ajmer, Did some testing and that is exactly what I wanted. Have a nice day,
  4. Hello, I think I am getting close, I found the newfs command that allows to change the format statement but not the letter assigned to a variable. Does such a command exist? Regards,
  5. No, this is not what I need. On this particular machine, the Z axis is the quill and the W axis is an enveloppe around the quill and it is much stronger. So we can machine everything with the Z axis or the W axis, even canned cycle. If we machine with Z, W is a positionning axis. If we machine with W, Z is a positionning axis. I found the newfs command but it does not allow me the change the letter assigned to a variable, only the format statement. This is really close to what I am looking for but not quite.
  6. No, I misused mi1$ in my example. could have been mi2$, mi3$, whatever number you want. This machine can machine both with the Z axis and the W axis. Depending on the application, we need to machine with both the Z and W axis.
  7. Thanks bd41612, but I do not think this is what I am looking for. I want the post to output Z moves if mi1$ = 0 and output W moves if mi1$ = 1. I need to read the format statement after the misc value for each operation is read. I am really lost as to what I need to do to have it work.
  8. Hello, I have a functionnal post for a 4 axis HBM with a quill. The output is always for the Z axis. I have been asked if I could modify the post to output either Z axis or W axis moves depending on the value of a misc value. I know I have to change the format statement from "Z" to "W", but my question is how to have these format statements recognize de misc value. At this point, from my understanding, the post has not read the misc values when it reads the fmt lines and I can not format the variables once the toolpath is started to be written. Could somebody please explain to me what I have to do to make this work? Thanks in advance,
  9. Hertz, You can be a member of the mastercam site, all you need is a valid HASP number.

  12. To create a z2G file go to Help -> Zip2go utility Make sure to add the post file in you z2g.
  13. Like was mentionned before, Create a z2g file to share or at least screen shots of your operation settings in mastercam.
  14. You post are in the shared mcamX? folder (C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx?\mill\posts) They are text files, just open them with any text editor. HTH
  15. You might want to check these 2 lines in your post (they are from the generic Haas post): sg98 : "G98" #Reference at initht sg99 : "G99" #Reference at refht sgdrlref : "" #Target string HTH,
  16. Thanks again CJep! That looks like what we need. Have a nice day,
  17. Here is a video of the tool coming out. This is all I can show... Sorry MOV01378.zip
  18. Thanks CJep, But this is not what I am looking for. I did program my roughing that way. The client did send us a video of them doing it with a boring bar with the same dia. as the bore. Much like a straight bore with a boring bar. The bar goes in with X-Z-B moves and takes the reverse way out. Hope that makes it more clear to understand. Have a nice day,
  19. Hello, Attached is a file of a part I need to do. We use a 4 axis HBM to do this job. Basically it is a bore that runs on a circle. I know it can be done by 5 axis port and I have programmed it. But for finishing, we would like to go with a boring bar running X-Z-B. Is this something that can be done with mastercam? The center of rotation of the table is at Mastercam origin. Any help will be welcomed, we do not do a lot of 4-5 axis work. FORUM.mcx-8 Regards,
  20. Is it in a geometric tolerance box? If it is, it's a bad translation of the gd&t font. the translation is Ø. HTH
  21. Albertzini, It is the same thing as what was discussed before. Do the math for first rotary axis and start from the resut to do the math for your second rotary axis.
  22. The toolbar in X8 can not be imported from a previous version of mastercam. The right click menu and the key mapping can though. You will have to create a new toolbar with X8. AFAIK, you can not put a tool bar to the right of the tool manager because of the new functionality that they added with the tool manager (auto-hide, dock/undock) HTH
  23. For the dots you see, go to Settings -> Configuration -> CAD Settings -> Uncheck Display arc center points. HTH
  24. I don't know about your probe but Renishaw has some adapters that mount on C8. Our OMP60 and RMP 60 have that. You can than just add capto extensions. HTH
