  1. no but I am very impressed with mold-plus and what it does. The other guy has played with alot more than me but he did some really time saving stuff using it. Crazy Millman Wow that was 200 and sorry guys dont want that avatir thing just like talking on here. Maybe when I get to 500 I'll think about it. 2. But do what you want I took the Fadal Post right out of the box and yes it supports E fixture offset. It also support subs and it also supports the can cycles. I would tweak the one out of the box for your machine and how you have them set-up and if you dont know post processors I recommned calling your dealer. Crazy Millman
  3. I have to agree with May^Day and like clearance plane but I have found with our post if you are doing different depth holes fr othe start that an incremental retract plane works the best wit hthis application and keeps that R vaule the correct way for drilling mulitplane holes. I have seen that and just do this as a way around any possible problems. I guess since we here make our programs, set them up, make the parts, and finish the parts we try to keep it from happening to us. Crazy Millman
  4. Robb I would try a feed rate of about .005 to .008 per tooth per rev. Depending on your machine may have to do the FEEd per inch on the Rpm you use. Since you are doing 420 SS I would start at about 220 SFM and work up fromthere probaly very slow but can always kick it up I might start at like 420 SFm but I am crazy like that. i would problay shoot for something like 55-85% ingagement on the tool to be eefective i think if you go less that 50% mihgt give you some chatter problem and with the 15% to 45% step over if you dont have through the spindle coolant will help for chip evacuation. It may also be good to do like a pecking cycle with the tool if not using through the spindle coolant to keep the material from work harding and from buliding up heat. Just some things to think about is all. Crazy Millman
  5. Thnaks Chris for the referesh of my Memory. it has been over 8 years ago since i ran and programmed an okuma. Oh did the old cut and paste to put in my handy notebook. Crazy Millman
  6. Hey lets us all know what works for you. Crazy Millman
  7. Product Development Guy. Was I wrong in what I said. If you have the setting on this page small does it not make your surface and solid infromation tight in tolerance. Crazy Millman
  8. Sorry!!! Bodgan this a great place to ask for help and there are some very smart people in here that help me all the time. Mistook your question and see you got some great help. I would also look at the okuma home position setting if memeory serves me right without getting out the book and seeing you can change it one the machine and if the number is larger than the postion it will not give you a problem. The only reason I bring it up I use to do production on ours and hated the time it took for the distance back when using all tools sticking out a little bit. I would just change it on the machine and it was always no problem when the post made the x20 z20 call for the tool change and home position call. You may already know this but just thought I would throw it out there. Crazy Millman
  9. Thansk for that Tip Plasttav have always wanted to do that. Crazy Millman
  10. Pip without looking at the file and not knowing if this limited to this part only or all jobs I will throw this out there. Maybe your post has a Misc part that allows for a fixture call in an absolute or incremetnal call. If for soem reason it does this could make the path do the crazy thing. One other thing is to look at the end of the file or between tool calls and see what the G91 G28 is told to do and see if it looks right. Sorry we are moving and have no internet at work. I will also be visting with family from florida so will not be able to check back till monday just hoping I can help you in someway. Might want to think about getting all of the latest and greatest updates. Good Luck post back what helps and I will see what ol knowledgeable plasttav gets you going with. Crazy Millman
  11. Ok if it has been put out here i am sorry to repeat but to lazy to read all them pages. I would like the ability to use the right click to repeat the last operation when doing design work. mMaybe it does it and I just dont know how to use but like if you are doing offset be really cool to just right click and keeping bringing up the offest dialog verse esc then o. In other things may not want it to work that way I dont know the frist thing about making this program work the way it does but be a neat tool for drawing doing like fillets or maybe things like that. 12. Like I said you are the VB guy I apperciate you getting that out there for me. I took your idea of the set and created me a template to do the same thing for set-ups. I thoguht that was very cool and used the Mpmaster post and intregrated it with my Mpfadal post to get the best of both. Then I just thought about it and worked alittle and got what I think will be a good printout showing me the tooltable with all the Max-Mins and Amount of Materal left for each opertion like the Mpmaster does. It took a little work to get them to work together but it will help me and make my job eaiser. I owe you and write me if I can help you anytime. Crazy Millman
  13. Thnaks Charles we had the same type of part come up back in Florida and it had about 200 something hole and we did it through the 3d construction plance creating circles and every hole for the inner and outer skin. We then created a line through the center of ech hole to make the vector. The psot for The thermwood worked very god that we didnt need alot of operation it did all of the mutanting of the head and calucation very well. Thanks for the tip added it to the Notebook. Crazy Millman
  14. Yeah scoot I think you are getting a ladder conflict or a parameter that may beed to be changed to get it to realize the code. The only other thing I could add which sucks is to put the G85 at every position. We have the ability on the machine we have it to read the code once or on every line code so it may be something that simple. I will throw something out there that may seem out in left felid but have seen it effect a machine tool. Do you have a grounding rod for the machine. I have seen electrial interfence make machines do crazy things and with the grounding rod it seems to keep it from effecting the machine. Just a crazy thought from the crazy millman. Good Luck, Crazy Millman
  15. Well dallen I have heard all of the sales pitches fro mthem all. i have had them all come in and do the same part. The part was a 440 SS 90 3" female pipe nipple. I was making the whole part from rectangle bar stock. I not only got more capabilite with Mastercam but It was easily repsented, modeled and created from scratch. I have a guy that works with me that just switched over from A very pricey software and he is doing Modelmaking and complete part repoduction using Mastercam. I will also back up the ability to write your own posts and make them do what you want very easy. I have no computer language skills but can follow the postprosser code very easy. I have worked on a post for a 5 axis machine and figured it out. I would also recommned that you look on the market and see what books are avaiable for the other software out there. We get files in all types of formats from Solidworks, Pro-E, Parasolid, IGES, and yes STL. Our files are sometimes very big up to 60 and 70 mb and can use them very well. I also like the add-ons that Mastercam has like Moldplus it is a great time saving tool. I will also say this what tools do you have in your toolbox. I have about $40,000 worth and the Majority are Starrett. I feel if you want to do the best work buy the best so if you want to get the best program for the job buy Mastercam you want to get by and wodner if buy the others. Crazy Millman PS: May be not so crazy afterall.
  16. Well you can do a surface/finish/contour and it will finish the pockets like you want just set your step down like .005 to .002 depending of how good of a finish you want to get. I would also you a bonudray it helps to keep everything the way you want. Depending of the part you may also need to use check surfaces. You can do all of the pockets at one time but sometimes the toolpaths do better if you break it up makes more operations but seems sometimes to make the calcuations go faster. There is also something else you can try which is surface/finish/scallop but this seems to take along longer to do the figuring so try that if the other doesn't work and see if that helps. Good luck, Crazy Millman PS Sorry cant look at your file we are in the middle of a move and the new shop has no internet yet and doing this from home. I will be off till monday and out of town so Good Luck post back if what we said helps.
  17. Have you looked at your gap setting in your parameter page I seen it defaulted from the install at 300% I set mine to 1% I have noticed it make the surfaces tighter and creates less flats across the curves surfaces. I would also look to see what your filter setting are set to maybe set them to .0001 and see if that helps. Both of these will increase your file saze and time to do the calucations. I would also look at the Machine controller and see if it has a parameter for tolerance of moves in your arc movements. I have seen some machines that you can control the axail & helical movemets. I would call my machine tool support people and see if they can help you tweak your servos to smooth that out. I have played with the gain before and got a great imporvement in parts apperance and accuracy. Good Luck, Crazy Millman
  18. Nope two words all is good. I can understand we all want to make sure it is good. I still say I am trying to fill big shoes of a taleneted person may never get there but never hurts to try. We from the south put fertelizer in our shoes to help us grow bigger but some times all we get is dirty feet. Sorry about the 4 months remark been about 2 years with Mastercam. You know about trying to do the impossbile with the sitution I am in here. Oh yeah Javier is doing excellent with Mastercam I am very impressed with him and glad to have soemone of his ability here to help me get the work done. Best Regards, Crazy Millman

  21. If you took the commnet as a comparsion to you and what you do then it was not meant that way was only a statement that I am capble as a Machinist. It was pointed out to me that you knew each other and I was just trying to assertain that I was not so far out of the process as it was stated. Crazy Millman
  22. Garz that .01 corner radius is a real bear. I would see if your customer will allow you to make them straight through to the other side if possible make them small and have them wire EDM out. Or see if the angle of the sides will clear if done with a Wire. If I had to try to machine that I would be using Diamond coated endmills. I can only say that is a real pain in the but job. Doing 10 pcs I would charge $1500 each easy on the hope I didn't get it. Crazy Millman
  23. Thanks for the information Plasttav. I will give it a try. Crazy Millman
  24. Yeah knew them size 9-1/2 shoes where not that size 11 shoes. Holding my own is getting the job done I have been asked to do and keeping food on the table to keep my family with a roof over there head. If you have a problem with my laps will be glad to give you some numbers to call if you need them. Mastercam experience is 4 months and Cam experience is total of 9 years. Programming since 1991 on NC controls and got taught some CNC programming in 1988. Crazy Millman [ 08-20-2003, 12:46 AM: Message edited by: Millman^crazy ]
