  1. I know there must be a way to do this, but I haven't been able to find the right toolpath for it. I want to have a 3/16 ballmill cut a single pass along the the fillet surfaces, using the arc (that I've also projected onto the surfaces). Not a 5x toolpath, just a 3x, as the walls of the cylinder are vertical. What toolpath should I be using to get this to work?
  2. To be fair, you can find some vocal rants on just about every subject . But, in truth, this is one of the finest forum I've ever belonged to.
  3. This has been a burr in my butt for quite a while as well. I've just sent an email. I'll report the results, if it gets resolved. Thanks again Ron, you are a constant source of useful information. One of the giants!
  4. Well, since there seem to be a couple of issues, I was wanting to find out what was changed before I install it.
  5. Anyone know where the release notes are for this?
  6. Nick, we are running the job on our Mazak Variaxis i800: CAT50, max torque 432, max RPM 10,000. For the main 3D roughing passes we're using Widia's Varimill III 3/4" 7 flute with 2.25" length of cut (order #5971446). Unfortunately I have been unable to persuade management to invest in a shrink fit system, and I have had too many pull out problems with hydraulic holders on roughing paths, so we are using standard endmill holders (we grind a flat on the tool). The cutting parameters we're using right now are: 180 SFM, 200% (1.50") Ae, 8% Re (0.06"), 0.003" IPT.
  7. Open the Machine Definition Manager and open the General Machine Parameters. You can set your min/max feed limits there. Can't help with the steel screw brass nut info. I would think remaking the nut out of oil impregnated bronze might help.
  8. Hmm. Well, I usually use the tool mfg recommendations, at least to start at. But we have a titanium job we're running right now, that is 48 hours (according to MC, it will undoubtedly take longer) and I just tried checking the RCTF box on 5 operations, and it dropped around 7.5 hours off of the time! I'm a bigger sissy than you though, because I'm not going to try it until I know a whole lot more about it.
  9. I never noticed this before. What exactly does it do?
  10. I didn't check, I thought about that after I left work Monday. But it hasn't popped up again since then. I've been copying & pasting for the last two days, the same as i was Monday, but the behavior has stopped. I always shut down MC at the end of the day, but often leave winders open for multiple days, unless I'm having issues. I'm going to put this one down to Gremlins.
  11. I started getting this error today when copying & pasting operations from one machine group to another. The 1st time I didn't think much about it, because I was copying from a 3 axis machine to a 5 axis. But I keep getting it even when I copy from identical machine groups (same machine different groups, same MD/CD/post). So I shut down my PC, and did a cold boot. I just copied a manual entry, from identical machine groups & got it. There are no actual errors, just the popup.
  12. The file I'm working on is pretty large. I just noticed this is true for my drill ops as well. I did shut down the PC completely, to see if that changed anything, but it did not. I can change the construction & tool planes, from the planes page, but only if the C & T planes match the WCS plane.
  13. I often copy and paste operations, then reassign geometry and plane info. In 2022 I can't go to the planes page, in the operation, and change the construction & tool planes. The selection buttons function & I can select the plane I want, but after clicking the plane it doesn't change. I can select the correct planes in the planes manager & edit common parameters to change them, so it's not a huge deal, just odd.
  14. This worked for me https://www.emastercam.com/forums/topic/103502-tool-mgr-tools-from-part-to-library/
  15. Either one will work for me. I am really excited about this, it's a functionality I haven't explored before.
  16. Let me know what time, if you decide to do a live stream. I've got some welding to do tomorrow morning, but hopefully it won't take to long.
  17. Yeah, once Ron got me pointed in the right direction, I discovered quite a few new tricks!
  18. I got it! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Ron.
  19. Oh! You remove the 1mm fillets, rework the sections , then recreate the fillets?
  20. The bottom side where you have removed the stepped area, I can remove the fillets, but I can't Push/Pull the stepped face to match the other one.
  21. How did you accomplish the model prep? I can never seem to remove most of the features, I can't even come close to what you've done here!
  22. We do aerospace parts, I struggle with these types of features all the time. I have a 6mm cutter with 1mm corner radius. It seems like it should be fairly simple to cut the green faces, using the yellow face as a floor. I often try to create surfaces, untrim them, project geometry on them & retrim them. But as often as not, I cannot create them correctly. I keep thinking that with the new unified 5X path I should be able to do this easier. How do y'all approach things of this nature? SWARF.mcam
