this issue can be seen with the sample file that came with MCX
the file is:
contour finish high speed corner rounding-mm.mcx
you can see that the surface finish result will be better if you don't use the filter
when I use filter in surface contour toolpath I got a bad surface finish, especially on round parts and on the corners of other shape parts
this start to happened in ver. X, I used it all the time in ver 9 without any problem.
Without filtering I got nice surface but with longer program
MR2 installed
I am using filter ratio 2:1
Total tolerance 0.02 mm
One way filtering.
I tried to change a lot to work around this issue.
In verify , simulate tool, it can show me that the surfaces not perfect.
I didn’t read any one wrote about this issue, so maybe its only with me!!!!!
its not understood to me Matt, in the HST area toolpathes, it will leave or goug withinn the tolerance???!!!!
I know that if I want the tool to go to -9 mm I don't want it to go to 8.995 mm,
so accurate work we have to do with normal surface pocket??
In the HST-area clearance metric sample file, the tool should go to Z -9 mm, instead it go to -8.995 mm leaving 5 micron!!!
If I create surface pocket toolpath on the same part it go to -9 mm as it should
This situation happened also to my parts, so it’s not just with this sample part.
I don’t have the Inch Samples, so I can’t check if this happened to there also???
MR2 installed here
Any Ideas????
it didn't crash for me for some time now.
I think hardware play a big resone for crashes
so maybe you can try the same part on two diff computers, one will crash and one wont.
for that reson reporting the crashes to qc will help them in solving such problem.
and I don't think reporting the crash here will help
if you make a search, you will find a lot of topics about this thing, any way you have to set mcam to use about the half of your ram which is 1gb in your case
Hi Hans,
this issue was coverd several times, if you make a search you can find about it
here is a link:

and welcome to the forum
Its 2D, to try it I create a rectangular and create flat surface from it, delete the rectangle chain, and create curve on that surface,
before MR1 I got line on that surface, now , I got only spline,
I tried another thing, if I create solid from the surface and create curve on the solid I got lines and arcs as it should.
Something wrong here!!!!
