  1. Try bfad9.pst from the ftp. make sure you also get the bfad9.txt file. It also has the cool tool list from one of the newer posts. There is a mc9 file called posttest. I made it to test some important features that you don't think about.
  2. try post fad9.pst. make sure you download fad9.txt. Set misc int 2 to 1 to enable g8 in contouring
  3. I used them a couple of times. I understand that they are not used for high speed steel or cobalt because of the thermal expansion coefficient is too similar to the holder. The tools go in but won't come out. Good for carbide.
  4. I have recently discovered canned text. It seems to be the proper application for this. I have only used it for M00 but I would for M60,M61 or any "one code" command. You can also use more than one of your canned text strings. I took all the canned text info from mpfan and took about an hour to debug.
  5. I regenerated the toolpath and it looks fine.
  6. One note about blend. Pick only the surfaces you absolutely need. The operation can be very slow depending on the number of surfaces you select.
  7. This is a good time for canned text. It seems to work fine for things like M00 and M60 and little one code commands. I have fixed it in the bfad9.pst make sure you get the txt file also.
  8. Check out bfad9.pst and bfad9.txt on ftp. I just put canned text in it.
  9. I did a 5-axis apt output post.I didn't get the feedrate thing going but I got the motion logic and the drilling logic right. I will post it if you like.
  10. I have developed lathe posts from scratch. I found that it was better to use the EZ post and not use too many canned cycles. It takes about 100 times more memory but mc will put all the moves that you need. I would start without drill cycles or anything. This will get you going until you learn the mp language. Get the post manual cd from mc.
  11. I have uploaded my post. It is called bfad9.pst and don't forget bfad9.txt. They are in the post and txt directory. I also put a file in the mc9 dir called posttest. It is very useful for testing some of the basic functions that any post should use like g17 g18, cutter comp and some drill cycles. Make sure you check out the misc int and reals for L9401 and L9801.

  13. At Tri-Tech we use a regular bridgeport right angle head that we have made an adapter for. It seems plenty rigid and is very easy to install. We use it to cut a large stainless forging and use 3/4 ruffers. We also have an op with a Haas indexer and the right angle. Pretty neat stuff.
  14. I use format 1 for machining. When I use the probing I change to format 2 because it does not make the move to home position. I have made the routines for edge finding and center finding and the move to home position is a disaster. As far as posting is concerned I have very little trouble with fanuc type programs in format 1 but I still like fadel format better. I hate to brag but I have the best fadel post. I would like to let it out and get some feedback if anyone is interested.
  15. Everytime I try to pick an entity and miss it My computer locks up for about 20 seconds. Then I do ctrl alt delete and t for task manager. then I press alt F4 and it seems fine. I am using 32mb nvidia geforce2 mx w tvout. Does this sound familiar? Please help.
  16. apt post available for trial. outputs 5-axis apt. uses tracut with tplane. use circle or disable. it works good but it may not be complete. with good feedback maybe we can finish it
  17. if anyone is interested I have a post for apt. it supports a few apt functions like circle and matrix. It works pretty good if anyone wants to try it . [email protected]
  18. to gstevens The apt output is not machine specific. The people I know that use 5-axis are using a system called NIT. It is connected to the machine controller and is controlled with apt. It controls tool data. My post outputs apt source code. It outputs apt control for 5-axis. I am beginning testing with one of those 5-axis heads. I still use a post processor but I need apt source for input. Since I started this project I have learned about these NIT controllers and figured this apt post would work directly with them. The tool planes are passed through 1017. If you are interested in the math for gage length email me. You won't believe how easy it is. [email protected]
  19. MP post for apt now available. [email protected]
  20. Look around people! The word is APT for 5-axis. It is worth it to invest in one of those systems that reads apt and controls the machine directly. Then all you need is a post that outputs apt. When surfcam and gibbs are in the toilet apt will still be here. Even the catia systems output apt. I have a brand new mp post that outputs apt. Now available. [email protected]
