  1. rob, undercut did not come thru download. check rb2.mc9 for 1.5 taper. will try to get .079 radius later
  2. cadcam, sounds like we could put our heads together and come up with a fadal post better than both of ours. This is my point. I bet 90% of mastercam programmers have to edit their tapping cycle. I know shops that are "top" Mastercam shops and they still edit their tapping cycle. I know this is a small thing but at this point why does mastercam supplied fadal post still not output a proper tapping cylce. Why don't they replace mpfad with your post. then the new guys wouldn't have to edit the damn tapping cycle.
  3. Storkman, You make a good point. I'm sorry if I come off with the tude thang. Just my nature. Please don't take offense. What I would like to have is a way to compare the best features in posts. If the top 10 fadal posts were available then we could all critique the procedures used and make the best fadal post. I see many ways of doing things and would like to see them work. Or at least hear which routines other people like the best. I said "my fadal post is almost perfected". Maybe some of you guys won't like the way it works. How would I ever know? If it was the best fadal post ever no one would know because no one is comparing our posts. I just think that with so many good mastercam user we could raise the level of posts for all. Billy
  4. I want to know what the big deal is if someone asks for a post. It is the first thing everyone needs when they start mastercam. I personally don't mind giving mine away. I have been customizing these thing for 17 years now and I have never refused anyone a post. And I have never charged for one either. My current Fadal post started out in V6. And I believe it to be almost perfected. I have many hours in it. It has been on the ftp for a couple of years. I even updated it a couple of times. If it is a big deal then the dealers are being rude by trading them on this section of the forum. If we really here to help each other then who cares about the ones who are charging us.
  5. Yeah. You can only ask for a free post if you are a dealer.
  6. I see no problem programming this part for 3-axis. The worst thing I see is finishing with a 1/8 em that reaches nearly an inch in inconel. Need to know about fillet radius size. Billy
  7. eeyore just talk to the stork. his mastercam only bombs every 2 or 3 months. and he does aircraft and even molds.
  8. I was working on a post for using tool planes. When I use a right angle head I can post the program for right side tplane and rear tplane. The problem for me was pointing left or front tplane. Since you are looking minus to plus the g2 and g3 are reversed as well as the i j and k. I couldn't figure out how to reverse the signs. I would post on ftp if someone wanted to figure it out. Billy
  9. try maranatha communications 603-661-4348 my freind says there cable and software is about $1500.00
  10. to cadcad let me tell you a story about ernie. I went to work with ernie in 87. he was foreman at a place in torrance. he had me put a 5-axis rotary on a fadal and clamp a ring of aluminum. he spent the day designing and programming an impeller. about a half hour before i went home we started the machine. when i came in the next day it was done. I'm 99% certain it is the impeller on the mastercam intro screen. very impressive. Billy
  11. Fastercam. I was just thinking along some of those lines myself. I was just griping to one of the other programmers about wcs. I see how nice and useful it is. but just bomb a few programs with it and you might feel as I am starting to feel about it. As far as being stable, I have noticed that when I use windows 98 I have far less bombouts then with windows 2000. in fact I hate windows 2000 with mcam. as far as programming cnc machines I am satisfied with the power of mastercam. The guys that never bomb out must be doing the easy stuff because I have just accepted that it will bombout at any time. I set autosave for 15 minutes and sometimes it is too long. I wonder how the glitches compare to gibbs or surfcam or even catia.
  12. even if it gave you the depth you would always be adjusting the z in your program I used a chart for centerdrills and they didn't repeat very good. I think you are better off using the chart and buying the same center drills every time. the difference in grinding will make you adjust the z
  13. Sure Rob! just make 2 seperate solids and use solid boolean common
  14. I have to go with robk. I have used the ball carbide to machine taps out of stainless. the flat bottom seems to break down and shatter the em. I would try a .075 ball em about 1500 rpm. and crank down by hand using the .0001 step pulse handle. if you can get it on a bridgeport then you can use some feel on it. just take it easy and it will cut.
  15. Rob! Please check rb2.mc9. is this what you are looking for?
  16. I am really starting to like you guys. I have'nt had this much fun since we stopped talking about the upcoming elections. Thank You All. Billy
  17. What kind of beer? Sorry nfranco. Seems like you have one the bad jobs. Just find one of the good ones and tell us the name of the place so we don't go there.
  18. I just had a great idea. I will program every job from "part zero". I will even quit using TLO's. Then I'll take off all the motors and replace them with handles and call it a bridgeport.
  19. I use it without finish pass.
  20. I don't have that problem. when I tell it to make a pass at final depth it just adds it to the bottom of the ramp moves. No retract or lead in. Maybe you should upload and example. Billy
